The sound of heels clicking on the stairs was heard and Mia turned to her back to have a glimpse. Her eyes widened in disbelief at the strange figure descending from the stairs. Vanessa's brown hair swung and her sexy blue eyes radiating beauty as she made her way down the stairs. Her heavy makeup added more charm to her exquisite features. “Hi, babe,” Vanessa said, closing the gap between them. She stood side by step with Brian and shot him a seductive look. “What's going on? Who is this woman?” Mia asked and glanced at Vanessa. Brian scoffed as his gaze landed on Vanessa, “Vanessa is my first love, Mia.” He looked deeply into Vanessa's eyes and traced his fingers on her hair. “B-But,” she stammered and turned to the woman beside Brian. Mia felt a pang of jealousy run through her body. Brian had never looked at her that way since they got married. She had done everything a wife had to do, but still, he always gave her a cold shoulder. “I choose love and I know you're not that heartless to deny me that.” Mia could feel her heart pounding against her chest. This was not the way she planned her anniversary. She could see Vanessa enjoying the show and cuddling her husband right in front of her. “Let go of him you slut,” Mia snapped. “You shameless slut.” “Mmm,” Vanessa scoffed. “Shameless, you say?” She narrowed her brows and moved closer to Mia with a cold expression on her face. “You're the one shameless here, you bewitched Grandpa Wade and made him marry you to his son. You knew Brian never loved you yet, you chose to torment him with that miserable face of yours.” Mia gulped down her saliva and took a step back. “I only loved him,” Mia snapped. “Love, huh?” Vanessa scoffed, “Did you ever ask yourself where he was all those nights he didn't come home.” “By the way, I'm carrying his baby,” Vanessa whispered in her ears. Mia gritted her teeth in anger and tears welled up in her eyes. She stomped her feet against the ground and tears fell from her eyes. “Sign the papers, Mia, “he snapped. “And I want you out of my house in two days.” “Brian,” she cried out, but he hissed and sidestepped her. Vanessa followed from behind, she turned to Mia with a smirk on her face and took her hand. Mia gazed at her in a confused state with her eyes wide open, she gulped down her saliva. Vanessa placed Mia’s hand on her chest and pushed herself to the ground. Mia’s eyes widened in disbelief at the sight of the woman’s mischief. Vanessa fell to the ground and screamed, holding her belly, “Brian.” Her voice echoed through the room. Brian turned his back to see Vanessa lying on the floor, her hands holding her belly. His eyes widened in shock, he paced the stairs and rushed to her side. “What have you done?” He shot Mia a cold glare. “I didn't do anything, I swear, I didn't push her,” Mia’s hands trembled at the sight of his rage. “If anything happens to her, consider yourself dead,” Brian snapped, his hands shaking, reaching for Vanessa. “Brian, please listen to me, I didn't push her. She is faking it, she fell on her own. Why can't you believe me?” Mia made an attempt, she rushed towards Brian and tried to grip his arm softly to plead her case and prove her innocence. “Aahh!” Vanessa groaned in pain. Brian shot daggers at Mia, he shoved her to the side, “You better pray nothing happens to her else,” he sneered. “Clinton…” Brian screamed in frustration. In a few seconds, the butler arrived in the living room as fast as he could. He knew how intolerant his boss was and couldn't bear to be scolded. It could cost him his monthly wages. “Sir,” Clinton bowed slightly. “Prepare the car, call the driver now.” “Yes, sir,” he bowed and paced to the intercom. In a few seconds, he was back. Brian lifted Vanessa off the ground and paced outside the mansion. Vanessa was faking the whole thing. Why can't he even see that? Mia bit her lips hard, her body trembled. She looked by the side and her gaze met with the present she got Brian. Mia slumped to the ground and wailed in distress. For two years, she poured her heart out to Brian and, in the end, she got a cruel betrayal. She curled up to the side and clutched the present, sobbing uncontrollably. ** The day went by so fast and the evening moon clouded the sky. The door flew open, revealing a group of three people, with one supported to move around. Mia jolted as it slammed against the wall. Brian’s steps