Aleksandr POV
What's your name? Where am I? What do you want with me?
“My name is Aleksandr. We are in the Silver Creek pack. And I want you to get better.” I said. I may have held back the term “mate” right now.. I didn’t want to scare her even more.
I wanted to hold her in my arms but I knew she wouldn’t let me. Nor anytime in the near future, either. In my dreams.. I’d see her. She’d never say anything, but she always looked at me with pleading eyes.
I knew in my dreams she was my mate. So I scoured the earth for years, gaining pack members left and right from Alphas who thought challenging me was a good idea. I’m not just any, alpha. I’m half Lycan. Which means I can shift into both forms at my convenience. I killed Samuel in Lycan form.
Are you a wolfman? -she wrote. I chuckled but hesitated to answer.. though, I knew to earn her trust I would need to be honest. Plus, she’s already seen some of it.. just not all of it.
“Yes. Does that scare you?” I asked.
She nodded her head. Great. My mate is scared of me.
I wondered if asking her if I could stay would be too much.. I wanted to ask.. but I knew she’d say no. Instead, I decided to mind link two of my best warriors to watch over her room.
“I think I will let you have some rest,” I said. She looked so much better already. Her hair was washed, brushed out, and braided. She had long strawberry blonde hair, and light freckles on and around her nose and cheeks. She was sunburnt and looked incredibly exhausted.
Though I wanted to stay and stare at my beautiful mate.. because the bond is so fresh, I want to attack her and mate her. And with her not wanting to touch me.. or me touch her, it’s best if I leave.
She nodded her head and scooted down, laying her head on the pillow and staring at the ceiling.
“May I bring you breakfast in the morning?” I asked. She looked at me, confusion clear on her face and I smiled.
“You don’t have to. I’d just like to get to know you better. Breakfast is a good opportunity for that.” I said.
She nodded her head but I could tell she wasn’t sure about it.
“I will bring breakfast and if you don’t want me to come in just tell the nurse before I arrive. That way you’ll get to eat good food either way. Let’s say.. 8:30?” I asked.
She silently nodded her head, her face void of emotion. It kills me to see my mate like this. I just need her to open up to me.
I looked at her once again before nodding and walking out of the room.
“Vavara..” I said to myself after closing the door.
The sound of her name rolling off my tongue gives me goosebumps. I’ve never felt like this about a woman before. It is indeed thrilling.
“How is the Luna?” Toras asked when I shut the door.
“She seems.. a little better. Did Efim find anything about the plane?” I asked.
“Nope. It’s not registered to anyone. Just some random ghost plane.” He said.
“Well, what about the bodies? Surely, the coroner has some idea as to who they are.” I said.
“I will check, Alpha. Did you find out anything from her?” He asked. I crossed my arms and took a deep breath.
“Her name is Vavara. She says she doesn’t remember anything from before the crash, and to top that off.. she’s been out there this entire time.” My blood began to sizzle just speaking about it.
“Wait like.. you mean out in the airplane wreckage?” He asked and I nodded my head.
“Wow man, that’s.. a lot to take in. There’s nobody for miles. Just forest upon forest. She would’ve had to walk forever to even find this place. And we definitely didn’t go the speed limit when we drove here..” He said.
“Your driving may be terrifying, but it’s efficient.” My hands started shaking as my mind drifted to my mate.
“I need to get out of here. Just being around her is driving me crazy.” I said as I looked back at her room door.
“You’re right man, let’s get out of here.” Toras said. We walked down the hall, everyone bowing their heads in respect as I passed them. I didn’t care much for it.. but I never stopped them. I can be brutal to those that oppose me but I’m kind to them and and care for my pack deeply.
“Okay I have an idea. But.. Don’t be mad. Okay? Okay. So.. Clover is kind of throwing a party in the pack house.. if that’s where you’re thinking about going. She announced it like.. 10 minutes after we left to survey the grounds for the new posts.. we could get some drinks there.” Toras said. I looked back at him and grunted.
“We just killed their Alpha and took over the pack.. now they’re celebrating with us?” I scoffed.
“Most of them hated him. He was and I’m quoting Clover on this “a lazy, smelly, perverted son of a tw*t.” So yeah, I guess they are.” He said. I rolled my eyes and mind-linked the guards I had placed at Vavara’s room door.
“Everything going okay?” I asked. My hands began shaking again and I grabbed them tightly, massaging each hand with the other thumb.
“She’s still in bed. Hasn’t moved since you left.” Nikolai said.
“Keep me updated every 10 minutes,” I said.
“Yes, Alpha,” Nik replied and I cut the link.
“Well, let’s walk to the pack house then, shall we? I have a party to break up.” I said.
“A few drinks first?” Toras asked.
I didn't want to.. I just wanted to go to my office and drink there, but I guess I can steal a few drinks from the party I’m about to crash.
“Fine,” I said.
As we got closer to the pack house the music grew louder. I knew I couldn’t trust Clover and Efim to watch over the pack while I was gone. Clover is reckless, she does everything without having a thought process. Efim is the smarter one, but he doesn’t like telling people no. And Clover is very persuasive. At this point, it seems as if I was asking for this to happen just by leaving them two together.
I felt a tug the farther I got away from Vavara and I took a deep breath.
“I want her in my room. I.. I don’t know anything about her. Her clothes size.. nothing. So I want Mrs. Selby and Minerva to switch with my quarters' maids for the time being. They can help her.” I said.
“Mrs. Selby? Yes. Minerva? I don’t think having her clean your quarters and help your mate is a good idea. Do you?” Toras asked. I looked at him questionably and shook my head.
“No, Minerva is a kind girl, she’s very helpful and knows her way around clothes. I feel like she’s a good idea.” I said. Toras shook his head but never replied. Why did he think she was a bad idea?
