EPISODE 12- STROLLING IN THE NIGHT

“The sword of Sol Invictus? What a strange name for a skill. Hey, Xyra can you explain what does this skill do?”

“Affirmative sir, the sword of Sol Invictus, a sword nicknamed after the Roman's mythological God of Sun which is also known as the patron of soldiers. This skill creates a laser sword in your left arm that can cut through metal like butter. Instead of using blades, this sword uses heat as its own blades, it solidifies heat in a sword-like shape. From its name, the temperature is similar to the sun, but you have to be careful when using this skill as it overheats your entire body for a certain period of time. ”

“What happens if my body overheats?”

“You will lose 80% of your mobility, haven't I told you about this before sir.”

“Ahh, I remember now, the time when I shut down myself. Now that you brought that up, could you please not tell me to shut down for a long period of time. I kinda don't wanna deal with that darkness again.”

“Affirmative!”

That night I didn't shut down myself, I who was alone in my room stayed up all night. The quiet silence in the middle of the night somewhat bored my soul. I then looked at my two dusty windows, which allowed me to get a glimpse of the shining full moon.

Particles of dust can be seen floating along with the rays of light that the moon gave off. Giving a sign that my room was quite old and needs a little bit more cleaning. This is boring but better than the last time where I can only see never-ending darkness.

As time passed, I asked Xyra again regarding the new skill I have unlocked.

“Hey Xyra, can I unlock that skill?”

“Which skill sir?”

“The sword of Sol Invictus”

“Yes you can sir, all you need is some skill points to buy that skill. Which you already have sufficient points to unlock it.”

“How many points do I need to unlock it?”

“To unlock the sword of Sol Invictus you need 8 skill points. You can just select the skill icon and it will automatically be embedded into your armor and system. ”

I then did what Xyra told me, I went back on my status board and tapped on the icon of the skill. After tapping the icon of the skill I noticed that my skill points dropped down from 24 to 16.

Something then started to materialize in my left arm. Green dust particles gathered near my left wrist and started to form some kind of a weirdly shaped square object. After five minutes the green like dust disappeared after they formed an oddly shaped object that starts from my arm and ends near my wrist.

The part that was near my wrist resembled the sharp V tip of a sword. I then looked at my fist which allowed me to get a better view of this new contraption. As I turn my fist to face me, I was able to see that there were a few centimeters of gaps between the top and bottom part.

I then stretched my arm out and tried the skill. A thin glass-like yellow-colored blade pop out of the two gaps. I then noticed that the blade of the sword lighted my entire room. I then moved it closer to my face and looked at it with fascination and intrigue.

Its bright yellow color glow reflected in the glass part of my helmet. After looking at it, I then tried swinging it, after doing a few swings with my new skill I immediately concluded these things.

“This sword is so light I expected it to have weight but I guess it doesn't have. The temperature of the sword is also something else, according to my sensors it exceeds 2000°C. Which I think is capable of cutting through metal like a hot knife on butter, but this time it's really hot. ”

After observing the sword, I was gonna test it by slicing something. I immediately looked for any useless objects in my room but sadly I was not able to find anything. I then got out of my room and looked outside for any objects that I could practice with my sword. Again, I did not find anything that should be sliced or destroyed. So I went for a stroll in the middle of the night on the streets.

After searching in the middle of the night, I stumbled on a scene that would probably be normal for all kinds of suspicious people in the modern-day. It was people in the middle of the night loading stuff into their carriage. Thinking to myself for a few seconds, I suddenly realize that the people in front of me were thugs, which just made me look like an i***t coming from modern society.

I then moved toward the people who were loading stuff from a house to a carriage. As I walk toward the suspicious people, one of them noticed me and had a surprised expression written all over his faces. Well, it might be due to the shock that someone caught them in the act of doing something suspicious in the middle of the night. His comrades who just loaded some stuff went back again to the house to steal more stuff.

So only one of the people was left outside and it was the one who noticed me. He was wearing a normal shirt and normal trousers, he then drew his sword. This person then pointed his sword towards me and asked me.

“Who are you and what are you doing at this hour?”

“I could ask you the same questions.”

Cold sweat suddenly appeared on the man's forehead after I spoke, not only that but Xyra notified me that his pulse has risen. Meaning that the man became nervous after hearing my voice. Well, it might be due to the shock that he wasn't able to tell his buddies about me.

The man spoke again but with a more nervous tone, “Uh, we are a moving merchant who has occupied this house for a month. Now we are planning to leave to go to the next town. ”

“A traveling merchant eh!? It's rare for a traveling merchant to carry art stuff and furniture. Would you mind telling me what you guys are selling?”

The man looked away from me a moment before answering my question. “Were selling art and furniture, so you may leave us alone as we are busy.”

“Then I would like to offer some help to you…”

“NO NEED STRANGER!”

As I and the man conversing, a half-naked girl suddenly came out of the house's door crying for help. The man had a dumbfounded look in his face as the half-naked girl exits the house. The man who I was speaking with, suddenly launches towards me with his sword.

“Die! ”

Chiing! The man's sword created a spark as it slid off my armor due to it being unable to penetrate my armor. The man looked at me like I was some sort of monster. The half-naked girl who was crying for help had a combination of dumbfounded and relieved expression.

