Chapter 6: Demitri

1785 Words
After dinner, we parted ways with the girls and started heading towards the boy’s dorm on campus. As we crossed the quad, Zach stopped and turned around to face me. “You know all that needing help s**t was a lie, correct?” I scoff and shake my head. “You insult my intelligence with that question. Of course I knew. I also know why you are wanting to talk to me.” Zach sighs and runs a hand through his blonde hair. He shakes his head and stares into my eyes. Only a future leader had the balls to do something like.. Well, a future leader and Emily. “I think she might be my mate.” I sigh and nod my head. “I think she might be my mate as well. We won’t know until her birthday. Do you know who all are invited to her party next week?” Zach sighs and nods his head. “Yeah… All of us are invited to the party. Her parents probably realize that she is the key element to the prophecy.” I sigh and shake my head. I hate that stupid prophecy, but I know it by heart. “A golden hair beauty will be fated to the leaders of all the races. She will usher in a period of peace that will either end the strife amongst the nations or start a war that will destroy the world.” I sigh and shake my head. “I was hoping that we wouldn’t be the ones who made the prophecy come true.” Zach sighs and nods his head too. “I know, mate. I was hoping that it would be our children or our grandchildren. What are we going to do? The other four are going to be just as possessive over her as we are now and there is no hope of them being willing to cooperate with each other like we are.” I shake my head. “I don’t see why not. We are sworn mortal enemies, but when it came down to her, we could both sense the other’s intentions towards her. I knew that you weren’t there to cause trouble with her when the fight broke out between her and the other girls. I knew you were there to help protect her.” He nods his head and grimaces. “Why do you think she didn’t want to tell us that the girls were bullying her?” I sigh and shrug my shoulders. “Be honest, would you have believed her prior to witnessing it first hand?” He sighs and shakes his head. “Honestly, no. I would have gone and asked Samantha her side of the story and then when they didn’t add up, I probably would have ultimately taken her side. You, before today, I’ve never actually eaten in the dining hall.” I smirk and nod my head. “I understand what you mean. The only reason I was even near Emily today was because her scent turned into something a bit magical.” He nods his head and squints his eyes. “Yeah, like her scent intensified or something overnight. I wonder what could have sparked that? Maybe she is early scenting or something since she is the prophecy child?” I shake my head and shrug my shoulders. “I have no idea. I do know that whoever had the bright idea of putting her and Samantha together should be beat.” Zach shakes his head and sighs. “It wasn’t anybody’s idea. There are an odd number of werewolf females and an odd number of human females. Somewhere, the two races were going to have to share a room. I think the administration was thinking that since she was a leader’s child, she would be the best one to mix with another race.” I sigh and nod my head. “I think you might be right… Now, do you think we should call the other four and tell them what we think is going to happen?” Zach runs a hand through his hair and sighs. He looks into my eyes and shakes his head. “I don’t know. I think if we warn them ahead of time, it would end up with a better outcome, but if we don’t it would be more natural.” I nod my head. “But, is the natural option what we want to go with? I don’t want to ruin her birthday because the other four decide to fist fight for her.” Zach sighs and shakes his head. “You’re right. I think we should go ahead and call the other two. Will you take the warlock and the demon? I’ll take the werebear and the angel?” I nod my head and sigh. “Yes, I will call those two and you call the other two.” I sigh and shake my head. “This is going to be a fun conversation. Wish me luck. The warlock is pretty easy going, but that demon jackass is going to be the difficult one to convince otherwise.” He smirks and chuckles low. “I agree. Why is it that the two on the true opposite sides of the spectrum are going to be the most difficult to deal with?” I shake my head and shrug. “I have no clue. Take care of Emily tomorrow. I know you two are in the same classes all day.” He smirks and nods his head. “I will. Thanks for looking out for her today.” I smile. “No problem.” We part ways with those words. I head to my dorm room and Zach heads to his. I share a room with my future advisor. He is a good companion to have because he is always there and is always willing to help. I push open the door to our dorm room and see him lying on his bed with his feet kicked up on his comforter. He pushes himself up and gives me a greeting head bow. “Prince Demitri. How was your night?” I sigh and wave a hand at him. “Cut the s**t, Nicolas. You know exactly what has been going on and exactly how my night has gone.” He smirks and nods his head. “You are right… So, which one are you going to call first?” I pull out my phone and sigh. “I suppose I will call them at the same time and put them on a conference call.” He smirks and nods his head. “Wise choice. Do you want me to leave?” I shake my head as I start to dial the warlock. “No. I will need emotional support.” The phone rings three times before the warlock picks up. “Vampire… What do you want?” I huff and roll my eyes. “Hold on. I need to add one more person to the phone call.” I put the warlock on hold and called the demon. His phone rings twice when he picks it up. I cut in quickly before he can speak. “Hold on, I need to merge the calls.” I click a button and then put the phone back up to my ear. “Are you both there?” “I’m here, Vampire. Who else is on this call?” The demon seems in his usual mood tonight. “I am, jackass,” the warlock states. “Okay, Vampire. Why are you calling us during drinking hours? This better be f*****g important.” I sigh. “It is… First, did you both get an invitation to a birthday party next Friday?” “I did.” The demon huffs. “I did too… Why do you ask?” The warlock seems to be closer to understanding than the demon does. I sigh and shake my head. “The invitation was to Emily Smith’s birthday party… The werewolf and I think she is fated to the both of us.” The demon scoffs. “Well, congratulations. Do you want a cookie? Well, a blood cookie? Why does it matter?” “It matters because if she is fated to both of them, then she is probably the girl from the prophecy, dumbass! Demitri, are you two sure?” The warlock seems shaken by this news. I sigh. “We can’t be one hundred percent sure until her birthday, but we are both pretty sure.” He and the demon both sigh. “Alright… I take it you are telling us to try and prevent ruining her birthday party if this is the case?” I nod my head. “I am. I don’t want her birthday party ruined because of us acting like fools.” The demon sighs. “Alright… Who is telling the other two?’ “The wolf is telling the bear and the angel.” I look at Nicolas and sigh. “We decided to divide and conquer on this matter.” The warlock sighs and then I hear someone take a sip of something. “Do you think she is going to be ready? You know, to take on the role that she is going to be forced into?” I sigh. “I don’t know, but we will have to help her get ready if she isn’t.” The demon sighs. “Good answer. Alright, it is late and I have an eight o’clock class. I need my beauty sleep before going into that hell hole.” The warlock smirks. “You were literally born in hell.” “f**k you… Goodnight.” The demon hangs up before we can respond. I sigh and shake my head. “We can discuss more on the matter at a later time. Have a good night Demitri.” I nod my head. “You as well, Drake. Text me when you want to talk. It might be wise to start a group chat between the six of us.” He chuckles. “That wouldn’t be a bad idea. Talk to you later.” He hangs up the phone and I plop down on my bed. I am already drained from all the excitement today. I roll over and look at Nicolas. “What do I have planned for tomorrow?” Nicolas chuckles and shakes his head. “You have school, sir. Is everything okay?” I nod my head and roll onto my back. I stare up at the ceiling and feel my eyes start to get heavy. “It will be when this all has passed.”