echoed through the living room. Mia could feel her heart pounding against her chest, and she took a step back. “Why is that witch still in my house?” Mary, Brian’s mother, snapped at the sight of Mia. Brian had contacted his mother earlier. Mary had always fancied Vanessa for her son but when Grandpa Wade stood against their relationship and brought in Mia, she loathed Mia desperately. Her son is deserving of a noble woman and not a nobody picked from the streets. She was happy to hear that Vanessa was back in the picture, but hearing about the incident didn't go well with Mary. Mia turned her back towards the door, seeing the entire family walk in. When Mia’s eyes met with Vanessa’s, she rushed to her side with tears streaming down her cheeks. “Please, Vanessa tell him I didn't push you,” Mia knelt before her, holding onto the helm of her clothes. She couldn't bear to lose Brian. She was completely in love with a cruel man who cared less about her feelings. She was willing to do anything as long as she remained his wife, even if she had to accommodate his mistress. Before Mia could plead her case, someone gave her a resounding slap and pushed her to the ground. “You bloody liar,” Mary sneered, disgust clear in her voice. “Haven't you done enough? You tried to hurt my Grandchild,” she yelled. Mia held onto her aching cheek with tears streaming down her eyes. What did she ever do to deserve such ill-treatment? Why is her life so messed up? Why does it have to be the Wilson family who took her in? Mary helped Vanessa on the sofa and focused her attention on Mia. Mia could see Brian comforting his mistress. “Brian,” her faint voice echoed through the room. “How dare you call his name,” Mary sneered, shoving her to the side. Mia’s heart bled at the scene right in front of her. Brian was busy hugging another woman right in front of everybody, leaving her to be bullied by his mother. Brian stood up, walked to the bedroom with a scowl on his face, he paced the stairs and glared at Mia from a distance as he descended the stairs. “Sign the damn papers, now,” he yelled at the top of his voice. Mia’s gaze met with Vanessa, who appeared pale and weak on the sofa. A mischievous smirk danced around her lips, Mia was stunned by her actions. Did that woman just smirk at her? Mia clenched her first tightly and moved closer to Vanessa, shooking her hard. “Tell them the truth, you slut,” Mia snapped. Everyone in the room was taken aback by her actions. Vanessa groaned in pain, “You're hurting me,” her voice was faint, and she trembled in fear. “What? That b***h,” Mary snapped. Brian shoved her to the side. Mia fell to the ground and a sharp pain sliced through her belly. She screamed at the sight of her bleeding and held her belly tightly. “Aaahh!” Mia screamed. “Brian,” she reached for support. Mia groaned and crawled towards the sofa. She held it for support. Mary squinted her eyes at Mia and glanced at Brian with a confused expression on her face. When Vanessa saw this her eyes widened. Could she be pregnant? She wondered. If that's the case, she needs to act smart, she could see the worried expression on their faces. Vanessa faked a faint and panic surged through Brian. Brian lifted her from the sofa and paced outside the mansion with Mary following from behind. Mia could feel her vision blurry, she curled up to the side of the sofa, holding it for support, and slowly she lost consciousness. When the housekeepers approached the living room, they screamed at the sight of Mia’s bleeding and called for support. ** Brian sat beside Mia on the hospital bed. She opened her eyes and the first person she could see was her biggest regret. “The doctor said you had a miscarriage,” he said with a hardened expression on his face. “Don't worry, you'll have another baby, maybe with someone else. Vanessa will have my baby, not you,” his words made tears well up at the corners of her eyes as she laid on the bed motionless. “Make sure to sign the papers,” he said as he walked out of the room, leaving her all by herself. Every step he took echoed through the room and brought sadness to her aching heart. She had lost the little human in her womb she didn't know was there to begin with. Her tears flowed freely as she held her belly. At that moment, regret flushed through her. She should never have loved. All she did was love, and it burnt her like wildfire.
