My Second Chance Chapter 4

Anna

It’s been six months since I left Jonathan, my family, mate and pack and I feel great, refreshed. I found someone to help me change my name. He was good, I got a new ID with my new picture. I dyed my hair red and I love it. I got a new social security number and everything. I got my GED because I didn’t like school, I didn’t want to have a repeat of what happened at my old school. My brother came to visit me two times, no one knew where he was going.

Last week was my birthday, I turned 17. He surprised me with a cake and a charm bracelet, I loved it. Mrs. Hopkins owns a small vet hospital. She gave me a job at the front desk and let me stay above her husband’s restaurant. It's small but cozy and I love it. I haven’t shifted in months my wolf was nagging me. I didn't want to shift because I didn't want to get caught. I knew there were wolves in the area but I never saw a pack.

After work I went deep into the woods, got undressed and shifted. I ran for hours. I sat at the lake looking at the water it reminded me of my clearing back home. I fell asleep and woke up to growling, crap. I got up and was surrounded by five wolves, they were growling and scaring the daylights out of me.

I laid down showing them that I meant no harm, two went and shifted then the other three. Two tall men came a few seconds later they were hhooott. One was around 6'2 he had blonde hair and green eyes but didn’t compare to the one beside him. He was freaking huge! Around 6'5 or 6’6 he had chocolate brown eyes, dark hair and a mouthwatering body but had a permanent scowl on his face. The scary one, who I’m assuming is the Alpha, told me to shift. I looked around, I forgot where I left my clothes so I was too nervous to shift. I shook my head no.

“SHIFT NOW!” I jumped at his voice. It was smooth but deep and full of authority. I had no choice, god this is embarrassing. I went behind the tree and shifted, thank god I lost a little bit of weight from all the running around I did working at the vet. I peeked from behind the tree.

“I um I don’t have any clothes.” I said blushing. One of the boys handed me their shirt and I came from behind the tree.

“Why are you on our land?” The Alpha asked. I never looked at another boy besides my mate but this guy was extra hot.

“I’m sorry. I’m new around here I didn’t know anyone was around. I’m sorry please don’t kill me, I’ll leave just don’t hurt me.” They all looked around, I think they were having a conversation.

“Follow us.” He said before turning around.

“Where are we going?” I asked.

“Don’t ask questions just follow us.” I nodded and followed. There was a blond one looked about a year or two older than me. He came and stood beside me.

“Hi I’m Lance.”

“Hi, I’m Anna.” s**t, I was supposed to have gave him my fake name. I was so nervous and scared it slipped out, way to go Anna.

“You two stop talking and keep up.” We arrived at a house, I’m guessing it was the pack house. I’ve never seen a house so big. This wasn’t a normal pack house, it was like a castle. I've never saw something so big and beautiful in my life. They had everything from a pool to a tennis court to a park.

“Wow.” I said.

“I know it's huge isn’t it.” Lance smiled.

“Take her to the cells, I'll deal with her later.” I started to panic.

“No I didn’t do anything, just please let me go home.” I said sobbing. He just stood there with a straight face.

“Lance take her now! You’re a rogue, you have to be treated like one.” I followed Lance to the basement and he put me in the cell.

“I’m sorry Anna, the Alpha doesn’t like rogues. It doesn’t matter that you’re a woman we have our reasons.”

“Will he ever let me go?”

“He might, but it’s unlikely.” He said with a sad smile.

“I’ll see you later. Do you need anything?” He asked.

“No I’m fine thank you. Lance!” I yelled before he left.

“Will you come visit me tomorrow?”

“Sure thing Sweetie Pie.” He said while winking. I laughed as he left, he’s a sweet person.

I laid on the mattress and started thinking. What if I would have stayed home, I wouldn’t be happy but at least I would have been with John. I’m so stupid, now look at me! In a basement, probably about to get killed. I cried myself to sleep worrying about the next day….

Ace

I knew Anna was my mate but that’s where I slipped up the last time, this time I won’t make the same mistake. She’s a rogue and she’ll be treated like one. I know you’re thinking he’s mean and cold, how could he treat his mate this way but you don’t know what happened the last time I thought I found my mate. That resulted in losing my parents and my little sister. I won’t risk the rest of my family or my pack because of a rogue mate.

Anna 2 months later

I’ve been in this stupid cell for two months. The Alpha, who I learned was Ace, hasn’t been down here once .I haven’t shifted or seen daylight since they took me. I miss my brother and I know that he is worried sick. At least I had Lance to keep me company.

“Hey Sweetie Pie.” Lance greeted while coming into the cell.

“Hi Lance.” I said while trying to smile. I was depressed down here,I didn’t do anything for god’s sake. Why the hell can't he just let me go! I burst out crying, I couldn’t take it anymore.

“Lance please get me out of here. I’m not a threat I swear I wouldn’t hurt a fly.” I cried.

“It's ok. Sshhh don’t cry. I’ll talk to my brother again, I’ll get you out.” I just hoped that he could, from what I heard his brother is pretty mean.

“Thanks Lance.” I kissed his cheek.

“I’ll go talk to him now.”

Lance

I couldn’t stand to see her cry, she reminds me of my little sister. I wish she was here I miss her so much. I miss her stealing my shirts to sleep in, I miss her pulling pranks on us annoying everyone.

“Hey man.” I said to Ace.

“What do you want Lance?” My brother has an anger problem so I thought that I would get straight to the point.

“I know your secret.” I sang while smiling, I love making him mad it’s funny.

“What the hell do you want and I have no secret, now tell me why you’re here or get out.” He growled.

“I know Anna’s your mate.” He looked at me like he wanted to attack me.

“She’s not my mate, I have no mate she died.” He said while glaring at me.

“That wasn’t your true mate but Anna is. I saw the way you looked at her. Shocked, then love, then anger, she doesn’t deserve to be treated that way because of your past. She can’t stay down there forever. She’s going crazy and I can’t stand to see her cry, she’s miserable.” His eyes widened.

“What do you mean she’s going crazy? Rogues know how these things work”

“That’s because she’s not a rogue. Just hear her out, please she’s a nice girl. You don’t know what she’s been through.” I said getting mad, when I find her mate I’m going to torture that i***t. How could he treat her like that. I growled and felt my wolf about to surface.

"CALM DOWN LANCE! Why are getting upset what happened to her?” He asked.

“That’s for her to say, now can you please let her out of that disgusting cell... please.” He sighed. I knew it was working.

“Fine, she can explain herself. If her story checks out I’ll let her go but she’s your responsibility.” I jumped up ready to get Anna.

“Thanks bro.”

When I reached the cell she was on the bed sobbing.

“Anna please don’t cry. Follow me, the Alpha wants to see you.” She ran and hugged me.

“Thanks Lance.”

Anna

I can’t believe he actually did it, I just hope the Alpha lets me go. We walked through the first steel door then up some stairs where lance put in a code. We then entered the basement then the kitchen, how big is this place?

“I can’t go in with you, he wants to talk to you alone. Go ahead, it’s the third door on the right. I’ll be in the kitchen making us lunch.”

“WHAT? You can’t leave me alone with him, he hates me. What if he attacks me?” I didn’t want to go alone, he’s freaking scary. Lance chuckled and said that I’ll be fine then left.

I stood outside the door his scent gave me butterflies, he smelt like the woods and something sweet. I took a deep breath I was really nervous what if he puts me back in the cell?

“I know you’re out there Rogue just come in.” s**t, I opened the door to a sexy Ace sitting at his desk, let’s get this over with.
