CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Sitting at the table in her apartment, Marley stabbed her fork into the lunch Von had heated up. She had no appetite. No job, either.
Her well-planned career was a mess because of being fired. Her goal of being a partner at RMF was over. Her hard work had been for nothing. Her legacy after years of employment there was to be fodder for jokes in the break room.
She buried her face in her hands. “I can’t believe this is happening.”
Another text notification sounded. No doubt, one of her siblings. She’d spoken to her parents when Von was preparing their lunch, but she couldn’t talk about this right now.
Not when she wanted to scream and cry.
She didn’t know how to handle being fired or what she would do now.
