Thunder's Sudden Demand

2104 Words
Killian’s P.O.V. “I hate this pack to the core. They have already rotten to the core yet their alpha was as proud as a peacock during the rainy season,” Thunder rumbled in a tone filled with disgust. I scoffed but agreed with him. The Blood River Pack was filled with so many natural resources, with abundant manpower. It should have flourished by now, but they were still far behind even from an average developed human town. “Albert said that Ariel has no intention of taking over the pack, but she is far-sighted,” Noah said while reading something in his phone. I raised my brows at my best friend and my beta who was continuously praising this human girl. He looked at me with raised brows when I didn’t respond to him. “Don’t you want what she wants to do?” he asked me, and I glared at him while tilting my head a little. “I said that she is far-sighted because she refused to hand over the alpha title to the beta of the pack. She was away from this place for more than 7 years yet she knows that no wolf in this pack is capable enough to take over the alpha position,” he explained on his own accord, but his words made me feel something stirring inside me. I don’t believe in supernatural powers like a wonder-woman or something like that, but this girl was intelligent enough to have my attention. To be honest, she was even the first woman who piqued so much interest in her, but not in a s****l way. I was impressed with her bravery and intelligence. “How long do we need to sit in this cramped place?” I asked him in an angry tone while shifting on my butt uncomfortably. I hated traveling in cars because of my height and body buildup. I was six and three in height and had a well-built body, thanks to all these years of training. “We are already here,” Noah answered me while looking out of the window. I also looked out, and sigh in relief. It was my third visit here. I wanted to go out of this pack as soon as possible the last two times, but this time, I had no intention yet. The car stopped in front of the pack house. Albert came forward and opened the door for me. “Thanks, Albert,” I thanked him in a calm tone after exiting the car. I first stretched my body and cracked my neck to get some ease in the pain that I was now feeling in my body. A young man, their present Beta, came forward and bowed in front of me in respect. “Good evening, Alpha Killian,” he greeted me but I didn’t pay any heed to him. Although he was a beta blood but he still lacked skills in some areas. He was a good leader but not good enough to lead the pack. “You mean to say that Ariel is wide enough not to hand over the pack to him, right?” Thunder asked in a teasing tone this time, and I now really wanted to know what was wrong with my wolf. I certainly don’t remember the last time he joked with me. Did he really joke with me in the past? Asher led the way to the living room. “Please have a seat, Alpha Killian, Beta Noah. I have already informed Luna Ruby, and Ms. Rivers,” Asher said in a polite tone. I was still standing in the middle of the living room. I slowly moved towards Asher while raising my brows in confusion. “Ms. Rivers?” I asked, and he nodded. “She uses her mother’s last name instead of her father’s last name,” he told me in a calm tone, and I just nodded in response. I didn’t have any intention to know about this family feud as it was not my place to know. I didn’t sit and stayed standing at the same place. I narrowed my eyes when I small photo frame caught my attention on the shelf at one corner of the living room. I slowly walked towards that frame, but stopped when I sweet smell of jasmine and lily hit my nostrils. “She smells good,” Thunder purred, making me slowly moved towards the source of the scent. I saw a beautiful woman standing at the last step of the staircase with Luna Ruby. She gasped aloud and went pale as if she had seen a ghost. Her emerald eyes widened to the extent that it seemed that they would pop out of the sockets at any time soon. She slowly walked toward me with the same expression. Tears were streaming like a waterfall, and I felt that she wasn’t breathing. “She is beautiful even with this expression,” Thunder whispered, but all my attention was on her face. My expression changed from cold one to the curious one when she stopped in front of me. The expression on her face was very similar to the expression we have when we see someone after a long time or we are not sure if we are seeing the same person or not. She slowly raised her hand towards me. I despised being touched by an unfamiliar woman, but I held my displeasure back this time. She was not even blinking. Her hand slowly touched my face, and I felt a warmth spread to every nerve in my body immediately. I have never experienced such feelings in my life with anyone else. It was refreshing and calming. She was not my mate, yet I leaned lightly into her touch. A faint sob escaped from her lips, and her eyelids flickered. I immediately wrapped my hand around her waist, and at the same time, she fainted in my embrace. “Ariel,” I heard someone yelling in panic, but I immediately held her tightly in my embrace. I didn’t know why, but I panicked too. Was I so scary? What was wrong with her? There was a