Chapter 5: Scarf’s Meaning *** “You can do it man, you’re the strongest!” Ciel said encouragingly in front of the restaurant. Standing over his friend, massaging his shoulders like a trainer does to a boxer before the next round for a fight. “Right!” Frank agreed with vigor in his voice as he nodded his head. “The handsomest!” Ciel continued to flatter him needlesly. “Right!” Frank continued to agree in the same determined manner. “You will go meet that man, give him the scarf and tell him clearly it’s all over between me and him!” Ciel continued to jump up and down and give him these one liners as if to hype the man up. “That’s right!” Frank said as he hit his chest with the palm of his hand. “You’ll also buy me a drink from the convenience store later!” Ciel continued in the same overly motivating public speaker voice. “Ri-what?” Frank glanced back at his friend in confusion. “Sorry… I wanted to see if you’d agree.” Ciel chuckled a bit to himself. He looked back at Frank with a bit of a conflicted expression as he continued. “Ugh… honestly I’m a bit nervous about this…” “It’s alright, I might be scared but I won’t let you suffer in silence. This guy has nothing to offer you, so you don’t need to worry about him.” Frank spoke brave words almost like a soldier preparing for the battlefield. Although they were in this endlessly mundane situation. “Frank, sometimes I wonder if I was blessed by your existence… you’re the best! The coolest!” Ciel spoke in a truly overly dramatic fashion while imaginary light shone down to make Frank’s body seem mystical. “If you weren’t my close buddy I’d suck you off.” “Gross…” Frank chuckled at the other’s joke. “Yeah, yeah, leave the praise for after I get back here… alive, hopefully.” He said while heading in. “Okay, good luck!” Ciel repeated once more ever so enthusiastically as he stood outside. The same restaurant as before, Frank walked confidently inside… “What are you doing here?” A voice spoke up from behind him. “Just waiting for my friend to return-” Ciel stopped mid sentence as he slowly turned his head around to see Dante standing there behind him. “AAAAA!!!” He unintentionally yelled out upon seeing him. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE INSIDE?!” He questioned in a panic. “Am I supposed to be there?” Dante asked him with confusion as he kept both his hands into his pockets. “Well no but that’s where I thought you’d be…” Ciel remarked while glancing at the restaurant, Frank was already inside and couldn’t see him. “Why? Were you hoping to see me?” Dante asked as he brought out his left hand and held onto Ciel’s… ‘The opposite actually! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to encounter you ever again!’ Ciel thought to himself but didn’t dare voice such words out loud to anyone, especially not this man he feared. “Um… no, just… well… your scarf.” He said while pointing at the restaurant. Dante tilted his head to the side as if he couldn’t understand, then an expression of realization spread upon his face. “Ah, I thought you took it to remind you of me.” ‘Of course you’d think that.’ Ciel thought to himself hopelessly as he tried to speak. “It wasn’t my intention see… it was… um…” He couldn’t come up with anything. Dante pulled him in closer. “What? Look me in the eyes while speaking.” He demanded, Ciel’s gaze continued wandering around aimlessly. He couldn’t focus. “I was… because I thought that… the girl… your sister…” Ciel began mumbling pointlessly. “Angelica?” Dante asked with a raised eyebrow. Loosening his grip on the guy’s arm. “Is that her name?” Ciel asked with his eyes gleaming in hope. “Yeah.” Dante nodded his head emotionlessly. ‘Whoa… she not only looks like an angel but her name pretty much means that!’ Ciel thought to himself with a slight smile appearing upon his face. Dante had a slightly confused look on his face as he spoke quietly. “I see… so you thought that was hers? She did mention giving it to some guy on the street.” “Eh? So she talked about me?” Ciel asked, his voice sounding a bit more excited as his eyes looked directly at the man, curiously asking for more information. “You were that guy on the street?” Dante tilted his head to the side with a bit of concerning look that fell onto the man. “Yeah.” Ciel confirmed. “The one that cried and pissed his pants?” Dante questioned further. “EH?! WHAT?! I never did that…” Ciel panicked as he waved his hands erratically in front of his face. “…never!” He repeated desperately. “You didn’t cry?” Dante asked him. “NO THE OTHER THING OBVIOUSLY!” Ciel admitted to crying, there was no