Episode1:Betrayed
After being beaten and left to die, life flashed through my eyes. This wasn't supposed to happen. The cold pavement pressed against my bruised body, and the distant sounds of the city seemed damped and far away.
I closed my eyes sitting on the streets in the middle of nowhere wishing it was all a nightmare I would soon wake up from, but unfortunately it wasn't.
Regrets and betrayal washed over as I recalled all that had happened that day.
It was my wedding day, a day no one thought would come. Amelia Coleman, known for never having a single suitor because of this curse and the inability to connect to my wolf, my supposed mate, was finally getting married.
When Isaac Renfrew proposed, it felt too good to be true. The sun shone brightly on my wedding dress through the big chapel glass, which swept graciously, glittering all the way through.
The scent of freshly picked roses filled the air. My hideous scar was covered with my veil.
My father's eyes met mine, both of us feeling a deep connection as tears filled our eyes. This moment was unimaginable to us.
As I approached the ceremonial altar, the big chapel door swung open. Unfamiliar wereguards swarmed in. Everyone stood up shocked and began running for their lives.
They attacked anyone who tried to escape, making them surrender and lie on the floor. The metallic clang of weapons and the screams of guests echoed through the chapel, a stark contrast to the serene atmosphere moments before.
“Who sent you? Identify yourself!" I commanded, my voice trembling with confusion and fear. A familiar voice echoed as the guards made way for the unknown rival, followed by Maria.
"Isaac, what's all this? Isn't today supposed to be our wedding day?" I asked, bewildered, as he approached me.
He strode past me to the throne where the king (my father) sat, held in place by two of the unknown soldiers.
Caressing my dad who was now struggling to break free from the grip of the weresoldiers, Isaac said "So sorry, darling. I wanted to wait, I really did, but then I thought, why go through all that stress when I could just do it now?"
"Do what now?" I asked, my confusion growing. My heart pounded in my chest, each beat reverberating in my ears. I really wanted to go to my father, but I was restrained and there was nothing I could do but watch in horror.
He grinned at me and said “You watch me, sweetheart."
Handing out his left hand to one of the weresoldiers, a syringe and needle was handed to him. Smirking, he walked towards me and caressed my neck and then whispered “Watch me take the throne.
" Disgusted, I spat on him. The heaviness of this betrayal had weighed down and crushed all the love I had for him.
A hot deafening slap landed on my face causing my knees to go weak and my eyes to go dizzy.
" Muzzle her.” He ordered, as one of the soldiers immediately put an old piece of smelling clothing in my mouth, using it to gag me.
Walking up to my father, he got the crown off his head, kissed it and placed it on his. I struggled to get free, so I could save my father, but to no avail as it was too late. My dad has just been given a huge dose of silver nitrate.
“Brother, please let go of her so she can have a last moment with her dad." Maria said mockingly.
"How dare you?" I yelled as I ran to my father. I couldn't save him, I just couldn't. I wept bitterly as I watched my father die slowly in my arms.
“Amelia", My dad called out to me, trying to raise his weak hands to touch my chin.
“Father, save your breath, I'll take you out of here somehow. Don't leave me." I said, holding onto his hand on my face and bursting into tears.
“Full red moon…" His breath came in short, painful gasps, each one weaker than the last.
“... mate…” my dad said as his breathing stopped. “Noooooooooo…” I screamed in agony while Isaac and Maria watched on excitedly.
“Sweetheart, your time is over.” Isaac said scornfully as he pulled me up by my hair.
“Someone tie her up for me." He said, letting go of my hair as I fell to the ground. The wereguards dragged me out through the very aisle I was supposed to walk past to get my eternal mate.
After some minutes of being pulled by my hair on the dirt, I was tied up to a cedar tree in the heart of our pack's territory. Isaac whipped me mercilessly. Each lash stung but not as bad as my heartached. My once silky white dress had turned red, and I was now coughing out blood. How could Isaac have betrayed me like this? I thought he loved me. Maria was my best friend. In the whole of our pack, they were the only ones that were so close to me. They knew my secrets, but they chose to hurt me this way.
I felt extremely weak as my body couldn't take the lashing anymore, or maybe I couldn't express the pain anymore. Probably they thought I had died already.
“Let her remain there until sunset, when I'm sure she's dead.” I heard Isaac say.
“No, brother , I want her to live with this pain for the rest of her life. Banish her and leave her in the most dreaded part of the forest.” Maria said.
They seemed to be quiet for some time. I could tell that the number of people around had been reduced, but my eyes were too weak to open.
“Maria, you will not decide for me. I am your elder brother.” Issac said sternly after minutes of silence.
“Take her down past the border and dump her body down the hill.”
