Chapter 3

Becker I went back to where Shane was and to my surprise, the wonder woman was there too – talking with Gail. “Oh, Becker!” she saw me first and called me. I approached her. The lady didn’t even bother to turn around. “This is Amber.” Amber? Ah, the friend she was talking about with Dom. What a small world. She turned around; this time properly smile. Oh, what a sinner she was. How bogus her smile was. “Amber Queen. Nice to meet you,” she extended her hand. Amber Queen? Queen? f*****g hell. I grabbed her hand. “Becker Shaw.” “Wow, the name itself screams a soldier.” “And yours scream the strong lady.” And I wish you will scream my name under my mercy. “You should be careful around Amber, Becker. She has many black belts,” Gail warned. “Other than taekwondo?” “In karate, aikido, and judo.” Wow, f**k me. I positively should not piss her around. The last thing I wanted was her ripping my d**k away. “But thanks to Amber, this bar is safe.” “What do you mean?” “She’s working as the bouncer here.” Ah, I’ll be damned. I knew a woman could be a bouncer but I never saw one before. Except from that The Expendables movie. No wonder that lady said Amber always saved the day. The real wonder woman. “Here you go, Amber,” Dom appeared and handed a glass to her. What she was drinking? That didn’t look like a color of a beer. Amber drank it and my eyes never left her neck. s**t, that neck of hers was definitely inviting. Code red. May-f*****g-day. The f**k? What was happening to me? Get yourself together, Shaw.  I grabbed the bottle and poured the liquid into my glass and drank it within one sip. “Thanks, Dom. I need to go back to work.” “You can stay for now. It’s not like there’s anything wrong now,” Dom suggested.  “You’re right but I have to do the patrol, just in case I found something similar at the bathroom,” she said while looking at me and pulled away from the group. “Did something happen in the bathroom?” Gail asked. “There was a d**k targeting a woman and Amber saved her by knocking him down,” I explained. “She’s very well-known here,” Shane said. “Not because she’s keeping the bar safe but she is highly attractive.” Tell me about it. I looked behind to where Amber was gone and saw some men were talking with her. Patrol, my ass. Well, she was definitely gorgeous though I won’t lie. Tempting. Inviting. Damn, that ass of hers. And her legs, those screamed perfect to wrap around me while I pounded my c**k inside her wet and tight p***y. f*****g hell, Shaw! Snap out of it! “Do you have a crush on Amber now, Becker?” Gail jokingly asked. “Who said that?” “I won’t forbid you but I think it will be impossible.” “Why is that?” Shane questioned. “Amber is never interested in a commitment.” She wasn’t? That sounded just like me. “She is more into one fling and goodbye the next.” “Ooh, so much like Becker.” “Will you shut your mouth?” He laughed.  “Well, I’m hoping someone will change my best friend though,” Gail said. For a second, I saw the sadness from her gray eyes while she took her beer.  There was something. Even just by looking at Amber’s eyes, I knew she was covering something. The wall around her was so tall and thick no one had able to break it. I peeked to the back and saw her glancing at me for two seconds before she walked away. Was she looking at me the whole time? Or maybe she followed me when I used the restroom? Shane and I were in the bar until two in the morning. Shane was drunk enough while I was still sober. My tolerance toward alcohol was much higher than him. And stupid Shane, he forgot he was driving. Guess I had to use Uber for a ride home after I dropped his poor drunken ass. We just had four bottles, even sharing with Gail. In the end, that girl didn’t leave us alone while her best friend, Amber was guarding the place. I helped bring Shane to his car as we parted with Gail at the door. “See you around, Gail.” “Sure. Come back soon, you guys!” I went to Shane’s car. My steps were wobbly while holding Shane. “Get up, you asshole. If you want to sleep, do it in the car.” And he giggled. The stupid motherfucker. How lucky he was my mate.  Amber came to the rescue as she had her hand around Shane's shoulder. “I’ll help.” “Thanks, but I can do this myself.” “Really? Because from how I was looking at you, you don’t convince me at all.” “I was thinking to throw him on my shoulder if I have to.” She chuckled. I guided her to the car and pushed Shane into the back seat. “Thanks.” “No problem.” “Do you need a ride home?” Becker, you moron! “That’s lovely but my shift tonight is until the bar is closed which is another hour. Don’t worry. I know my way home and I’ll be with Gail later.” Oh, right. These two would be having girls’ day. Why the hell I remembered that? I only nodded. “Well, see you later.” Depositing myself behind the wheel and drove away from the place. From her. Seeing her still standing on her spot through the rear-view mirror.  