shame in a manly man shedding a few tears. But a manly man wetting his underpants was a while different ordeal altogether! “Angelica mentioned you looked very sad and your pants were wet.” Dante explained with a thoughtful expression on his face. “That’s because a car drove past me over a puddle and I got soaked from the waist down… I was trying to forget that… since it happened a bit before my girlfriend broke up with me…” Ciel desperately explained as he accidentally tripped forward and held onto the man’s chest, his left cheek resting onto the man’s right breast that felt hard as a rock for some reason. Just how much did that guy need to exercise anyway? “Hm? So you had a girlfriend? Then that fellow with the small d**k wasn’t your boyfriend after all?” Dante questioned curiously, his grip onto the man’s hand suddenly holding up stronger than before. Yet he wasn’t squeezing him, just holding on tight. “Ugh… I messed up… what I meant to say was-” Ciel was at a loss for words. “You’re avoiding me… please don’t do that.” Dante pleaded with the man who’s eyes began wandering again. Ciel looked back and accidentally locked eyes with his ex. In fact the moment their eyes met it was a bit difficult for him to look away somehow… it made him more flustered than he thought was possible to be. “Huh?! I wasn’t trying to but I get awkward when you stand so close…” “I would move aside but… I’m scared you’ll runaway if I do…” Dante expressed his feelings earnestly. “I don’t want you to disappear from my life again after I just found you…” He complained in a low voice. “Well… I can’t say I don’t have the urge to do so… but…” Ciel was suddenly in a trance. Why couldn’t he just tell him straight on he doesn’t like him? What exactly made it so difficult to be honest? That was a stupid question. ‘If I push him away he’ll be angry, right? I don’t want to get my ass kicked!’ Ciel thought to himself hopelessly. Wondering why the Author of this silly little novel was typing out such unnecessarily sappy words that didn’t suit him. “Do you hate me?” Dante’s deep voice sounded clearly in the man’s ears. Ciel stood there like a deer in headlights. He couldn’t really comprehend what this situation was. But he slowly managed to find some words. “N-no… I don’t hate you just… as I said I have someone-” “It was a lie, right? That you’re with that guy with the small wiener… I can tell when you lie.” Dante knew the man better than Ciel would have assumed. Ciel finally gave up on pretending as he agreed. “Right, the truth is we’re just friends with him but…” “You said it because you don’t want to get together with me?” Dante asked him, his shoulders slumped lowly. He looked disappointed. “I mean… it was just so long ago and I don’t know what kind of person you are…” Ciel explained while shaking his head to the side casually, he kept a careful smile on. ‘That’s right I have to make sure I don’t offend him…’ He thought desperately to himself. “I’m… pretty much the same with a few improvements…” Dante explained while holding the man’s hand against his chest. Ciel felt the man’s hard as rock body and felt a bit self conscious, then his eyes wandered down to the man’s crotch as he mumbled. “Ugh, don’t mention the surgery please…” “I realize it might be too big still… but I will do another surgery if that’s what it means to make you happy.” Dante spoke so overly serious although the situation was laughable. ‘This guy… is he for real?’ Ciel wondered to himself as he closed his eyes and gently pushed the man away. “Please don’t do that… you don’t need to go that far… the truth is… well… I think you’ll find someone that likes you better than I do…” “I don’t want anyone else though…” Dante spoke from his heart. The way his eyes were soley focused on the man in front of him as if there was no one else in the world. “Well… but you were always surrounded by people so I assumed you were popular, and you’ve become more handsome so you’re definitely wanted by many!” Ciel said while trying to change the subject. “….what’s the point of being wanted by a lot of people if you don’t like me?” Dante asked as he rested his chin onto the man’s shoulder. Ciel didn’t know what to do with his hands thus they stood there aimlessly in mid air as he looked at the man on his shoulder. His thoughts were all over the place… ‘I hate to admit this… but the way he speaks and holds my hand… it kind of feels nostalgic of the past… he really… he hasn’t changed at all has he?’ He wondered to himself, standing there, they were so close he could feel the other’s heartbeat… and worst of all, his own…
