Chapter 6:

2388 Words

Chapter 6: The observers in the cave had little choice. They needed to widen the entrance to the sheikh’s throne room. Men armed with rifles and bayonets forced their way into the space. Helena wasn’t sure what to call it, but from what she witnessed, the man that sat in the chair fashioned himself as some sort of ruler. To Helena he was just another man, using excuses to do what he wanted to do rather than what was right and just. At the door stood yet another man, his uniform pressed and cleaned even after the ride in over the mostly dirt road. She took an instant disliking to the officer in charge. Something about his manner reminded her of her stepfather/uncle, the General, may his soul rot in hell. The team of heavily armed men behind the man didn’t give her a warm feeling either.
