I turned ready to defend myself with a lie or something, but to my relief it wasn't me.
A wereguard came and whispered something to the wereguard who was in charge of us. I could tell they were talking about me.
“Hey, you there at the back of the line, follow him." The female weresoldier said and I obeyed. With my head bowed, I trailed behind the werewolf into the storeybuilding where the manly figure looked down at me from before.
He opened a door and bowed to me. “Ma'am you are waiting here for the Alpha." A smile curved up my lips. I was slowly getting close to meeting this ruthless grim reaper and slowly getting to meet someone who'll be my ally.
I sat down on the soft couch and scanned the room. It seemed like it was a study, quite similar to the previous room I had been in. On the other sides of the room were shelves filled with books that piqued my curiosity.
Since I was alone in the room and bored but not wanting to sleep off, I decided to check the books out and possibly get to read the book my heart had captured. I rummaged through the shelf, diligently and judiciously searching for the book while mumbling its title ‘Betrayal and Quest for Power’.
I got a little exhausted and slept on the couch. Waking up, my tummy grumbled, I was hungry. The room was dimly lit, suggesting that it was nighttime already. “Why would anyone kidnap and lock up someone?"
I strode to the window and opened the second part of the window, revealing the glory and beauty of the moonlit night sky.
With the aid of the lamps in the room, I continued my search for the book. Not finding the book, I picked up a handwritten book titled “Red blood moon." I had plans of only flipping through the pages, but the first page piqued my interest. I engulfed myself in it and became oblivious of my surroundings.
“ You seem to have taken a liking to that book” a deep masculine voice sounded behind me.
Startled, the book fell from my hand and tore a little. I struggled to pick it up.
“Who's there?" I asked, as I could only see the physique of a man.
“ Stop,” he commanded. His voice was deep and intimidating, sending chills down my spine as I quivered and shook. He walked close and then around me, observing me like a baby who had just gotten a new toy.
How could I not have noticed him walking in? I asked myself, cursing under my breath as I bit the lower part of my lips.
“ I am sorry” I sheepishly said. I wasn't sure he heard it though.
“That smell, it's you!" I didn't know when those words escaped from my lips. He had an effect on me from a distance and now, having him up close, my wolf felt extremely excited, and I didn't know why. Or maybe I did. This feeling happened only when a werewolf found its destined mate.
“ What smell? Are you insulting me?" He said, cupping my chin in his right hand and staring deeply into my soul.
“No, that's not what I meant.” I stammered.
I kept my head down, not daring to pick up the book. I didn't know what to do. I could feel his gaze scourging deep through me as silence engulfed the room. He sniffed me.
“ Raise your head,” he commanded, breaking the silence.
Slowly raising my head, I gasped at the god in front of me. His body screamed perfection, but just like me, he had scars and some bruises on his face, but that didn't hide his beautiful masculine face, well chiseled jawline and his Adams apple. Everything about him radiates authority. His silky silver hair shines more in the moonlight. The candles lit in the room made me see a little of his face. His chin line framed from countless battles.
And his eyes, although one was covered with an eye patch, the other was icy blue. The way and manner he looked at me sent chills down my spine for the millionth time.
“Have you looked enough?" He asked, his tone filled with disgust. I was suddenly swallowed by guilt. Was I really obvious? I wondered.
“I should be saying that to you since you've got my chin in your hand." I returned, my hands akimbo. He seemed to have just realized that and immediately let go of my face and turned his back towards me.
“Follow me." He said as he dipped both hands into the side pockets of his pants and strolled towards the door.
I couldn't help but feel intimidated by his presence, knowing that his name alone struck fear across the land, but I had a mission, and soon I might be his bride, so I shouldn't act terrified or afraid of him.
“Are you coming, or you're just going to stand there like a rotting mummy put up for display?" He asked, sounding pissed off and tired already.
“Can I come with this book?" I asked as I picked up the book from the floor. I couldn't see the look on his face.
“I'm deeply disappointed, someone will get it for you tomorrow. Don't take my kindness for granted. I could have just asked anyone to bring you to the grand cave. Stop wasting my time,I have important things to attend to." He said as he turned to leave the room. I nodded, picked up the book and headed out of the room trailing behind him.
He helped me hop on his horse and climbed on as well. “Hiaaa" he hit the horse, and it sprinted off into the darkness. Having his body so close to mine made me feel some kind of way. After a couple of minutes of galloping, the horse stopped in front of a magnificent gate and one of the wereguards opened the gates, revealing a very beautiful mansion.
Coming down from the horse, he stepped closer, his eyes narrowing, and then he said something that astonished me “I'm disappointed, I must say, but you intrigue me. I think I'll keep you.”
