"No!" Blake thundered aloud. "You will not welcome any man!"
Fei was going to say: 'While I will watch and be humiliated silently!'
"You said it will be fake, so how will you, er, satisfy yourself?" She blurted instead, unable to stop and changed the topic.
"Are you suggesting we... satisfy ourselves?" There was a subtle change in his tone.
"No!" Fei whispered fiercely. She took a shaky breath. She felt a sudden rise of heat in her body.
She had no problem on her s****l desires because she had never ever been awakened. At the age of thirty years old, she had remained a virgin!
"Let's erase what I said!" she said sharply. "Give me a separate room, very far from yours! Or better yet, I will live in a separate house!"
"That will be impossible," Blake refused with fake composure. "We must convince the authorities that we are a happily married couple."
Fei could feel her blush crawling on her neck and cheeks. She shook her head shakily.
"Okay, okay!" She raised her palms and gesturing for him to back off.
Blake turned his back on her and ran his long fingers through his hair once again. When he faced her from the other end of the room, his hair was tousled roughly. He looked boorish yet somewhat youngish.
Fei's heart palpitated wildly. She breathed deeply to pacify her body. She must keep her wits with her!
"First, I need the twenty thousand dollars tonight." Fei held her breath after the unsteady announcement.
There was momentary silence before Blake agreed quietly. "Consider it done."
"Thank you!" It was a heartfelt gratitude.
'Ma, our problem is solved!' she whispered to herself.
Blake took out his cellphone from his jean's back pocket. His brooding expression was intensified while he read the messages.
"Change of schedule," he revealed after more clicking on his cellphone. "We shall be married today!"
"What? Where?" was all she could ask in confusion.
"Here. A judge will arrive in a few minutes." Blake seemed nervous while he walked around restlessly.
"What!" Belatedly, she remembered she was wearing a white scrub. She was assigned to assist the surgeons at the operating room.
All she had in her duffle bag were blue pants and white blouse. She was wearing no make-up and no lipstick!
But before Fei could move, the door opened. Uncle Doc and two men in black appeared.
Fei felt like she was just dreaming. She watched Uncle Doc showed the man with the black briefcase his chair behind the large desk.
"Have a seat, Attorney Lark!" Uncle Doc invited informally.
"Thank you, Dr. Prado!" The man put on his glasses before he pulled out several folders from the case and laid them in front.
Blake looked at the folder one by one. He showed Fei the last one.
"The paper to the twenty thousand dollars transfer," he murmured flatly. "Please, provide the bank account numbers."
Fei nodded mutely. With shaking fingers, she wrote the numbers of her mother's account.
"Read the prenuptial agreement before you sign on all the pages," the lawyer instructed quietly.
Fei was given some privacy when the men moved to the far side of the room to speak softly to each other.
Her lips formed an 'O' while she read the agreement. Aside from the one million dollars--not pesos, she would receive an apartment here and a villa in her country.
"Mr. Walker?" Fei croaked while she gulped down the dryness in her mouth.
"Do you want more?" Blake was beside her in a blink.
"I don't need an apartment and a villa," she pronounced unhappily. Her words were almost inaudible. Never in her life that felt so small!
Blake hunkered beside her chair. He took her cold hands and rubbed her sweating palms.
"You need the apartment to go to when you have days off," he stated gruffly. "Tell your family to live at the villa. Your father will recuperate fast with fresh air!"
Fei was truly shocked. "How... How did you know?" she asked faintly.
"I always investigate behind the scenes before I move," Blake replied enigmatically.
In that moment, there were knocks on the door.
Gellie rushed over to Fei and embraced her tightly. "Is it true? You're getting married tonight?"
"Yes..." Fei bit her lip when they shook. Curiously, her dry eyes welled in tears.
"Oh, Fei!" Gellie was crying, too.
"There, there... Isn't a wedding joyful occasion? Stop crying, you two!" Uncle Doc scolded the girls gently while providing a box of tissue. He extricated Gellie while murmuring soothingly.
The agreement papers were pushed to Fei once again. "Please sign, Miss Santos," the lawyer requested unobtrusively.
Fei had seen the third man and guessed correctly that he was the judge. She signed the agreement without a word.
'If Blake could pay one million dollars--not pesos, he was rich enough to afford anything!' Fei placated her disturbed conscience.
The wedding was finished in five minutes. It was not the dream wedding of both Fei and Gellie.
When they were both children, they would often see themselves as princesses to be wedded to their own princes charming.
"I will be married in our old church! There will be lots of flowers: white orchids, white rose, white large ribbons!" Gellie declared in her childish voice.
"Me, too!" Fei would pipe in.
"My dress will have very wide skirt. As big as this!" Gellie outstretched her arms widely.
"I will have that, too!" Fei would always say.
"My prince will dance with me! We will dance all night!"
"We will dance all night!" Fei chanted and danced around Gellie happily.
But the reality was vastly different from their dreams.
When both graduated in college, Gellie flew to America. With her help, Fei followed after two years.
They both worked at the same hospital since they arrived. Uncle Doc was there first and he offered his protection to the girls.
Because Fei had a rare type of blood, she was asked to sell her blood to the hospital.
But Fei declined respectfully. "Blood saves life. I'll donate mine to whoever needs blood!"
And because of that rare type of blood of hers, Blake Walker entered her life...
"Why me, Uncle Doc?" Fei had asked worriedly. Her principle was against money being exchanged to her blood.
"Your blood type matched his niece's needs, Fei. Mr. Walker wants you!" Uncle Doc explained simply.
Now, Blake made it clear that he did not want Fei but she was married to him. Why?
'Why?' Fei asked mutely while their eyes clashed at each other. Her large clear eyes to his deep-seated dark ones.
