"You don't have to pay. All you have to do is also accept the man's situation. " Ynna was taken aback.
"Which man?"her friend asked.
"My boss. He needs a woman. If you agree with each other, then we can solve our problem. It's a win-win situation for the two of you." The man explained to her.
"Give out your business card to him." Her friend tapped her shoulder. She hesitated a little before pulling out her business card and handing it to the man.
"I'll call you when I've talked to my boss, "she nodded blankly.
She'd gone home and was preparing to sleep, but her mind was still processing the conversation she'd had with the man in front of the convenience store. She shook her head, dismissing what had happened earlier, as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
However, she did not expect to hear from him the next day, assuming that they were just weary and anxious.
"Sis, your cellphone has been ringing for a while."
Her brother picked up the phone and placed it in her ear. She was still holding the plate she was rinsing when she spoke.
"Hello, this is Ynna Reloso-"
"Hi, this is Enzo. If you still remember me, we met last night. I called you regarding the thing that we talked about." She literally dropped the plate she was holding into the sink.
"You are serious about what you said last night?" she asked incredulously.
"Yes, were you just kidding last night?"
She wiped her hand and took her cellphone from her brother. And she went to her room.
"I'm not joking, but are you really telling the truth?" she asked as soon as she closed the door.
"My secretary is telling the truth."
Another man's voice at the other end of the phone caught her attention, and it was distinctive.
"Are you still there?" he asked her monotonously.
"Yes, I'm listening."
"So, how about we meet each other and discuss it in person? " She couldn't help but press her lips together as the tone of his voice lingered in her ear, sounding vaguely familiar.
"That's fine." All she said seemed to be that.
"Good, then I'll see you. My secretary will send you the meeting place's address. "
She covered her mouth with her hand as she pulled her phone away from her ear. And she had no idea what she would do because she hadn't expected it. The conversation that took place last night was a simple one, yet the outcome was shocking. Especially, as she hasn't even considered writing a romance novel just yet.
She paced back and forth in her room, unsure of what she should do. Until she remembered to phone her friend.
"Aesha, what should I do?" she asked as soon as her friend answered her call.
"What exactly do you mean? Please elaborate. "
"The man we met last night called me and he meant it. I've already talked to his boss and he wants me to meet him to discuss this. "
"Really, that's good news." Her mood bounced off quickly.
"What's the good news there? I haven't even decided if I'm actually going to write a romance novel-"
"Ynna, this is already a sign for you to write one. The solution is in front of you, and you don't even have to pay, because all you have to do is accept his offer. " Her friend convinced her.
"But this doesn't make sense."
"Friend, if you don't make sense of everything, nothing will make sense. It's only up to you. " she rubbed her forehead and she finally made a decision.
She adjusted her eyes to the building in front of her. She'd read the address the secretary had sent her many times. It's because they'll be meeting on the building's fifth floor at a fancy restaurant. As a result, she is now much more distrustful.
She huffed and ruffled her hair before rushing to enter the building. When she looked around the lobby, she immediately recognized the secretary she had met the night before, who was also looking around. She waved her hand at him as he hurried towards her before she could get close enough to talk to him.
"Thank you for coming."
"Of course, I agreed with you when we chatted in the convenience shop," she responded. The secretary gave her a friendly smile and ushered her into the elevator.
"Enzo is your name, isn't it?" She spoke just so as not to be awkward inside the elevator.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out the business card she had handed him, "Yes, and your name is Ynna." She nodded.
"Don't worry, my boss has no ulterior motives. He just thinks in a different way, so even if it's a small issue, he makes a big deal out of it. His ego and pride are just so important to him." the secretary briefed her.
"But my boss is a decent man," he said after a while, assuring her.
They took turns exiting when the elevator opened. She followed the secretary as they walked into the restaurant. They just kept on walking down the hallway, but she became conscious of the staff smiling at her as she passed by.
"Go inside by yourself. I'll take a look at the food they'll be serving first."The secretary instructed her when they reached the private dining room.
When the secretary left, she let out a deep breath before entering. She closed the door before turning around, but she did not find anyone in front of the table-
"It's really you."
She tilted her head to the side and her eyes widened as she looked at the man leaning against the wall of the room. She quickly turned to the door.
"You went to the right room." She heard him speak of what she was about to assume. Now she knows why the voice she heard seemed familiar. It's because he was the man behind it.
For damn sake, it's her ex-fiance!
She was still facing the door when she noticed his movement outside of the corner of her eye. She was on the verge of touching the doorknob and leaving when she sensed him walking towards her. But she couldn't move her feet and felt like they were stuck in place. She isn't feeling anything, yet she is suffocated.
"Sit down and let's talk." He stopped at her side. She felt cold when she sensed his presence on her back.
