The following morning Jayda gets ready for work. She is all dressed up and ready to start her first day. She sees her father's guards prepared to follow her as she walks out. She knows it means only one thing the scandal on the internet and in tabloids has not gone away yet. Her father, uncles, and brothers can make it disappear, but everyone now knows who she is, and they will not leave her alone. She feels like the doctors and nurses at the hospital will not have respect for her after what happened. She can only hope it does not impact her work, as Victoria still has some fans.
Jayda frowns. Did Jason call her father and ask him to send the guards? He said he would make sure she was okay.
Jason walks out at the same time Jayda walks out. He is on his way to his office. He takes Jayda's hand, and she can only smile as she does not want to make a scene in front of the guards as they will tell her father.
Jason looks calm, and his face is expressionless as they walk out of the building together, holding hands. He leads her to his Bentley and opens the door for her. He walks around the car and gets in on the other side. The paparazzi and media are all over, but they can not get near the couple as the guards will not allow them.
"Why did you put on a show like that? I could have driven to my work by myself as my father's guards are here." Jayda says. She feels a little pissed off at Jason for taking over her life like this.
"We are a couple, and I should look after you. I will not let you face the wolves of the media all by yourselves, Jayda. Stop being childish and play along. I made a statement this morning that we will not tolerate the media at your job as it will disturb your patience. I made a few calls and got my attorneys to let all the paparazzi, social media influencers and tabloids know that no one will be allowed near the hospital or be sued and held accountable if anything happens at your work. They should have respect for a hospital. I can only do so much. The rest is up to you. You will need to be strong as you might have haters at your workplace." Jason says. He is busy on his laptop and does not look up as he speaks.
"Well, thank you, and I am not childish. But, I want this gossip about us to go away." Jayda says.
"It won't." Jason says. He is busy concentrating on a problem he has to solve on one of his games and is working in his car.
Jayda looks at Jason and shakes her head. Does this man work twenty-four-seven? He hardly looked up from his laptop since they got into the car.
"You always work and spend no time with me." Jayda teases Jason, imitating Victoria, and he looks up at her in surprise. Jason laughs as he sees Jayda pulling a face like Victoria when she does not get her way.
"I spent the whole afternoon with you yesterday." Jason teases her.
They are friends again like in old times, but this time it is different. Jason knows he loves the woman sitting next to him, and he needs to keep her close to him so he can win her heart again. However, he does not know if she still loves him as she only said Jayda missed him when she was drunk.
They laugh, and the atmosphere in the car is lighter. Their hearts long for each other, but they are too afraid to make a move as they do not want to ruin their friendship again. Finally, they reach the hospital, and to Jayda's relief, there are no media, paparazzi, or social media influencers.
"I will pick you up at five, do not leave without me, darling, as I will miss you so much." Jason teases.
"Okay, honeybuns, I will wait for you." Jayda laughs.
Jason glares at her for calling him honeybuns, but he says nothing as he walks her into the hospital. He gives her a quick kiss before leaving.
The nurses were all curious about the new beautiful doctor who came to work with them, and some were jealous when they saw Jason Morgan kissing her.
"Some woman has no heart, poor Victoria. She gave her youth to Jason Morgan, and a young woman comes and steals him away." One of the older nurses says. She is bitter as she still does not have a husband, and she always blames the younger nurses and other women for it. Stella Miller is almost thirty, and she has already taken sides with Victoria Ward, who is about the same age as her.
"Oh, shut up, Stella. Dr Hudson is much more beautiful than that old cow, Victoria! She is not even a good actress, and Jason already told her almost ten years back he would not marry her. It is her fault for chasing after a man she knows did not want her." Ruby Carter says. She is not one to take nonsense from Stella as the other nurses do. Stella is a mean head nurse who makes the young nurses' lives hell. Ruby is also a head nurse, although younger than Stella. Everyone loves working with Ruby more than with Stella, and they secretly call Stella the wicked witch.
Ruby and the nurses pretend to be busy when Jayda walks past them and goes straight to the CEO's office. He told her to come and meet him before she started working as they would first show her around.
Jayda wanted to stop and chat with them first, but looking at how busy she was, she did not want to disturb them. So she just smiled at them as she walked past them. Ruby smiled back, but Stella just gave her a look and continued with her work.
The first day is hectic as the CEO, and some administrators show Jayda around and introduce her to the other doctor. The doctors are all professional, and they admire Jayda's work. Some even ask her for advice on some of their patients and listen when Jayda talks and looks at the patients' files. As she did a lot of cancer research, she can help by looking at the files in most cases. However, for some of the patients, Jayda will have to see the patient before she can give advice. The doctors understand it, and they admire her for seeing things in the files that they overlooked.
