Vavara POV
I kept a close eye on the man walking toward me. Then in a quick glance, I looked at the door that stood between the doctors and him and me. Would they be able to help me if he tried to kill me like the other man? That man crushed my windpipe and vocal cords so bad I had to have surgery. They say it could take weeks. And my voice might never be the same again, if it comes back at all.
I made sure to always know where he was to me.. I don’t want to put myself In the position to be caught blindsided. I watched out the corner of my eye as he sat in the chair, but didn’t move any farther.
“Hello,” he said.
My eyes flashed to his and butterflies erupted in my stomach. I looked away immediately, disgusted with myself and afraid.
“You can look at me. I won’t hurt you. I don’t want to hurt you. And the man that did hurt you is no longer alive.” He growled. I groaned in fear and jumped off of the bed, my sewn up leg giving in and I fell toward the ground.
Before I could even make contact, he was holding me in the blink of an eye. I hadn’t realized he had even moved.
“I’m sorry.” He said as he held my head and my lower back with his hands. I looked up at him and when I felt the butterflies again, I yanked away. My arm stung with the quick movement and I squeezed my eyes shut in pain.
“Do you need anything? Food? Water? Medicine to help with the pain? A shower? I’m not here to hurt you.. I just want to help you.” He said. I felt my walls drop a little and I nodded my head. My throat was so sore.. the nurse told me not to try and speak just yet because of surgery.
“I’ll have the nurse come help you.” He said. His eyes glazed over and I jumped, staring at them curiously until the door opened.
“We have a notepad for writing so we can all speak. The shower is in here. You will need assistance any time you need to go to the bathroom. Just hit this button a few times and a nurse will come and assist you.” The nurse said. Another nurse wheeled in a wheelchair beside the bed and smiled at me.
“Come, Luna.” She said. I c****d my head confused at her but she never said anything else. What’s a Luna?
I scooted to the edge of the bed, still trying my best to keep the wolf man in my view as the nurses helped me into the chair. He stared at me like a predator stares at prey and It made me want to climb into a hole and hide forever.
“Be careful with her.” He snapped when one of the nurses fumbled with my leg.
I went to speak when my swollen throat reminded me it wasn’t possible and I began to cry.
“What? What’s wrong? Did they hurt you?” He asked in a frantic voice.. though it was also angry.. so angry I could almost feel it myself.
He handed me the notepad and a pen and I began writing even though my arm was in a world of pain.
You’re being to harsh- I wrote.
He looked up at me and stepped back.
“I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be.” He said. He took a deep breath and spoke again.
“I will leave you be. I’m just outside if you need me.” He said and walked to the door. He halfway looked back before twisting the knob and walking out.
“Don’t worry, miss Luna. It’s only because of the bond. He cares for you. That is why he is so harsh.” One of the nurses said. I looked at her questionably but didn’t bother as they wheeled me to the shower.
I tried my best to stay clean out there. All the months with no one around for miles.. I got lost for a week when I ventured away from the plane. After I found it again, I promised never to leave the plane again. Surely someone was going to find me, right?
The cockpit landed in a lake. I tried swimming to it a few times, but I never could make it deep enough. I tried my best to stay away from the passenger part of the plane.. that’s where I watched a man die, it was about 5 minutes from the cockpit.
But that lake saved me. Many baths.. many nights of thirst. Hunger..
the nurse noticed I was struggling to wash my hair so she leaned in and helped.
“What were you doing in plane wreckage, miss Luna? If I may ask..” the nurse's voice grew smaller as she finished speaking.
I shrugged my shoulders. I honestly couldn’t tell her even if I tried. I don’t know what I was doing there. Or why.
“I’m sorry, miss Luna. You’re just a curious little thing.” She said. A small smile formed on her face as she poured soap into her hands and began massaging it into my scalp.
•••••••••••••••••••••
Thank you. - I wrote on the notepad.
“My pleasure, Miss Luna.” She said. It had taken her a while, and it hurt more than you could ever imagine.. but, we got my hair brushed out and braided. She also made sure I had water and left the room.
I could feel that he was close. Like he said, “just outside”. For some reason I had urges to pounce on him.. but then I snap out of it and realize what was going on. He’s my captor. I may as well be his slave if he wishes.
The handle to the door jiggled and I sat up, throwing the covers over my scarred legs with the intent to hide them. Though I’m sure everyone here has already seen them.
I don’t know who did this to my body or why.. maybe that’s why I was on that airplane. Running away from it. I don’t see what anyone in their right mind wouldn’t think to.
“Can I come in?” The Alpha asked. I slowly nodded my head and he walked in, closing the door behind him and standing there.
“Can I ask you for your name?” He asked. I looked at him like he was crazy. My name? That’s the only thing I have left from my previous life.
Why should I tell you? - I wrote. He seemed worried about this and shrugged his shoulders.
“I just wanted to know literally anything about you.” He said. I felt a wave of guilt flow through me and I nodded.
Vavara, I think. -I wrote
“You think?” He asked. He sat down and looked at me confused. I took a moment to take in his handsome features.. his nice tan skin, and auburn hair. Sharp jawline and muscles upon muscles.
I pulled myself out of my thoughts and wrote.
I don’t remember.
“Don’t remember what?” He asked. I huffed and began to write again.
The plane crash. I don’t remember anything from before it.
“But that must’ve been months ago.. I saw other bodies, they were already really decayed. How are you alive?” He asked.
I don’t know. - I wrote. He looked at me confused but didn’t press further. I wonder. Would he be upset if I asked him a few questions?
Can I ask you some things? -I wrote. A small smile appeared on his face that made my heart leap 30 yards.
“What would you like to know, Vavara?” He asked.
What do you want with me?- I wrote.
