(Adelia’s POV) We are in the meeting room, everyone chattering around me. Though I am not listening to a single thing. I hear the noises; I see their mouths moving but nothing is registering in my mind. At this point, I am wondering what is taking my girls so long and if they are bringing the twins with them. I am sure the boys would refuse, thinking that I still hold a grudge about them running after their sister’s without telling me. I honestly do, but I wouldn’t say that knowing how much it has helped me be able to focus on knowing they were safe with their sisters. If I ever felt they weren’t safe, I could just link one of my loved ones I sent with them for an update. Ace leans towards me, his breath tickling my ear in need and want. I know he is speaking to me the way his breaths are spaced out. Though I am so lost in my mind that I didn’t comprehend one word. “What? I didn’t hear anything you said. I am sorry.” I watched the emotions playing out on his face. Hurt. I am sure it is from me not listening to him, but it is almost like I couldn’t, no matter how hard I tried. What is happening to me? Confusion. He doesn’t understand why I would choose to ignore him. What he doesn’t know is that I wasn’t choosing anything and I would never do that to him if I could have prevented it. He should know that, deep down. Worry. He feels something off with me. He is concerned that I may be unhealthy. Doesn’t he see how much I had to give to have five children instead of the normal? Gods and Goddess’ normally only have one child, rarely two. Though I had five, why is that? “Do you know where the girls could be? We waited for an hour in this room for them to show up. How much longer are they going to take? I knew you spoiled them too much, always thinking they can do whatever they please.” Ace asked in frustration, all other emotions long gone. Ace has always been my hot – headed, impatient vampire mate. No matter the age, that is the one thing that has never changed with him. “Has it really been an hour? I am not sure where they are, Ace.” I told him quietly before clearing my throat to get everyone's attention. “For some reason the girls have not shown up yet. Lawrence, would you be a dear and fetch them for us?” “Of course, Queen Adelia,” Lawrence exclaims as he stands elegantly out of his seat, striding towards the door. You would never have known this was the little boy I was so attached to for so long. The boy who always hid on my shoulder and came to me for any problem he had. The boy who was once glued to my hip. “I will go assist him.” Riya exclaimed, jumping out of her seat like it was on fire. Within seconds, she was attached to Lawrence. I know every little detail of these two and it is heartbreaking to know how devastated Riya will be when Lawrence finds his mate. I also know Lawrence would never accept anyone other than his mate, even if he never finds her. We tried to explain to Riya that one day she would meet her mate and so would Lawrence. She didn’t feel the need to listen, still believing that one day Lawrence would accept her the same way she saw him. Dara and Oli roll their eyes at their daughter’s behavior and I completely understand why. “Where do you think they are?” Oli asked in a nonchalant way. He doesn’t care where they are because he always seems to expect great things from them and tells everyone they are under estimating them. He has become a pro at protecting his thoughts, otherwise I would know why he feels this way. “Like you care. You always expect trouble from them, almost as if you know what they are up to before they do it. So, what are they up to, all holy one?” Dara mocked at her mate with a genuine smile on her face. Oli chuckles as he shakes his head in humor. “Stop worrying, I am sure they are just scuffing their feet, trying to prevent this conversation with us.” Alerious says in a calming way. Trying to reassure my racing mind. Nothing should happen to them in this colony though, so I don’t know why I am worried. “Those twins of yours have started a commotion I never thought possible. They always do though, don’t they?” My father, Darius, chuckles in amusement. I find myself joining them because I know how rambunctious those two can be. Lawrence runs in, with a worried look on his face, followed by Riya, who has a smirk and only eyes for Lawrence. What is going on with both of them? Forget it, I will deal with that later. I peak around them to see the girls but no one else enters the room. “The girls are gone; I can’t find them anywhere. I am sorry.” Gone? Where could they have gone? “Did you check for the twins?” Antonio asked, as he looked at Lawrence expectantly. Why was Riya smirking that my girls were gone? Could she have had something to do with this or was she just glad to have Lawrence to herself? No, Riya wouldn’t purposely hurt my girls. “I did check, my King. The boys haven’t been seen since the ball - type gathering and there was no trace of them in their room either.” Lawrence said quietly as he looked sad about what had occurred right under his nose, but he had no idea about it. “Darius and I will go try to pick up their scents.” My mother, Selene, the Moon Goddess said as she dragged my father out of the room behind her. The worry running through me is plaguing my mind and I feel as if my body has shut down. Not one but all of my children are missing. Did the creature threatening the kingdom get to them? Could they be hurt or, even worse, dead? “We will find them, my love?” Antonio whispers in my ear as he wraps his arms around me. “Everything is okay, little one. I am sure the girls snuck off with their