I blacked out and when I woke up I could feel the hot sun on me. My whole body ached. It was mid-summer and the sun wasn't pleasant. I was still very weak. My memory is foggy. Who am I? Why was I here?
Just like a pot filled with rotten bananas being opened, the memories of the previous day played in my head, causing my head to ache more and my heart to hurt deeply.
Remembering the laughter of those two evil people, I swore in my heart not to ever forget the laughter of both of them and how they tossed me out of the pack.
I was once a girl who had everything apart from a mother, but now I'm just a hopeless, battered orphan lying in the middle of nowhere under the hot sun covered in wounds and surrounded by flies.
I tried standing up, but I couldn't, my body was too weak, so I laid for a couple of minutes until my wolf made me roll over to seek shelter from the sun. The sun was beginning to set, and I still hadn't gotten up.
Hopeless and helpless, I laid thinking of how cursed my life was. My mum died because of me, my dad died on my wedding day, my best friend and my supposed mate betrayed me and murdered my father. No matter how hard my wolf tried to stop me from thinking of myself as a curse, I couldn't help it. Everything was connected to me.
I was starving, I hadn't eaten the whole day and I had no idea how long I had passed out.
“Common Amelia, stop wallowing in self-pity and go get some berries or fruit to eat." I said to myself as I struggled to drag myself up.
I was dizzy and weak, but I knew I had no one but me to care for me. I can't die yet. I have to get justice for my dad's murder.
The new-found motivation pushed me to drag myself into the forest. As fate would have it, the spring was not far away and wild berries were located just before the spring. After filling my stomach and washing my wounds, I felt a lot better and refreshed. I washed my bloodstained dress and wore it again.
Wet, wounded and tired, in a place I had no idea about in the dark was dangerous, and I had to find a way to stay out of the way of rouge werewolves. I climbed up a Silver Birch tree; they were rare but could protect a wounded werewolf from other werewolves. It was like the universe was trying to keep me alive.
The next morning, I left the forest and surveyed my environment. I had lots on my mind, but first I needed to leave this forest. But to where? I wondered as I paced close to the spring.
Lost in thoughts, the last words of my father played in my head. The red blood moon was considered a myth by many. It was the day when a rare breed, one with special curse power, would awaken. A scarlet wolf, as the legend says, and a mate. I couldn't get a mate because of the stupid scar on my face.
I could feel the presence of someone, but I couldn't tell who it was.
“Show yourself now." I demanded as I picked up a stick I intended to use in defending myself.
.
After some minutes, I didn't feel the presence any longer. I laughed at my stupidity; how could I have possibly defended myself when I had injuries all over? I wondered and then burst out laughing like a Lycanthrope lunatic.
I kept moving to the West and having to climb over a mountain to get to the other side. I decided to scavenge the mountains looking for what to fill my belly with and then rest for the night.
“Very tasty berries, I wonder what they're called."I said out loud. If only my father were here, he'd tell me its name.
Hearing the rustling of leaves and people approaching, I turned to take a look but then, all of a sudden, I saw darkness.
Waking up, I could feel chains around my wrists and legs. I wanted to scream, but I had a piece of cloth in my mouth and a bag over my head. It was quite obvious I was in a caravan or cart and the road wasn't a smooth one either.
Why would they kidnap me? Who were they? What did they want from me? I kept wondering. I know I'm far from my pack and besides, I should be dead to them now, I thought. My thoughts raced as I tried to figure out what was going on.
“Dude, I just hope Dimitri finds his mate tonight or someone he can keep as one.” I could hear a deep voice say.
“Well, let's hope so. Besides, hiding one of his eyes makes him look hideous." Another male voice replied.
“Watch your tongue now, or you'll have to watch the cooks wash and make something nice out of it.” A voice which seemed more domineering warned, and then it went all silent again apart from the creaks coming from the wagon and the feet of whatever animal was pulling us and the rustling of winds.
‘This is the opportunity I need’ I said in my heart. If Dimitri is actually the person I have in mind, then I must be his mate. ‘ I must.’ I swore to myself.
All of a sudden, we stopped moving. I couldn't tell what was going on because of the bag covering my face. I felt a strong arm pull me out of the wagon. My feet were expecting the feel of sand baked by the hot summer sun, but they were as surprised as I was to land on the polished floor.
The floor was probably made of marble or well polished stones. I secretly wished to see the splendor of this place as it seemed advanced in technology, even if I hadn't seen it yet.
“Hey, move." A deep husky voice instructed, startling me
