Of Wolves and Dragons

Chapter Four

I don't understand why PE is necessary for people like the werewolves, I mean they are the fittest creatures that exist, they spend most of their time running in the woods. Yet here they are looking very very.... nice.  

After our lunch, Marina and I headed to our next class PE. We had to change into a white long shirt with the school logo and dark green short pants with sneakers. I put my hair in a ponytail and here we are running laps gawking at the wolf boys.  

"Marina stop staring, or at least stop being so obvious." I say out of breath. 

"What you want me to do, they run past us with their tight butts. Like hell I'm not gonna look." 

I laugh and then realize that the wolf boys that are a little further than us, heard us because they look back at us with a smile. I can feel my face go red.  

"TEASE!!" Marina yells at them and they start laughing. 

("Oh my god this girl is going to get me in so much trouble.") 

She laughs at my horrified reaction. "They are part of Luke's pack and they are twins. The blond hair one is Nolan and the one with brown hair is Parker. They are Luke's best friends and they are actually nicer than most werewolves." 

Luke runs past us and catches up to Nolan and Parker. The twins say something to him and he looks back at me and Marina and smiles.  

"Boy wants to give us a heart attack with that smile." Marina says and I can hear them laughing from where they run. 

I sigh knowing that there's no way of stopping this girl's mouth. While we keep running, Luke keeps looking back at us and Marina looks at me noticing too.  

"Okay everyone back in line!" The teacher says.  

I stop and catch my breath and then we head back and stand in a row facing the teacher with everyone else.  

"Today we will be playing volleyball in four teams. The teams will be chosen at random by picking a color stick from the basket. Those with the same colors will be in the same team." 

We all take a stick from the basket and mine is red, I look at Marina's and hers is yellow. She looks at me and squints her eyes.  

"You're going down." She says playfully. I laugh but then stop and look around. 

 ("Darn it, who the hell am I with?")  

I keep looking around and just my damn luck, I see Isaac with a red stick staring at me with a smirk. I keep looking around and Nolan also has a red stick, Parker has a blue one and Luke has a yellow one. 

"Everyone huddle up with your teammates and pick a team leader. Then I will give you the orders in which the teams will be playing." The teacher says. 

I walk over to where our team is walking to and stand with everyone in a circle.  

("Just great, Jillian is in our team too.")  

"New girl, you know how to play?" Isaac asks me. 

"Yea." I say, keeping it short. I actually play very well. I was in my old school's team and we competed against other schools. 

"Good, that means you won't be dead weight." He says almost in a playful way.  

"Also, I'm going to be team captain." He says and no one argues with him. This guy obviously likes to be in full control, it's probably the whole Alpha thing. 

We hear the teachers whistle, signaling for us to come back to her. "Okay, red team and blue team you're up. The first one to make it to four points goes against the next team. And remember to watch your strength."  She says that last part looking at the werewolves and the vampires. They all nod.  

("God, if I'm hit by one of them, I'll be knocked out for days.") 

"Jillian, you are serving first, Nolan takes middle and new girl.... what can you do?" Isaac asks. 

"I was a hitter in my last school team." I say. 

"Okay take right, and don't drag us down." He says and Jillian laughs.  

I roll my eyes and take my position. The game starts and Jillian gets to serve first. She bounces the ball on the ground and when the teacher blows her whistle, she hits the ball and it goes directly to the back of my head. I look at her holding my head and she is laughing.  

("She did that on purpose, b***h!") 

I squint my eyes at her. "I guess I'm not the one dragging the team down. That point was just given to the blue team, idiot." I say to her annoyed and the blue team starts laughing. She looks at me angrily. 

"No more games Jillian." Isaac yells looking angry too.  

She rolls her eyes at him and goes to serve again but this time, I don't take my eyes off of her. She serves and it goes over the net. The ball goes back and forth for a while and I still haven't touched it, mostly the guys are going at it. The game is three to two with us ahead, the blue team is about to spike it on my side but I jump up with my palms open and defend, sending the ball back to them. They hit it back and Nolan sets it up for me, I jump in the air and spike it and it lands on the inside of their court. We get the point and win.  

"I guess you're not useless." Isaac says with a smirk. 

"Lay off man." Nolan says. Isaac gives him a death glare and Nolan rolls his eyes at him. 

"Next is the yellow team." The teacher says. 

"Oh, this is going to be easy if the human is with them." Jillian says looking at Marina who is walking to the opposite side of the court. 

