CHAPTER SEVEN

My father had taken precaution in educating me about the types of werewolves there were. I noticed amongst Rydian's friends, one was a western wolf. Two were from southern clans. And the rest were northern wolves. They all differed in shapes, size colour and fur. That how one could tell. He layed it out on me easy , how Rydian had made a mistake by requesting me to come meet him. And one by one they all morphed into their wolf form they all left me as I watched them disappear on the horizon. Even my so called mate's best friend Caleb. He was disappointed by Rydian's behaviour so much as he had said he himself was when he gazed at my photo. He told me Rydian was angry, angry with me, angry with himself but mostly embarrassed that he ever considered someone like me and actually wanted me to be his girlfriend. He did not want anything to do with me. "You're not the kind of mate my friend was hoping to meet." He said. "The moment he layed eyes on a photo of yours we showed him, he didn't seem interested in meeting you and wanted me to break it down to you easy." He said as he held my hand. His words rung in my ears over and over again. I stood there gazing at the trail they had left. His posse/gang of wolves had left deep large paw prints in the mud, the force of their weight causing the mud to splash onto nearest trees and bushes. They were taking large strides deep into the woods of Falconrock leaving me standing there, hurt and unable to comprehend the pain of sheer rejection. I was deeply hurt. But I knew this was bound to happen. Hes popular and was a loner. What was i thinking. My looks had literally repealed him. I was short but slim. I was pale and and my mom always used to cut my hair too short and clumsy, so much that it looked ugly. I wore large old glasses and to make things worse, I had a bad acne that wouldn't go away. Rydian; i had known him since middle school, he was captain of the soccer team in high school. He always came to my aid when I was bullied by the popular girls in school. One of them I hated the most was Daphne. She always picked on me and made my high school life miserable. I was happy my high school life was over. I made a vow to love no man ever and I hoped since there were many of us in school who were wolf, i had no reason to be afraid of Dumuzi's threats. I stepped back and morphed into my wolf form. It happened naturally this time, i did not sense danger or have anything to fear. I ran as fast as i could, i did not know were I was going but my heart was telling me to just go. My heart was thrashing wildly until i came to a stop near a stream and i was startled by my own reflection. My eyes glowed a deep yellow. My fur was snow white. Something uncommon. No one had ever seen a white werewolf in our lands. What perplexed me the most was my fur under the neck and sides which was longer than other wolves' mane. My dad and sister had seen me when I morphed. No wonder they were happy on that day when they found me and taken me home. I decided to go home and snuck through the backyard where I was welcomed by my second eldest brother Japhet. "Anathi!" He recognized me. I changed into my human form. What did dad say about changing during day light in public?" He continued." You're in trouble girl!" As I entered the living room i was met by the wrath of an angry father as a slap followed by a punch landed on me from his massive hands and fists. I could feel warm blood drippling from my nose. "What has she done this time?" My sister came in to the living room after hearing the commotion. My other brothers came as well. "What have I done?" I pleaded with him in emmernse pain. I was feeling a little dizzy from the punch. "What have you done? You have the nerve to ask me that question? Dad was raging and my nineteen year old brother Samuel was smirking as he loved to see me in pain hurt and reprimanded. I knew there was such a thing as sibling rivalry but I did not know why my own brother hated me so much. He would have love it even if I died. While my brother Japhet felt sorry for me. He shook his head with his eyes closed while our father continued to rage over me. My middle brother Harlem was the quiet one. He just stood there unmoved. It was hard to read into his thoughts through his actions. "I went to meet your uncle to day and as he is a member of the council you know what he told me? He told me that your cousin Marcy told him that a rumour about you being a were wolf is circulating and spreading like wildfire! " He paused. His tone was serious. " She told him that someone at school had seen you change. She said you've been sleeping around with them boys in your class, is that true?" He asked enraged. "Dad!" My sister said in a wounded tone. She felt sorry for me. "Dad what?" He said sarcastically. " just shut up , I've been too lineint on you girls ever since your mother passed." He turned to me and continued. Is that how I raised you, to be a wh***!" Your mother would be so disappointed if she were here. Is this why I send you to school, to sleep around and expose our secrets instead of learning and concentrating on your studies? " He grabbed my backpack and began ransacking through it, delivering my textbooks pens, papers and books on the floor. " Were are those love letters I'm hearing about that you've been writing to boys? Do you have illegal substances too, cigarettes? " I was hurt that my father 'would think so lowly of me. That's when it fell out of my back pack I had been keeping it for two days now ever since it had been delivered and I was afraid to open it because I was fraid of what it would say. It sat there on the floor clothed in a golden envelop drawing everybody's attention. "Whats this? My father picked it up. It was a reply to my application to the university of Atlantis. He peeled the golden envelope open to reveal a letter written in papyrus. The most ancient and most expensive paper of all. On it was a symbol of the pentagon with an eagle at the side. The badge of the school. My dad's hands shook as he opened it and read the fine print aloud. "Dear Miss Anathi Kimuta; I am pleased to inform you that your application to study at the National University of Atlantis has been accepted. I'm glad to inform you that we found your application and your academics pleasing that we have decided to offer you 100% full scholarship for the program you wish to study over the course of four years!" "What!" He paused and suddenly his rage turned to utter happiness. He grabbed me by my arm off the floor and embraced me so hard that I thought he was going to break my bones. He kept on planting kisses on my cheeks. "I'm so happy my little girl, well done!" he said as he patted my head. "Daddy is proud of you!" He continued. My sister chuckled in disbelief and embraced Japhet who was over the moon. I went to my room and left them talking and dancing around the living room in happiness. My sister followed me and since I could not hide anything form her, i relayed to her the day' s events.
