His Intentions

2042 Words
Ariel’s P.O.V. “He is waiting for you in the office,” Ruby informed me and I sighed while rubbing my forehead. I was still having a hard time accepting that he was not Vincent but Alpha Killian, and now I had to face him. “Why does he want to talk with me? You are still Luna of this pack, and you can have a political chat discussion with him better than me,” I said and craned my neck towards her when I didn’t get any response from her. “The things are not as simple as they seem on the surface, Ariel. I… I don’t know…. Call a woman's instinct…. But he was protective towards you the last night…. I am having a bad feeling about the situation, Ariel,” she said in an anxious tone when my gaze fell on her. I slowly straightened my neck while processing what she really wanted to tell me. “You don’t understand, do you?” she asked me when I kept on staring at him for a good few minutes. “I really don’t understand,” I admitted without any hesitation. She sighed aloud and took my hand from the bed. “Alpha Killian always keeps his distance from women. He hasn’t found his mate yet. He has a few mistresses, but other than them, he has never allowed any other woman to touch him. Yet he didn’t let anyone touch you when you fainted. His presence has already scared the alpha of the Night Howl Pack and he refused to help us. Now Killian only wants to talk with you,” she explained, and I felt my headache intensify. I closed my eyes and felt a light squeeze on my fingers. “You are our only hope, Ariel,” she said in a shaky tone this time. I smiled bitterly and slowly opened my eyes. I saw tears and worry in her eyes. I was their only hope when they did nothing but toss me out when I was in dire need of them. However this was not the case with Ruby, but my resentment towards the whole pack was still there. “Let’s get over this as soon as possible,” I said, finally deciding to face him. “Are you sure?” she asked me in an anxious tone again, and I smiled bitterly. Although she knew that I was in a relationship with Vincent, she never met Vincent. Due to the nature of our work, we rarely made public appearances together. So she didn’t know that both Killian and Vincent looked alike. I slowly got up from the bed, and she got off with me. We both headed towards the door in silence. I was still mustering the courage to see that familiar yet strange face once again. I remember how cold her eyes were. How could it even be possible that he also had the same set of eyes? I clenched and unclenched my fists on either side of my body so many times while descending the stairs. The alpha’s office was at the ground floor, and with every step that I took towards the office, my heart thumped so hard against my ribcage that it started hurting my chest at one point. "I will wait for you in the living room," Ruby said to me while stopping near the living room. "Aren't you coming with me?" I asked her in confusion, and she shook her head negatively. "I can't. He said that he wants to talk to you alone," she answered me, and my face went dark immediately. What exactly did he want to do? "Okay," I answered her, and then I headed towards the office alone. “You can do it, girl. He is not Vincent. You can face him,” I gave a pep talk to myself in my mind. I stopped at the door and took a deep breath while closing my eyes. I comforted myself one more time before opening my eyes. I slowly raised my hand and opened the door. “Alpha Killian,” I greeted him with a light bow when our gazes met. To my surprise, my voice was calmer than I anticipated. “How are you feeling now?” he asked me in a cold tone, which made me raise my brows. What a weird way to ask someone about their well-being. “Feeling fine… thanks for your help, though. Ruby told me what you did for me,” I answered him while walking towards the table where he was standing beside the head chair. Although this chair belonged to me now, I didn’t have any intention of taking over. “Have a seat, Ms Rosewood,” he gestured to me, and I frowned. “I think you are misinformed about my name, Alpha Killian,” I replied to him while taking a chair. I was still shaking and it would be better for me if I sat down instead of standing. The corner of his lips crooked, making me recall that loving smile on Vincent’s face that always made me fall for him. I jerked my head and looked at the cold person in front of me. “I didn’t mean to pry into your family matters, Ms. Rivers…. But I really admire your courage of leaving everything behind you just like that,” he replied to me with that cold smirk on his lips, but I couldn’t get if he was praising me or mocking me. “Ruby told me that you want to talk with me?” I got to the point while crossing my legs on my knees. He nodded and then sat down on the other chair beside me at a distance. I gulped hard when I felt the intensity of his gaze on me, but I didn’t lower my eyes. Call me stubborn, but I'm testing my own limits right now. I was trying to find Vincent in him when I clearly knew that he was not my love. He was not