Derry’s POV I wave Mickey off as he leaves the b&b with a promise to return in the morning. I really like him. He’s a little odd, but that just adds to his charm. I think I’ve made my first official friend in this town and that makes me feel more sure I belong here. I’ve never had a real friend before, never staying in one place long enough to make connections, except for Simon. From a very young age I learnt to be very careful about who I trust and to not get too attached to anyone. When I fell in love with Simon I forgot all my previous reservations. My love for him seemed to have the power to blind me and break down all the defences I’d put up to protect myself. I will never give love a chance to destroy me like that again. If it wasn’t for my imaginary boyfriend distracting me, I don’
