Chapter 2

I woke up with a bad headache, yet I did not know if the sun in my eyes was worse or my head! I dragged my body out of bed heading straight towards the shower. I took a long shower thinking of what had taken place last night at the ball. In a way, I should not be mad at him, yet I trusted him. I stood in the shower with thoughts running wildly until I felt the water turning cold. I got out and dressed in a simple plain t-shirt with a pair of jeans and boots. I did not think that I was going to go out today, I might just run into the bachelor himself! Oh, wait it is engaged now! I let my hair down dripping since I had no energy to blow out my hair and with that, I went downstairs only to be met by two crazy adults making out in the kitchen. I cleared my throat and saw how quickly my dad took a seat while my mother just showed me to take a seat at the table. If I knew they were going to be this close after I was gone I guess in a way I would have stayed gone! Maybe that would have saved the painful part as well.
"Breakfast is ready!" my father said as I took a seat by the table. My mother placed some bacon and eggs with toast in front of me and it smelled good. She also handed me my medication with a smile leaving me to smile back. At this point, I could not argue or say anything anymore. I was tired emotionally and physically.
"I am going out with the boys today to check up on our shipments, you want to come?"
"Brice, leave her alone she needs to rest!"
"Honey, she needs to get out of this house as it will drive her loco!" my father said before my mother went off on him with her Latina ass, but he got saved by the bell. He excused himself and went to check who was at the door only to return with Alexa. She was wearing her high heels with a leather dress. She did live up to the signature of the Haunt family. She smiled at us before she said morning. I stood up about to leave, yet she stopped me before I could go anywhere.
"Can we talk?"
"Fine, it is not like I have anything to do right?" I said sarcastically before I showed her to the living room hearing my mom cussing in the kitchen.
"I arrange with the media to release that you survived and that the police made a mistake with the identification of the bodies!"
"How kind of you!" I said seeing how her expression changed from happy to sad. The last thing I wanted to do right now was to owe another Haunt a favor.
"I did not know Nat, if I had known I would have never dragged you along!"
"I know, sorry that I am being rude it is just a lot to take in you know?"
"Of course, please call me if you need something!" she said with a smile about to leave before I stopped her.
"Why are you doing this Alexa, why are you being so nice and supportive?"
"I owe you Nat and believe it or not you being here is going to help my i***t of a brother to come down to earth again!"
"Guess he did not take it very well that you knew?"
"No, he was on the urge to kill me!"
"Sounds like him, thank you for what you have done!" I said before she yanked me into a hug.
"Hey, anything for a friend!" she said before I walked her out. Yeah, Alexa helped me a lot these few months that have passed. The doctor said that if it wasn't for Alexa and the photos, I would have most probably forgotten who I was. Since my memories had a time gap and if it was after a few months I would have been a jane doe! I walked back into my room looking at the empty room before rushing downstairs and hearing my father about to leave.
"No, correr en la casa Natalia!" I heard my mother's sweet voice say as she walked my father out. (No running in the house Natalia)
"lo Siento mamá, papá ¿sigue vigente ESA oferta?"
"Yes, come before your mother kills both of us!" I laughed at his words and kissed my mom on the cheek before I left with my father. The road seemed short and things were different between my father and me. I haven't spoken much about why I did what I did, cause I did leave most of it for him in the letter! Yet he seemed happier than before and did not question me every single time.
"If you are going to think that hard honey, your brain might explode!"
"Sorry dad, so how has the shipping been going? Did everyone at least hold their word?" I saw a smile creeping onto his face knowing that he was happy.
"Yes, but there is a small problem that we need to take care of!" he said in a harsh tone already knowing what is going on.
"What is it?"
"Well, since the warehouse has been full someone has been helping themselves!"
"Interesting!" I said only to see the warehouse in front of me. My dad was a nice man, but families don't cross one another, especially my father. That s**t hit him hard in the gut. I got out walking alongside him towards the building. My eyes caught a car on the east side that stopped by one of the warehouses leaving me to wonder what that might be.
"You coming?"
"Nah, think I will hang out here a bit!" I said softly with a smile while my eyes were on that car. Jace's warehouse is on the west side so something was up. I turned around seeing one of the guys standing and smoking.
"Hey you, yes you! What is the deal over there!" I said nodding my head in the direction of the car only to see it moving towards us, that is when my eyes caught the badge on the car.
"s**t!" I heard his voice say before he threw his half cigarette on the floor about to alarm the guys.
"Don't alarm them right now! Just close the door and let everyone act calm!"
"Look he is a cop! If he finds out what.."
"I gave you a f*****g order, didn't I? He already saw that we noticed him if we do anything now we might have the chopper on top of us!"
"So what do we do then huh?"
"Do as I say and maybe I will not kill you!" I said harshly seeing as how he moved to get the word out. I knew what my duty was who better than an assassin plus my father was too busy beating someone up at the back right now. I stood my ground and saw a cop pulling up. I knew this man from anywhere! He slept with John's wife once reminding me where is that fucker!
"Good morning!"
"Morning, how may I help?"
"I am here to do an inspection Miss?"
"It is Natalia!" I said as he moved forward I took a step towards him seeing how he looked surprised.
"You're alive?"
"Suprised much Mark?" I said seeing as his facial expression changed. I saw how he moved his hand toward his gun leaving me to laugh at this i***t.
"I see John left quite a mark on you?" I said seeing as how his hands shivered while sweat was dripping from his head.
"I am just doing my job, now can you please step aside so that I can do the inspection!"
"Sure, I do not want there to be any problems officer!" I said as I took a step back letting him walk past me.
"Tho, if you are going to do this inspection of yours there might be something you should think off first!" I said as I lay against the wall seeing how he stopped in his tracks.
"You came here without a court order and secondly if you step over that line then we are going to have a problem!" I said looking at the waves crashing down on the rocks on the sides.
"Are you implementing something?" I felt how his eyes were now focused on me.
"No, I am just saying that there is a certain line that should not be crossed in life!" my words were not even cold when we both heard a tormented scream coming from the back. The cop was about to move, yet I stopped him.
"What should your wife think of you f*****g another woman in her house or the fact that you might go home to no one at all!"
"You're bluffing!"
"The last guy who said that choked on his blood and the other one blew to pieces so try me, maybe I could get more creative with them!" I said seeing as how he took a step back with fear written all over his face.
"Everything looks fine here!"
"Good to know and Mark, if you tell anyone about this I might just lose my s**t! Snitches end up in ditches!" I said seeing as how he practically ran towards his car speeding away. I could not help but laugh at this i***t.
"What??"
"Maybe I should have been a bit nicer!"
"That was you being nice?" One of the guys said with a pale face.
"No that was me being selfish, you should see me being happy you will eat your liver for Christmas!" I said before I walked past all of them straight towards the room where my father is. Being back is going to be fun!
