Of Wolves and Dragons

Chapter Three

 I wake up startled and quickly remember where I am.  

It's about six in the morning. It still looks dark outside and Marina is still sleeping. I get up and stretch, I head to the window and lookout.  

I can see the dark forest the mansion is surrounded with, it looks like it goes for miles. I stay there staring at it for a while until I see some guys come out of it in just their shorts.  

"The werewolves." 

"What!" I yell jumping. 

Marina is standing behind me. This girl is going to give me a heart attack. 

She giggles. "Sorry, I was saying those are the werewolves, they go for runs in the mornings. They are the only ones that are allowed to go out of the school at night." 

"Oh! Why?" I ask. 

"Well, they are temperamental and runs in the forest calm them down.... you really don't know anything about other supernatural beings, do you?" She asks. 

"No, I really don't."  

"Oh boy, all I'm gonna say is good luck today." She says looking worried. 

I giggle nervously. I really hope it goes well. 

I decide to take a shower and when I get out, I put my new uniform on. The uniform is composed of a pleated skirt two inches over my knees. It's dark green and has yellow lines making it plaid. It has a solid dark green blazer with the school logo on the right, a white button shirt underneath, and a dark green plaid tie that matches the skirt with black standard shoes and white socks. 

 I pat my skirt and look in the mirror. I look good in this, it fits perfectly. I brush my hair and leave it down. One thing I like to do is take care of my hair, it's wavy and goes all the way to my hips. I make sure that my amulet is tucked inside my shirt and grab my bag.  

"Ready?" Marina asks getting up. 

I sigh. "Yea." 

We head out and walk downstairs to the lunchroom, there are not a lot of students in the morning. We have breakfast and then head to class. I see everyone running around trying to get to their classes.  

"So your first class is Super-naturals. I already took that class last semester so you are on your own there and on your last class Spells and Potions as well cause I'm not a witch. All the other ones we have together so I'll come to find you after the first period." 

"Okay." I say feeling nervous. 

She takes me to the classroom and waves goodbye. I go in and there are only a few students seated. There are two girls in the back that start laughing and whispering to each other looking at me. One of them has a short straight bob, she has brown eyes and her hair is platinum blond like mine but obviously not natural cause you can see her brown roots starting to grow.  The other one has long straight brown hair.   

I sigh internally and then stop in my tracks, not knowing if I am allowed to sit anywhere I want. 

"New girl!" I hear a husky deep voice coming from behind me that startles me. I turn around and see a huge guy looking down at me with beautiful sky-blue eyes. He's sun-tanned and has a buzz cut but is not too short. I can see the edges of a tattoo peeking from the shirt on his neck and even with his uniform you can tell that he is very muscular. He is very attractive, and if I am correct, he is a werewolf.   

I stare at him feeling something I have never felt before, there's something about him. He stares back at me also looking like he's trying to figure something out. I didn't notice that I was just standing there, staring at him. 

He clears his throat and lifts an eyebrow up. "Move" He says almost growling. 

Without a second thought, I move to the side and he starts walking past me. He stops and turns around and looks at me. 

"You smell good, but if you keep hanging with that human girl, you'll start to stink." He turns around and sits in the seat next to that blond chick and the two stupid girls start laughing. 

("What an asshole.") 

 I start walking to the back, away from that guy, and sit at the end but he doesn't take his eyes off of me. I try to ignore it but it's really hard especially when he is that hot.  

("Stop it Victoria, boys are just distractions.") I say to myself. 

A small pale girl with light brown hair in a long ponytail and hazel eyes walks in my direction. She stops in front of me. 

"That's my seat." 

"Oh, I'm sorry." I say gathering my things to move. 

She smiles wide. "It's okay, I can sit in the one next to you. I'm Holly by the way." 

I smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Victoria" 

"Oh god, she has a knack for befriending looser." That blond girl says. 

Holly looks at her and if looks could kill, that blond chick would be dead.  

"Ignore her, that's Jillian, grade A b***h and slut. She opens her leg for every guy that gives her any attention." Holly says loudly rolling her eyes. 

I giggle and Jillian gives me a death glare. 

Most of the students arrive and then the teacher walks in.  

"Good morning students, please take a seat. Victoria, after class, come talk to me so I can give you the material for you to catch up." She says looking at me and I nod. 

"I'll help her catch up Mrs. Adams." That hot big guy says looking at me with a half-smile.  

"Isaac, If I was sure that schoolwork is what you had in mind, then I would say yes, but that's a big no!" Mrs. Adams says opening a book. He rolls his eyes at her and keeps staring at me.  

"Everyone open your book to-" Mrs. Adams is interrupted by the door swinging open. Another big guy with black hair, with a messy quiff hairstyle, light brown caramel eyes, light skin, muscular and tall with broad shoulders walks in. He looks sexy as hell. He looks like he just woke up and his first two buttons on his shirt are opened and his tie is missing.   

The teacher sighs. "Luke, that's the 3rd time this month. I get the whole wolfing out thing but you have to understand that it won't excuse you. This will be the last time I let it pass." 

("That's Luke? Jesus, I am done for. He is fine enough to eat.") 

The Luke guy nods and looks at the class and his eyes lock with mine. We stare at each other and I have that same feeling again, like with that Isaac guy.  

("What is this? I feel weird. Is this a special ability of werewolves?")  

He starts walking to his seat staring at me. Once he sits in an empty seat in the middle, he looks back at me over his shoulder and gives me a smile. 

(Oh my god, this is very dangerous. I don't understand how girls are not lining up to come to this school.)  

I look around the classroom and almost every guy is good-looking. How am I going to survive this school? 