my Vincent. “What are your plans for the leadership of this pack?” he asked me in a calm tone, and I took a deep breath. “To be honest, Alpha Killian, I didn’t defeat my father for the alpha position. I only wanted to take Ruby away with me, but he refused. Hence, I had no option but to fight him,” I told him the circumstances under which I defeated my father. Killian nodded and cleared his throat after that. “Still…. the question remains at its place. You know that you can’t leave a pack without an alpha,” he said further, and I nodded. I had already done my research on him, and one thing that I knew was that he was the best option for this pack. “I heard that you are interested in this pack, aren’t you?” I asked him in a calm tone, and he smirked this time. “You are well-informed, Ms. Rivers,” he replied to me and a faint smile appeared on my lips. “However, I am interested in one more thing,” he continued, and I c****d my brow questioningly. “I want you,” he continued, and my eyes widened in horror and shock. “Wh… what did you say?” I exclaimed aloud while straightening my back while looking at him with wide-opened eyes in shock. “You heard me, Ms. Rivers,” he said nonchalantly, and I felt that someone had knocked all the air out of my lungs. I was now breathing heavily in anger and disbelief. He might have Vincent’s face, but he was far from the person Vincent was. Killian was nothing but a jerk and a scumbag, and all the admiration that I had for him till now, vanished into thin air. His gaze was still cold but I felt as if he was mocking me. “What made you think that you can humiliate me just like this, and I will tolerate it, huh?” I asked him while gritting my teeth after I regained my composure. I tilted my head while glaring hard at him. All I wanted right now was to strangle him to death. Suddenly, his face became the most disgusting face for me. Why?????? Why did he have to have Vincent’s face? Why did he have to destroy all my good memories with Vincent? He raised his brows while tilting his head a little. “How am I humiliating you here, Ms. Rivers?” he asked me in a curious tone, and I scoffed. “I am human, but I belong to this world, Alpha Killian. You haven’t found your mate yet and this only information is enough to clear your intention towards me. Sorry, but not sorry to say that I have no interest in being your mistress,” I replied to his question with a tone filled with disgust. I felt suffocated in his presence now. “Mind your words, woman. You don’t know me well,” he threatened me and I shot up on my feet immediately while fuming in anger. “I do know with whom I am talking right now, Mr. Knight. You are known for your reputation as the most arrogant and ruthless alpha, but for me, you are nothing but a jerk who thinks so highly of himself that he looks down at everyone around him,” I roared aloud, clearly showing my hatred towards him. He shot up on his feet too, while glaring at me, and took a step forward towards me. I craned my neck to look up at him as he was almost a foot taller than me. “If you are so well-informed about me then you also must know that I can kill you even before you blink,” he threatened me, and I laughed in anger this time. “Yeah… you can do that…. I may not be able to fight against you, but don’t take me as a coward, Mr. Knight. I will choose to die rather than be your mistress,” I spat once again, and he suddenly raised his punch towards me. However, it didn’t scare me, but it fueled my anger more. I locked my gaze on him, challenging him to punch me. He stopped his punch right in front of my nose, but I didn’t even blink. I knew his kind of creatures very well. They fed on the fear of their prey, but I was not his prey. He was still growling lowly in anger but resisted hard. “You do know how to push all the buttons, Ms. Rivers,” he said in a sarcastic tone while lowering his fist. “How can I, Mr. Knight? What am I? Just a fragile doll in front of an almighty alpha like you,” I retorted in the same tone. “Don’t push your luck, woman,” he threatened me again, and I balled up my fists tightly, screaming in a muffled tone, trying to suppress my anger. “I don’t think that we have anything to talk about more, Mr. Knight. I don’t give a damn about this pack or you…. Or to this world. If you want to take over this pack…. Be my guest…. I am getting out of here,” I declared and I started walking towards the door. I had enough of this conversation. All I wanted right now was to go away from here. I gasped in shock when suddenly he gripped my arm, flipped me, and pinned me to the wall while crushing me with his weight. The only good thing was that he cushioned the back of my head with his palm, or else I might have sustained a head injury due to the force he used on me during the process. He was holding me above the ground while pinning my hands on the wall over my head. Our faces were now so close to each other that I could feel the heat of his breath fanning my whole face. “Killian Knight….. You are going too far,” I roared angrily once again.
