Chapter 3

"Do you wanna come with me to New York?" I asked.

"Are you asking me about New York?" David said with a disbelief expression.

"Yes or no"

"Why do you wanna go? What's the occasion?" he asked understanding my seriousness.

"Jane is getting married and I need to be there" I said.

"What about Andrea?" he asked.

"You know I can't take her with me. She has Emily and your mom and dad" I wanna keep her far away from that city.

"I'll come on the wedding. Someone needs to stay behind to look after the company. You should go and enjoy with your friends" David said with his ever charming smile.

"Then I guess I'll go with Chris" I said and he gave me a small nod.

I stood up and got back to my office.

I called Chris and informed him about my plan. He said He'll book the tickets for next week and I was pretty much fine with that.

As the day came to an end, I packed my stuffs and walked towards the elevator waiting for David.

He soon joined me. The whole atmosphere was silent just the way I like. We drove back home and soon was greeted by Andrea and Emily.

Andrea jumped on to David and Emily gave a bone crashing hug to me.

"I'm so hungry, let's have dinner first" she said. I gave a small nod and we all walked towards the dinning table.

I saw both aunty and uncle sitting and so we took our place as well.

"How was work?" Mr MacBoon asked no one in particular while the helpers were serving.

"It was fine. We sealed the deal with John's Group and I guess it will give us a head start" David replied while I stayed quite.

I felt Mrs MacBoon's hand on my lap.

"Keep your office work in your office. We are eating now" she said.

"Grandma can we have a doll house for Betty as well" Andrea asked. She knows how to get her work done.

Uncle and Aunt have been a big support in my life. When left everything in New York, they were there for me. They gave me job and helped me with my new identity. They helped me change everything from Naomi Johnson to Mimi Macboon.

They treat me and Emily as their daughter.

We both came here when Dad kicked me out of his home. Emily stood up for me so she wasn't welcome either. Now it's been 4 years I didn't see him. I still see my mom from far but my dad was still pissed. He had a lot of expectations from me and I disappointed him but what happened can't be turned back so I have learnt to live my life with the people who accepted me the way I was.

"Why would Betty need another house?" Emily interrupted my chain of thoughts.

"Betty needs her own house now. She is getting married to Jack. She can't stay with her family anymore" Andrea justified. We all laughed at her talk. She was just like Emily. Always in her fantasy world.

"Oh dear. Where did you learnt that from?" Mrs MacBoon asked laughing at her words.

"Daniel told me she needs to get married to Jack. They love each other" she said.

"Who is this Daniel guy? Isn't he the one who teased you at school" David asked.

"Daniel is a good boy papa David. We will get married as well" she said and none of us could hold our laughter anymore.

We all started laughing. She was really a shy and innocent girl. She never hesitated to let it all out in front of us.

"Hey!! My princess isn't getting married to any guy. You need to stay with papa David" David was always a possessive dad. He didn't like any guy near Andrea even when Andrea is just 4.

"But I want a doll house for Betty" she said stuffing a piece of meat in her mouth.

"Anything for my princess" David said.

See I told you, She knows her way out.

We completed our dinner and went back to our rooms. I called Jane and told her about my Arrival. She asked me to help her for the preparation and so I gave in. I called back Chris and asked him to prepone my flight. He booked the tickets for the upcoming Friday.

knock-knock-knock

"Come in"

"Hey Mi. Are you busy?"

"Not really. Come on in" I said. Emily walked towards me and took a seat.

"What happen? Is everything okay?" I asked.

"It's about Andrea"

"Yeah tell me"

"I think you should tell her" she said. It was like a routine now.

"We have talked about it. My answer is still no. I'll tell her when the time comes"

"She is going to be 5 now. How long you gonna hide?" she said.

"She is still not safe. I'll tell her soon. You know I can't loose her because of her identity"

"You know we all are there for you right?" she said and I simply nodded.

She stood up and walked out quietly. I slipped inside the covers and closed my eyes.

"I played you. I get what I want. Look at you, how pathetic you look" a sound screamed at me.

I couldn't see anything, it was pitch black.

"Mommy" I heard Andrea's voice.

"Andrea?! Is that you? where are you baby?" I asked looking everywhere but was welcomed by only darkness.

"What do we have here. Did you just hide her from me?" the same voice said again and suddenly light was on.

It was a white room with nothing just a door. I ran towards the door and tried unlocking it but nothing worked.

"Mommy!! Papa David!!" I heard Andrea screamed from the other side.

"Andrea don't worry. I'm coming" I said and stared pushing the door. The door didn't bulge and all I could do was try and cry.

I'm getting impatient. I can hear Andrea scream for help but I was locked.

"Calm the f**k down babygirl. You will get her but before that you need to do as I say" the voice said and I knew who's it belonged to.

"What the f**k do you want from me now?! You have already taken everything from me. My friends. My family. My dignity. Everything is gone"

"Oh my poor babygirl! You shouldn't have tried hiding my Daughter" he said

"She is not your daughter. f*****g stay away from her" I said and started kicking on the door.

The door suddenly opened and I ran towards Andrea. She was sitting on a chair and crying. I signed in relief and walked towards her but suddenly a man walked behind her and held a gun on her head. And I froze!

"It's all your fault and now I'm gonna make it right" he said and pulled the trigger.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

I woke up from that nightmare and ran towards Andrea's room. She was sleeping peacefully when I went in her room.

I sat on the floor and held her hands.

It's just a nightmare!

I cried. I cried until I couldn't. I stared back at her when I felt a presence behind me.

"Another nightmare?"

I nodded. David sat beside me and held my shoulders.

"Come here"

I moved closed to him without leaving Andrea's hand. I placed my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes.

"Remember one thing. Nothing will ever bother you Mimi. I'll always protect both of you. You know you are everything to me now" he said as he caressed my shoulder.

I nodded again.

"Come. You need to get some sleep" he said

"No. I wanna stay here for sometime"

"I'll carry Andrea to my room"

I stood up and David carried Andrea in his arms. She was so tiny compared to David's arms.

He placed her in the middle as we layed on the side. I scooted closer to her and hugged her while David hugged me with his giant arms.

We soon dozed off.

I woke up with a soft snoring. I opened my eyes to see Andrea still sleeping but David was missing.

I sat up and was about to leave when I saw David coming out of the bathroom in just a towel over his waist.

If this had happened 5 years back then I guess I would have been drooling over him but now I'm like a women of 60 in the body of 27.

"Good morning. Did you have a good sleep?" he asked as he walked towards his closet.

"Yeah. I'll just go and change. I'll meet you downstairs" I said and walked out.

I soon got ready and walked out of my room and saw everyone sitting on the table for breakfast.

We peacefully had out food with Andrea's cute little gossips about her dolls.

I walked out with David by my side. We hoped inside his car and drove towards his office.

"David I'll be leaving on the upcoming Friday" I said.

"Why so soon?" he asked a bit taken back.

"Jane needs me for helping her with the preparation"

"Okay but don't forget I'll be your plus one for the event" he said with a serious tone.

"Whatever"