The teacher starts the class and she starts talking about devils, apparently, that's the subject they are on right now. At the end of the class, I shiver at everything I learned today, and it's only morning. 

When class ended, Marina was already waiting for me. We had all our other morning classes together which I was relieved for. I didn't see Luke or Isaac in any of those other classes.  

Lunchtime comes and we head to the cafeteria. Apparently, they give you an hour for lunch. I was so surprised at that because at my last school they gave us only thirty minutes.  

The cafeteria was full so we took our food outside to the back of the school. Marina takes a small blanket from her backpack and sets it on the grass like a picnic. I look around and a lot of other students have done the same. 

"I like eating outside, it's more peaceful." She says. We sit and start eating. 

"So how has your first day of school been so far?" She asks stuffing her face with food. 

"I guess it has been fine, I mean first day of school for a new kid is never comfortable I guess. Oh! I saw that guy Luke at first period, we have that class together and he is HOT!" 

She laughs. "Yep, Luke is one of the four Alphas that go to this school and all those damned werewolves are hot as sin."  

I nod agreeing. "What's and Alpha anyways." 

She looks at me and shakes her head sighing. "There's a hierarchy of a sort in werewolf society. You have the normal wolves that are called Omega I think, then you have the Beta who is second in command in a pack and then the ones in command of a pack is the Alpha. Now not just anyone can take this position. They have to have Alpha blood to be able to command a pack. Basically, Alphas are the strongest in a pack. And they are also the most hotheaded." 

"I had no idea that that's how a werewolf pack worked." I say deep in thought. "And who are the other three Alphas in the school?" 

"Isaac, Finn, and Anika." She says. 

"Wait, that big guy with the buzz cut Isaac?" I ask surprised. 

"Yep, that's him and he dislikes humans." She says rolling her eyes. 

"Yea I met him at my first class, he's an asshole... a hot asshole." I think back to his beautiful eyes. 

Marina laughs nodding and agreeing. "Yea he tends to be the epitome of what an Alpha is, unlike Luke who is a bit more mellow."  

"And that over there is Finn." She says pointing at the field next to us where some guys are playing football. She points at a tall guy with brown chin-length flowy hair and dark brown eyes with an Adonis physique. 

"Delicious right?" She says sighing like she's in a dream. 

I start laughing but nod because I agree, he does look delicious.  

"Hey, do you mind if I sit with you guys?" Holly asks walking over to us. 

I smile. "I don't mind." And look at Marina who looks surprised. She nods and gives Holly a smile.  

Holly sits next to us and giggles at my confused look. "I tend to keep to myself, that's probably why Marina was surprised." 

"Yea I mean, I've only seen you with that one guy but then again I was the same before Vic here arrived yesterday." She says now laughing. 

I look at Holly with a curious expression. "Are you a vampire?" 

She smiles and nods. "But don't worry, we aren't allowed to suck people's blood here. We have blood bags." 

I still look at her curious. "How are you out in the sun?" 

She lifts her hand up and shows me a ring. I nod in understanding.  

"Every vamp in school gets one of these." She says. 

("Like my amulet, she also has an enchanted ring.") 

"So you were talking about boys huh?" Holly asks. 

"Oh god was it that obvious?" I ask embarrassed. 

Holly laughs. "The way you were both looking at Finn Belfield gave it away." 

Marina smiles. "Yeah well you can't blame us, the guys are-"delicious!" They both say at the same time. We all laugh and enjoy the view.  

"By the way, I saw that look that Luke gave you in class." Holly says. 

Marina gasps. "You didn't tell me of this!"  

She looks at me squinting her eyes. 

"Yea and Isaac didn't take his eyes off of her either." Holly says. 

I shrug my shoulders not knowing what to say. 

"Do you know how rare that is? Not just two werewolves but two Alphas giving you the time of day." Marina sighs like she's in a dream. 

"Talking about the devil, there's Luke." Holly says pointing at the stairs going down to the courtyard.  

He walks to the guys that are playing football and starts unbuttoning his shirt. I feel like I'm in heaven right now cause if I thought he was sexy before, he looks like an Olympian god now. 

Marina giggles. "You better stop thinking of nasty thoughts Vic.'' 

I panic. "WHY? Don't tell me they can read minds too!!" 

Holly and Marina start laughing. "No! It's just that it almost looks like you are drooling." 

I take a deep breath cause for a moment there, I thought I was in deep s**t. 

We hear someone laughing near us. "Look at them, they look so pathetic gawking at guys they will never have." Jillian says walking by us with her friend.  

("You know, she is really starting to piss me off. This whole ‘keep your head down’ thing is starting to wear off on me. With a flick of my fingers, I could easily set her on fire... but that would be problematic.") 

"Oh, and you could?" Holly says at her in a mocking tone. "Weren't you dating Luke once? And once he found out what a nasty person you were, he dumped you like you were nothing." 

Her face twists in anger and she starts walking over to the guys. 

"Watch this." Holly says with a smile. 

Jillian walks in the middle of the field and the guys have to stop playing because of her. She walks directly to Luke, she grabs him by the back of the neck and pulls him down to kiss him but he abruptly jerks back pushing her away, looking at her with an annoyed surprised expression. 

"What the hell is wrong with you!" He says to her. 

"Oh come on, we were all over each other at the last grove party." She says seductively. 

"Yea that's because I was drunk... which now I vow never to do again." He says. 

He turns around and walks off. All the guys start laughing and so do we. Her face is red and she walks off in the opposite direction. 

Holly has tears in her eyes while she laughs. "She has been trying to get back with him for a year now and he doesn't give her the time of day. 

Marina looks at Holly. "That made my week. Good job Holly." 

I look at them and feel happy that I made two cool new friends.