small smile on her lips when she touched my face. She was not scared of me, but what exactly was going on here? I took her to the couch and put her body gently on the couch. “Ariel…. What’s wrong with you, baby? Ariel,” a middle-aged woman scooted near the couch and tried to wake Ariel up. “Haaa… she is just an attention seeker, and she got what she wanted,” I heard someone spitting nonsense that made me crane my neck towards that person in anger. I saw Alpha’s daughter standing near the staircase while looking at us with a gaze filled with anger and hatred. She cowered as soon as our gazes met, and I threw a disgusting gaze on her. She was about to reach her legal age, and yet she had no backbone. She was nothing but a Barbie. I looked back at Ariel who was still unconscious. I could say that she was exhausted and some how…… broken…. “I think she will be alright after some rest. Where is your room? I will take her there,” I said in a calm tone to Luna Ruby. She looked up at me with a tearful gaze. “Her room is at the third floor,” she told me in a choked tone, and I nodded. “Please move aside,” I requested her in a calm tone. She immediately stood up and moved a little away. “Are you really going to take her to her room?” Noah mind-linked me, but I didn’t respond to him. I scooped her tiny body in my embrace in bridal style and stood up. “This way,” Luna Ruby led the way and I followed her. I frowned when I felt that Ariel was as light as a feather. How on earth did she manage to beat her father then? With all my questions and doubts about her in my mind, I walked behind Luna Ruby and went straight to her room. My expression went cold when I saw her room. It only had an almirah, a study table with a chair, and a small size bed in the corner. There was nothing that could say that it was an alpha’s daughter’s room. I put her body on the bed, and Luna Ruby pulled the sheet over her body. At the same time, we heard a knock on the door, and I looked there over my shoulder. Asher entered the room with Noah and a woman. “Good evening, Luna… Good evening, Alpha Killian,” the woman said, greeting both of us respectfully while bowing lightly. “Grace…. Please check her. She …. She was fine, and suddenly fainted. I don’t see any visible injuries on her body but don’t know anything about any internal injuries,” Luna Ruby asked that woman in an anxious tone. It meant that the woman was a doctor. “Didn’t she go through a check-up after the duel?” Noah asked in confusion, and I saw Luna Ruby gulping hard. It was when I noticed some bruises on her face. Thunder growled at the back of my mind in displeasure. Alpha Albert surely deserved a good beating to death. Both I and Thunder loathed men who are abusive towards women. “Let me see,” Grace replied to Luna Ruby and she went towards Ariel. I put my hands inside my pants pockets, still feeling the warmth of her body in my arms. “I want her,” suddenly Thunder roared, startling me in the process. “What the hell are you talking about, Thunder? Have you lost your mind?” I scolded him while fuming in anger. Wolves are meant to spend their lives with their fated mates, not with anyone else. “I said, I want her. I don’t know what you will do to make her mine, but I want her to be with me for the rest of my life,” he declared of his crush on Ariel, and I just stared at him in disbelief. “Wolves never have crushes. They only have mates in a romantic way. What exactly was happening here with Thunder? How can he demand such a thing? “Do you really think that she will like to be my mistress, huh?” I asked him further, and he scoffed this time. “Ask her hand in marriage. I don’t know if I have a mate for this lifetime or not, but I know one thing, I am happy to accept her as my chosen mate,” he declared in a confident tone, startling me to the maximum. I came out of my trance when I heard someone talking around me. I looked at the women standing in front of me. “She is perfectly fine, Luna. She has no internal injuries. She might faint due to exhaustion and tiredness,” Grace said to Luna Ruby, and I scoffed. I didn’t see an ounce of exhaustion on her beautiful face when I saw her for the first time standing on the staircase. “But she was startled to see us,” Thunder chimed in again, and I furrowed my brows. She was startled to see me, but not frightened. “Find out everything about her. I want every detail about her life in the human world, including her love life,” I instructed Noah through the mind–link and I looked back at Luna Ruby. She was looking at me nervously. “I beg your pardon, Alpha Killian, but I … I don’t think that Ariel is in a state to … to… have a formal meeting with you tonight,” she apologized in a sincere tone. I didn’t want to make things difficult for her. “It’s okay… her health matters first,” I answered her in an aloof tone, and then I looked at Noah. He nodded and stepped aside from the door where he was standing with Asher. “Inform me when she wakes up. I will have a chat with her at that time,” I instructed Luna Ruby while walking towards the door. “Sure, Alpha Killian,” I heard Luna Ruby answering me in a low tone, but I didn’t stop for any other pleasantries. “Let’s visit Alpha Albert,” I said to Noah in a cold tone while descending the stairs.