brothers for an adventure like always. Just relax.” Alerious coos as he joins Antonio and comes to wrap me in his arms, my face falling onto his chest. Their scents successfully calmed me. “Why would you let them out of your sight?” Ace questions demandingly, between clenched teeth. He is trying to suppress his anger, but I can tell this is hard on him, misplacing our kids and not knowing where they have gone off to. (Lavender's POV) I honestly can’t believe mother brought that she - devil here. I cannot go around and look for my mate while trying to protect myself from that... that... ugh. I am kind, I respect everyone, I keep the peace. I don't think I can keep up my morals around her. She is the one person I can't deal with. I can't keep myself composed around her. What can I do? I abruptly stopped, as I looked around the hallway. We could leave, without her, without anyone. "What is it, Lavie? Why did you stop?" Lobelia asked, as she turned towards me. "Mother is going to flip if we don't hurry up," Lily says in annoyance. When will they get it? Mother sent us away to find our mates, though look at everyone she has tagged along with us. This has been to keep us out of the Kingdom. That has been to have others watching over us. Now she shows up and brings someone we hate with her, sticking her with us too. Where is that right? (Lily's POV) Lobelia and I stopped, staring at Lavender as we waited for her to speak. I can't stand this anymore. I tap into her mind, listening to all the thoughts floating around. She is right, but where is she going with this? 'We can leave, right now. Take off without telling anyone. Find our mates and stop the threat all in one. We all know how to disguise our scent and I am sure Lily could place a cloak spell on us to keep us hidden. We just have to leave; we could go now and return when everything is solved. We could prove that we can handle this without Mother babying us. Sending our grandmother, grandfather, protector, and now Riya after us. We are powerful.' Lavender’s thoughts swirl around. She's right. I tied Lobelia to Lavender's thoughts with me, so she heard every single thought. Lobelia was staring at her with so much attentiveness, I was honestly shocked. What happened when she felt she needed to express herself that way? Lobelia engulfed Lavender into a hug and I stared at them in bewilderment. Did this mean Lobelia agreed with her? Did she not agree and think that Lavender had finally snapped after thinking something like that? What exactly am I missing? 'Let's do it. I am fully in on this plan. Great job Lavie.' Lobelia mind linked us both, causing Lavender to smile in relief and I sighed, knowing we were all on the same plan. I would never let my sisters take off by themselves. I care about them, more than I will ever show. Time to leave this place. They both stared at me as if I needed to tell them I was in. I rolled my eyes and began to head to the exit. ‘This means you are going to come with us?’ Lobelia asked through the mind link. ‘Yes,’ I responded through the link, with another eye roll. ‘Of course, I am coming with you two. Would I ever let you leave without me?’ Lavender smiled as her eyes lit up in amusement. I realize I am still tapped into her mind and hear exactly what memory she was thinking of. She always had to bring up how I followed them like a lost puppy one time to protect them from any trouble but without wanting them to know I was doing it. Unfortunately, I forgot to cover my scent that one time and they knew. Stupid of me. With that, I began walking faster. Trying to get out of here before our mother finds out. “I think it is best if we travel from tree to tree. That way we aren’t caught leaving.” I whispered to them. “Why don’t we just teleport?” Lobelia asked, louder than she should have. Why can’t she ever read the room? We are quiet so we aren’t caught. Does she not get that mother, our fathers and everyone else would never leave us by ourselves? I turned towards her, growling in her face. “First off, there is a spell preventing us from teleporting in or out of this colony. I already told you this. Secondly, only Lavender and I can teleport; you can’t. Third, learn to shut up and whisper or don’t talk at all. We did not plan all this for your big mouth to get us caught. Finally, if you can’t jump the trees because I know what kind of tragedy it would be if you broke a nail, then you can wrap yourself around my back.” Lobelia rolled her eyes as she looked at her nails in horror. I suppressed another growl as I walked back towards the tree I planned on grabbing. Lavender looked at me expectantly and I knew she wanted me to place the cloak on us, as an extra precaution. I waved my hand, placing the normal cloak I always use and smirked. Lobelia jumped on my back, as I heard her thoughts. ‘Please don’t drop me. Shoot, I forgot to keep my masked scent on. Wow, why does Lily smell this good? I hope this was a good idea.’ I quickly jumped out of her mind, hating how many thoughts always rushed through her mind in such a short amount of time. I held her to me with magic, knowing it would work better that way. Sometimes Lobelia could be ditsy. Who am I kidding? She was almost always ditsy. One time I was carrying her and she forgot, letting go without even thinking twice about it. “Ready?” I whispered to my sisters. Lobelia nodded against my back, and I watched Lavender nod right before jumping up into the tree. Lavender I always thought was more powerful than me, though she seemed to hide it, but maybe I was just wrong. Maybe she is just normal and wants to hide from the embarrassment of it all.