During tea time, Jayda and some doctors and the CEO go to the cafeteria. Stella looks at Jayda, who is treated like a queen. Not many new doctors get the same treatment as her, and Stella is jealous.
"It is only because she is beautiful, young and Jason Morgan's girlfriend that she gets all the attention. Even the CEO is showing her around. Like she is the queen or something." Stella says.
"Stella, do you know how much Dr Jayda Hudson achieved in her life?" Ruby asks.
"Can not be much as she is still so young." Stella says catty.
"Any hospital in the state will do anything to have her. She has her MD(Res) in cancer research, and she is a world-renowned surgeon. So if you do not know anything about a person, do not judge them." Ruby says.
She has great respect for Jayda Hudson. Jayda comes from a wealthy family, and she never shows a patient away. If a patient can not afford an operation, she will pay for it. She will also offer her services for free. Everyone in the medical world knows about it and what a good person Jayda is.
"Oh wow, so we have a lot of MDs here." Stella says. Ruby decides to keep her mouth shut as she knows Stella.
"You are just a mean person. I do not know why you became a nurse in the first place." Ellie, another head nurse, says to Stella.
"Yeah, do you know she does operations for free if people can not afford it and then pay their hospital bills?" Another head nurse says. They all like Jayda as they hear about her reputation.
Stella glares at them but says nothing. The rest is teaming up against her, but she has her friends that stand with her.
"So what? Many other doctors do it as well." Sadie says. She is Stella's friend, and she does not like Ruby and the rest.
"That is right. We will see how long Dr Hudson last. She is a rich Hudson child, and when she gets married, she will be a stay at home mother." Elena, another of Stella's group, says.
"You are all just jealous because you wish to be like her." Ruby says. She hates sitting here with the head nurses as Stella and her little group of bitter friends are a pain in the ass.
After tea, Jayda goes with the doctors to see the patients she will be taking care of. Stella has to walk with them. She looks at Jayda as if she is something out of a horror movie as the young doctor tries to flirt with Jayda. Jayda stays cold and professional, though.
As they get to the second last patient's room, Jayda readjusts the patient's bed, and Stella walks forward to put it back to how it was. Jayda is angry as a nurse thinks she knows better than a doctor.
"Why did you do that, Nurse? I am the doctor here, and the patient is not comfortable. You do not try and test me. I have more authority than you, and you do as I say. Now put the bed the way I had it." Jayda says.
"But the patient was fine as he was." Stella says.
"Actually, I liked the bed more, as the doctor put it. It relieves the pain in my back." The older woman says. Stella glares at the patient and ignores Jayda's instructions.
"If you do not do as I say, I expect your resignation letter on my desk tomorrow morning." Jayda says.
Stella goes pale as she thinks she can manipulate the young doctor as she does with many young female doctors and nurses. She adjusts the bed as Jayda had it and walks out with an angry face.
"If that nurse gives you any problems, you let me know." Jayda says and smiles at the older woman.
"I will, dear. But unfortunately, she is not very friendly with the patients and the other young nurses." The older woman says.
"Don't worry, I will sort it out fast." Jayda says as she walks out of the office to the nurses' station. Ruby can see Stella is upset when she walks into nurses' stations.
"Who does she think she is to humiliate me in front of another doctor and a patient? I hate Dr Hudson, and I will make her life in this hospital a living hell." Stella says. She goes on about how Jayda Hudson is nothing but a homtella takes her frustrations out on the junior nurses by shouting at them.
Jayda standing at the door, waits until she goes quiet as she finally sees her friends trying to warn her. Jayda had everything on camera as she took out her phone and recorded everything Stella said and how she was shouting at the young nurses standing there.
"Well, you are not a good example for the younger nurses here, and you are abusing your power as a head nurse. A head nurse should be an example to the younger nurses, and you are not Nurse Miller. My personal life has nothing to do with the hospital, and you will respect me as a doctor. I do not expect all of you to like me, but we are supposed to work together as a team to save lives, and I can not work with an unprofessional nurse like you, Nurse Miller. Now, we have two options here, whether you start to respect the other nurses and be a good example for them, or I will have to report your actions to the Administrators and the CEO. The choice is yours. This is your last warning, and if you try to make my life hell in this hospital, you will regret it." Jayda says as she walks out of the nurses' stations.
"Serves you right." Ruby laughs as soon as Jayda leaves.
Stella is pale. She can not lose her job, and she will have to learn to control her temper. She underestimated Jayda Hudson and thought she was just another rich kid she could tremble on. Even Stella's friends can not help to feel a little satisfied that Jayda put Stella in her place, as Stella is even nasty to them sometimes.