What had that woman done to me?  Why did I want to go back and grab her with me? s**t, I sounded like a kidnapper. “No, Becker. Just f*****g no.” *** The next morning, after I woke up, I brought Zeus for a walk. The usual routine with my boy. Thirty minutes walk and run. Five minutes rest in the park. Play until he was dropped. Running with the music from Maroon 5 surrounding my ears. The morning wind hitting my skin. The morning sun wrapping my body. Perfect. Serene. I saw some people were running and some were just walking. Enjoying the day. Some of them were brave enough to touch Zeus.  By the way, who the f**k spread the false rumor about Pitbull was a dangerous dog the first time? I heard cases where they attacked humans but the news about them being the most adorable and affectionate dog was a lot. In the end, it was the human’s doing. I didn’t agree to categorize them as dangerous. It’d been thirty minutes as we reached the park and took shelter under the tree. Sitting my ass on the grass while Zeus laid next to me. I grabbed a bottle of water and poured them into a bowl for Zeus to drink. I pulled my earphone and deposited them inside my pocket. Zeus immediately poked my arm. “What? You want to play now?” He barked. “Are you sure you don’t want to take a break?” He barked again. Nope. Not tired at all. I smirked. He definitely missed the time we spent together. “All right then.” I pulled out Zeus’ favorite blue ball and I stood up. His blue eyes were never apart from the ball and kept jumping around. “Sit.” He did immediately. “Go get it!” I threw the ball. Zeus immediately chased it like he was chasing a robber. He returned in no time as I grabbed the ball from him and threw it again. I did it until the tenth time, only this time…Zeus didn’t return. s**t, did I throw it too far? No, no matter how far I launched the ball, Zeus would find it and bring it back to me. “Zeus!” Nothing. Okay, this was so not funny at all.  Grabbing all Zeus’ stuff from the ground, I chased my dog. “Zeus!” Usually, he would come to me with just one call from me. How I hoped no one was stupid enough to steal my dog or I seriously would be in jail tonight. An ex-military ended up in jail after he retired because he killed his dog’s abductor. How comical. Not.  And then I saw him, with a woman. Damn the little prick. “Ze—” Halt. Zeus was wagging his tail like a tornado. That was rare for him to do that, especially to a stranger he just met. Zeus was friendly since the beginning but he won’t be too friendly to someone new. I ran toward him. “Zeus!” I called, catching his attention, and the woman herself. Oh, s**t. Seeing Amber with her hair tied up into a ponytail and she was wearing a white sports bra, half of her back was exposed. Black leggings with white sneakers. Hold on a minute. What was that in her back? It was faint but it was there. A…scar? “He’s yours?” she asked, flipping my mind back to my dog. “Yeah. Zeus, come!” He immediately went to me. Crouching in front of my black fur, “Don’t worry me like that again. Jesus, I thought you got kidnapped.” And she chuckled. That was cute. “He immediately came to me while I was resting here.” He did? “I’m so sorry about that.” “Don’t be. I love dogs. They are adorable.” “They are. Zeus rarely being like that, to be so friendly to a stranger.” “Maybe because I like dogs as well.” Or maybe because his owner has a little crush on her. Halt. Crush? The f**k? Son of a b***h, Shaw. I didn’t have a crush on her. I cleared my throat. “Are you running too?” “I am.” Hold on. This woman had a ton of black belts in her closet. Of course, she would run. And my eyes betrayed me and went to her exposed abs. Damn it, those abs were mouth-drooling to me. How I would love to spend my time licking and kissing them. How I wished she would turn around so I could see the mark on her back. I wonder if it was a scar or something? s**t, what the f**k I was thinking about? “You live around here?” she asked. “Because by how we met the first time that night and now, I assume you live close.” “I am. I own a small house near the beach. And you?” “Me too. I’m staying with Gail.” Gail? Oh, the woman from last night. “She doesn’t stay with her boyfriend?” “She does. But she likes staying with me. We purchase a house together before she’s with Dom.”  “I see.” I nodded. “Well, sorry for disturbing your break.” I have to get out of here. Pronto. My heartbeat became massive and uncontrollable around this lady. “No problem.”  I gently pulled Zeus in my direction after I put on his leash. “Bye. Zeus, don’t do that again. Especially with her,” I whispered the last words. He slightly whined, feeling guilty and I smiled. “That woman is dangerous, Zeus.” To me.
