Cassandra showered and washed her hair before her date with Robert. Uh-oh….Sergio was rubbing off on her pretty badly. Not date…it was a meeting in an unofficial and neutral setting so that they could discuss an official matter. Even though she had told her brother several times that she hated the guts of that filthy conniving bastard she still could not give one proper answer to his question.

“Then why are you going to meet him Cass? I mean, as far as I know you, just the job offer is not full motivation enough for you to go on a date,” said Sergio and she had said that when she got a proper reply from her mind she would definitely come back and say it to him.

“Yeah!! I know that you will be doing that for sure Cass. But honestly, in my opinion for a person who keeps on breaking other people’s defenses in three-step method, you remain in denial almost regarding everything in your life and that is something that I can say for sure,” said Sergio and Cassandra had not said anything at all but she had scowled at him. When she was standing in her closet looking at all the dresses she owned and had packed while moving from New York she realized that even though she was the psychologist her brother had analyzed her absolutely perfect. She could not decide upon what dress she was going to wear when Sergio came inside and said,” Hey Cass!! I was thinking that since you are going out tonight on this date I am going to go visit Mom and dad.”

“I thought we were going to go visit them tomorrow for lunch?” asked Cassandra as she did not understand the sudden reason for her brother’s hasty departure.

“I just don’t want to be alone at home while you are gone sis. Nothing else. You know me, I am not the sit at home and bake for good type. Moreover Mom has asked me to come and stay over at the house for a few days until Dad’s retirement party and then I shall be leaving for Venice anyway,” said Sergio and Cassandra realized the reason that her brother did not want to go with her.

“Look Serge, if you want to go live with Mom and Dad then it is fine with me. I mean, I get it, you stay away and you miss them all and stuff but if you are thinking that you want me to shift with them as well just because you are then the answer to that is no. I know that Mom has put you up to it. But there is literally no point talking to me about it. I could have decided that when I came here from New York. But no, I got an apartment and then I shifted. So choose a dress for me and then go visit them,” said Cassandra as she turned away from her brother.

“You don’t need to be nasty for that Cass. I mean, they are your parents too. I get that you have differences with dad. I have it as well, you know that better than anyone but Mom suffers the most because of our quarrels,” said Sergio as he picked up a dark navy blue dress from the rack and placed it on her arm.

“Then why are you going tonight Serge? Let’s go tomorrow just like it was planned? What changed?” asked Cassandra as she looked at the dress and nodded appreciatively. Her brother’s sense of fashion and his radar for occasion was absolutely perfect and there could be no more comments on that.

“Dad is going to be away on some dinner function tonight and Mom is alone. So I thought I would go and spend some time with her. Maybe even take her shopping,” said Sergio with a saucy wink and Cassandra was forced to laugh.

“Then you are coming back home tonight and we will go together just like planned?” asked Cass and Sergio said,” Pinky swear.”

“Great. Now go and get changed. I am also going to get ready for my date,” said Cassandra as Sergio laughed out loud and then went out of the closet. It did not take a long time for Cassandra to get ready. After all she was not striving for a look which would be saying,” Come and get me” or something like that. She was going for a look which would say and show that I am looking good for my own sake and not for you and I know that. Also because I don’t need any validation from you.

Sometimes she got very angry because she had gotten her mother’s red hair and it made her look like Merda from Brave a lot of times but now she kept it under continuous care so that it remained soft and silky like a red mane hanging behind her. But when she was finally finished she looked at herself in the mirror and thought. To be honest, she really was very beautiful and she needed to appreciate herself more. She chose heels but not very high ones, in case she was asked to dance.

When she came out of the closet Sergio looked at her sister and whistled in appreciation.

“You are looking like a million dollars tonight sweetheart,” said Sergio as he offered his arm and Cassandra laughed out loud at his comment. Her brother knew just the right things to say at the right times and she took her clutch and the car keys and went out of her home.

“I am going to drop you at the house on my way to the restaurant and pray that I can make that i***t balk to all my needs and what I want from him. Once I get those then I am going to show him that he was always an i***t and I was far superior to him,” said Cassandra as Sergio rolled his eyes silently and they got in the car.
