CHAPTER 28 Ruby stayed on her back staring at the ceiling. She wouldn’t have to go to Grandma Lucy’s party all alone after all. The only problem was she had absolutely no idea what to wear. Thank God for her best friend. “Hello?” Jessi was breathless when she picked up. “Oh no. Is he already there? Has he already left?” Ruby stared at the phone. It was Jessi’s voice, but she had no idea what she was talking about. “What?” Jessi cleared her throat and responded with an innocent, “Oh, never mind. Thought you were someone else.