I then looked down at the man and raised my left arm. I then activated my sword of Sol Invictus skill, which released the yellow like glass edge blades. I then slashed the man in front of me but the man used his sword to block the incoming strike.

What the man did was futile, as my sword sliced his sword which seems to be made of iron, like a knife cutting through a piece of paper. This caused the man to be sliced diagonally and to my surprise, my sword was able to slice an entire man's body without any problems.

Blood suddenly gushed out of the man's sliced body. The girl who saw this was in shock and she dropped down to her knees and seemed to not believe that she saw a man cut in half. Another man came out of the house and dashed towards the stunned girl.

“There you are girlie let me have a taste!”

The man then forced himself above the girl who was able to compose herself and started to struggle from the man's grip. I then move toward the direction of the girl and the man.

“I can't believe that there are pigs like you that exist here.”

The man heard my voice and turned to look at my direction. He was not able to notice me before, as he was too focused on the girl than his surroundings. The man looked at me and pulled his dagger and pointed it towards me. But he suddenly saw one of his buddies sliced in half on the ground, he then started to tremble upon seeing the corpse.

“What have you done to him!?” yelled the suspicious man.

“I killed him, is something wrong with that?”

“How dare you kill him!?” After saying those words the man pulled out a scroll from his satchel and threw it on the ground. I immediately stopped my advance after seeing the scroll.

A magic circle suddenly appeared on the ground where the scroll landed. Xyra then explained to me what was the scroll.

“A teleportation scroll, it allows people that had put their blood on the scroll be teleported where the scroll has been used.”

Four other people have then teleported, all of them had shocked faces. But it seems they're actions somewhat tell me that they are planning something when will they are going to use the scroll, they immediately pulled their weapons out. The four people then looked at my direction due to that, they were also able to see their fallen comrade, which I just killed.

“Mora! Were you the one who did that to him!?!” Yelled by one of the four people that were teleported.

“Yes, and it was quite easy, he was so weak that he died in one slash.”

The guy who asked me suddenly dashed forward me with his dagger. But before he was able to reach me, I immediately slashed my sword, and the guy's head immediately disconnected from his body.

The three guys remaining and the guy who teleported them here looked at me with horror as they saw their comrade got beheaded without even putting up a fight. The guy who teleported them even peed his pants, this guy then stood up ignoring the girl he was chasing before who was now on the ground. He then started to sprint away from the scene but I immediately pulled my pistol and fired at the man's leg.

The other three thugs looked shocked as they saw their comrades got shot in the leg with a strange weapon. All of the three guys remaining started shaking after seeing all the events that involved me in just a few minutes.

“Are we gonna die here!?” asked one of the three thugs to his comrade.

“I think we are, as we are facing some kind of monster.”

“Let's just accept our faith my comrades, but we will not die without PUTTING UP A FIGHT!”

The two then looked at the last man who spoke with glistening eyes. They then pulled out their own individual weapons, one of them pulled a sword from his waist, another pulled a dagger and the last one pulled his sword. All three of them charged forward me without any hesitation.

As they got in my sword's range, I immediately performed a 360° rotation. Which allowed me to behead all of them once. I kinda respect them for charging at me even though they had no chance of winning. But now I have to torture someone who I shot in the leg, I always hated people who leave their comrade to save themselves.

I then went toward the last guy who tried running away from me. As I arrive at the guy who was still trying to escape by crawling, I stepped on his injured leg which made him scream with agony.

I then started to think for a second if I should kill him now or let the guards handle this guy. After being unable to decide, I immediately grabbed the guy's feet and dragged him back to the girl.

The girl who was still on the ground crying, grabbed the dagger that the guy left laying on the ground next to her. She then dashed toward me and aimed the dagger at the man I was dragging. The dagger pierces through the man's body as the girl stabbed him mercilessly.

I didn't stop the girl from stabbing the man as he deserved it. A few moments, the man who has been stabbed multiple times by the girl was now dead. The sun was also rising and guards who started patrolling the town saw us, who immediately rushed to our direction.

The guards immediately hold me in custody with the girl. I then realized that the girl was a maid of a low class noble, as the guards told me. The guards immediately identified the people I killed, they were actually one of the most notorious criminals in the town, which had crimes ranging from illegal slave trading, r**e, thief, and murder.

After an interrogation, the guards let me off the hook. They said that I have done nothing wrong, they were even thankful that I was able to eliminate some of the most wanted criminals in this town. After getting off the hook, the girl whom I saved spoke to me.

“Uhm, Thank you, Mr. ”

“Destroyer, I am an F-class adventurer. ”

The girl then started to sob and thanked me again, “Thank you Mr. Destroyer, if you weren't there I might have been tainted by that pig.”

“Ok see ya, I still have work to do.” I didn't care about this girl anyways.

“Wait! Mr. Destroyer I want to give you something as a sign of sincerity in thanking you.”

“Don't need it.”

I then arrived at the guild and noticed a lot of the adventurers were gathered in the quest area. I also went there to see what the commotion was all about. I then saw a giant poster for a mission with the words OBLIGATORY MISSION written on it with bold letters. The reward for the mission was also large, which would even force the unwilling ones to join. But no one in the guild can't turn this down as it is an obligatory mission. Which means you should participate whether you like it or not.