("She's such a bitch.") 

"She should leave this school, she's going to get hurt. Humans don't belong here." Isaac says lowly squinting his eyes at her.  

He whispers something in Jillian's ears and she nods and laughs. We all take our position's and this time I get to serve. I send it flying straight to Luke who hits it back sending it to Nolan. He sends it to Jillian and she sets it up for Isaac. He jumps and spikes it hard and fast sending it to Marina. The ball goes so fast that we can't even see it. She can't stop it and it hits her on the face. She stumbles back and falls looking dizzy and I can tell she's about to faint. The teacher runs to her along with some of her teammates. 

"What the hell is your problem! You did that on purpose!" I yell at Isaac.  

I'm so angry that I walk up to him and push him. "You're an asshole you know that!" 

He looks surprised that I did that. I'm about to push him again but he holds my arm and pulls me away from him.  I stumble back about to fall but someone holds me from behind. 

"I'm an Alpha! Who the hell do you think you are, pushing me and talking to me like that?!" Isaac yells at me. 

("You have no f*****g idea, I could kill you easily right now if I wanted to.") 

 While I'm thinking this, I don't notice that my anger has made the wind pick up and it blows hard around us. All the girls are holding their hair, everyone is looking up and the trees are swaying back and forth.  

("s**t! Control, I need to control myself.")  

I close my eyes and breath and I can feel everything calm down. 

Nolan stands in front of Isaac. "Dude, what the hell are you doing? You're going to hurt someone." 

"He better not be putting his hands on her, that's for sure." I hear Luke saying from behind me. I didn't notice that he was the one who stopped me from falling and he is still holding me by the waist. Isaac looks at Luke's hands on my waist and his face gets angry.  

"Get your hands off of her." He says almost growling.  

Luke looks at him confused and then his face turns to anger too. "NO." He growls back. 

(".... What the hell is going on.?")  

Nolan looks at me also confused and looks at Luke and his eyes widen. I look back up at Luke and his eyes are completely dark. Luke takes my hand and pulls me behind him but doesn't let go of me. I look at Isaac and his eyes are also black and they are just looking at each other and giving low growls. 

("What the hell! This is my first day of school, is this how it's going to be like?")  

I decide that right now I should be with Marina. I pull out of Luke's hold and walk over to where Marina is lying with the teacher and some students around her. She looks like she's regaining consciousness.  

"You two are roommates, right?" The teacher asks me and I nod. 

"Take her to her room and I will send the nurse to see her. You can have the next period free, I'll inform both your teachers." She says and I nod again. 

"I'll carry her." Parker says picking Marina up. I look back at Luke and Isaac and they are now both looking at me. I quickly look away. 

"I can do it." Nolan says walking towards us. 

"Na, it's okay, I got it." Parker says. Nolan looks a little disappointed and annoyed. 

We start walking and I look at Marina—who even though she has the right side of her face swollen— still has a stupid smile on her face while she looks up at Parker. We pass by Jillian and she looks at me angrily, I keep walking and ignore her.  

"Maybe I should get hit with a ball on the face every day if you get to carry me like this." Marina says looking up at Parker. 

He laughs and I hit my face with my palm. Even when she's like this she flirts. We get to our room and parker lies Marina on her bed.  

"Thank you handsome." Marina says smiling. She turns around and closes her eyes quickly falling asleep. 

I look at her concerned. "Is that okay, for her to sleep now?" I ask Parker. 

He is looking at me with a serious expression. "Doesn't look like she has a concussion so it's fine. By the way, what was that?" 

I look at him panicking.  

("Crap! Did he noticed I was the one controlling the wind?") 

"What was what?" I ask playing dumb. 

"Luke and Isaac, the way they were both acting, what was that?" He says still looking at me with a serious expression. 

("Oh thank god!") 

"How should I know, It's a wolf thing right? Ask them." I say. 

("I really don't know why he's asking me, I'm just as confused as everyone else.") 

 He nods and starts to walk out but stops and looks at me.  

"You have balls shoving an Alpha like that. You're lucky he didn't rip your head off." He says looking amused and then walks out of the room. 

"More like stupid of me, I really wasn't thinking." I sigh and sit on my bed.  

Just the first day of school and I almost started a fight with and Alpha, I almost gave my powers away, and then I missed my Spells and Potion's class. I'm starting to think that being in this school is going to be problematic.
