"Hey beautiful, where are you going?"
"I, um. Jace left so I just wanted to check up on him!" she said in a worried tone while her eyes roamed towards the exit that he took a few minutes ago. I offered a hand in exchange for a dance and like always she could not refuse.
"He probably just went to check up on some guest or walked them out!" I reassured her and just like that she took my hand and we danced. I felt bad for poor Nicole at this point, yet neither did I know that this was going to take place. If he had just listened to me like I asked him to, yet no he wanted to follow his f*****g shitty advice!
"Can I ask you a question, Mickey?"
"Sure?"
"I saw him looking at a woman that was standing next to you..."
"My old lady?" I asked to hope that she would take the bait, yet she looked quite unsure.
"I think I am losing it!"
"What do you mean?" I asked interested waiting for her answer while the butler pinned me down with his eyes.
"I am not her Mickey and I will never be her, yet sometimes I wish I were..."
"Shh... Look Jace would not have proposed to you if he felt like that, he loves you!" I said laying through my teeth or hoping that some part of him did love her. He seemed happy with her and even tried to change his way, yet with Nat things were different. He was allowed to be him which means a lot for men like us.
Jace p.o.v
"You're alive?" I asked trying to take a step closer, yet she took another one back.
"You fooled me, yet here I was thinking that I was the bad one for lying to you and stealing from you!"
"What are you talking about Natalia? I watched the plane explode into millions of f*****g pieces! I even got your death certificate in my office!" I said furiously seeing how she gave me a smile asking about a letter.
"What?"
"The letter that I had left for you, did you read it?"
"I..."
"Thought so, you were too busy eating out another woman right so let me tell you something Jace you are going to stay the hell away from me and my family!"
"Why didn't you call me? A f*****g heads up would have been nice!"
"Nice? Do you know what is f*****g nice the fact that I left my entire plan in the letter for you!" she said taking a step towards me.
"I should have never trusted you Jace, 'cause even tho you despised Logan in a way you were the same man.." I wanted to speak, but she placed her finger on my mouth leaving me to stand there in utter shock.
"The only thing that is different between the two of you is that Logan needs to blackmail you into doing what he wants, whereas you just manipulate the person Jace!" She said before she took a step back. She looked at me then both of us heard someone coming. I took my eyes off of her for a second and she was gone. I looked at the space where she was standing just a few minutes ago which is now empty. I could still smell her perfume and her eyes on me which made me mad as hell. I pulled my jacket straight before I headed back to the party where I saw my sister talking to one of her friends. I found myself walking toward her.
"Jace, I would like you to meet.."
"Get lost!" I said and within a second the lady disappeared into thin air. My sister glared at me before she took a sip of her champagne.
"What has gotten into you little brother!" she asked concerned, yet I knew deep down inside she was playing a game that she was going to lose.
"We need to talk!"
"About what Jace, I have people to meet that would like to invest.."
"I can pull the plug items as you have forgotten already!" I said seeing her expression change into disbelief. She placed the glass on the table before we walked back into the house. I asked that the butler keep guests from coming in as well as Nicole. I already have enough to deal with I can't deal with her right now!
As I closed the study doors behind my sister she went to stand by the window.
"You look like you have seen a ghost brother!"
"Do not play games with me, Alexa, did you know!"
"Know what?" she asked before I saw her looking at me with a smile.
"Don't push it!"
"I told you multiple times that you're making a mistake Jace, so yes I did know that she was alive!'
"Why not tell me!"
"You weren't searching for her or looking for answers at all, no you were having the time of your life with barbie outside!"
"Her name is Nicole!" I said harshly.
"It is cute that you stand up for her Jace, but you made a promise to Natalia, or did you forget!"
"How the f**k should I have known huh!" I said taking out the envelope of Natalia's death certificate and the picture of her burning body. I threw them on the table so that she could see for herself. Her eyes were roaming over the pictures before she looked up at me. Her eyes had tears in them.
"I was down there for business and the owners told me that the person they took away in the ambulance got a heartbeat as soon as they picked her up. So I decided to see who it was hoping that it was not Logan, yet I found her sitting in a bed trying to recall her name over and over. She could not walk at the time. She had burn marks, Jace...I wanted to tell you as soon as I found her, yet she could not even remember anything at the time."
My sister continued while I kept quiet: "she became better with time and that is when I decided to get Mickey's opinion..."
"Mickey's opinion? What about me huh? I deserved to know Alexa!" I finally spoke out of anger. This time I could not hold back anymore.
"If I had known for the love of earth do you think I would have left her alone wondering who she was at the time?" I screamed at the top of my lungs before my fists connected with the table.
"Jace, she yelled at me calling me a stranger over and over. I know you would have helped her trust me, but I could not let you go through that pain again!"
"Again? Alexa what you and Mickey did was way worse than what I went through!" I said only to see her walking around the table towards the door, yet she stopped once she turned the door nob.
"I know that you hate me right now, but I only did it cause I cared about the both of you!"
"This is not caring, Alexa, what you showed me right now is that you are like all the rest of them outside.."
"I am not finished!" I said as I turned around only to be met by worried eyes, yet I did not give a f**k about what she was worried about at this point.
"You betrayed me, you lied to my face over and over, yet you seemed to forget who always looked after you, sis! I might be younger than you, but I am a different person. The one thing I hate you did that Alexa you achieved that one thing I hate the most! Leave!" I said only to find my mother walking in through the door. My eyes did not leave Alexa's as off this point my give a f***s was thrown out of the window. My mother took a step closer only to look at me with an angry face.
"That is no way to speak to your sister Jace! Whatever she has done.."
"Done? Oh, you don't know do you!" I said only to see a worried look on her face, yet she looked at Alexa with curiosity.
"Do you want to tell her or should I?" I said as I placed my hands in my pants with a smirk I could now see how she was starting to stress about the situation.
"Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on here?" my mother broke the silence that was echoing in the room leaving me to look at Alexa with a straight face.
"Your daughter knew that Natalia was alive that is why she invested in that land!"
"Is this true?" my mother asked looking at Alexa, yet her eyes never left mine.
"Yes, I do not regret any of this Jace!"
"That is what traitors usually say, now leave my house!"
"Jace I think you should take a deep breath before..."
"Before what mother, your daughter comes up with another diabolical plan? I should f*****g kill her right now!" I said before my mother requested that she should rather leave the room. Once she was out of the room she looked at me with disappointment.
"You are your father's son! Family is everything and you know that!"
"Are they?" I asked and that is when I saw her eyes turn dark which followed with words: "I had no choice Jace this discussion is over!" before she walked out leaving me to look at how she disappeared. This is just the beginning!
