CH.45

Hardin's pov

I rolled over and turned my alarm off and noticed Aspen wasn't in the bed. I got up and went into the living room and saw her asleep on the couch. My beautiful mate was up all night working on printing out several emails from pack members and our close friends and family for me to take to elder Todd so he can give them to the other elders to help Jakob and Anna get custody of Kellan. We thought that if they saw from several people that Jakob and Anna we great with Kellan and how much they have been helping him and love him that it would help the elders make the right decision. I went and took a shower and after I got dressed I woke Aspen up and asked if everything was in order and she said everything was there. I kissed her and I headed out. I called elder Todd and asked him to meet me at my cabin at the lake so we could talk privately. When I got there I went inside and set all the paperwork out on the table and made a pot of coffee from the fireplace. When elder Todd arrived we sat down and he asked what I needed to talk to him about and I told him, Colette Elm. He told me he meant to call me yesterday and let me know they found the doctor who forged Jakob's name to the paperwork and the elders have him in custody to await punishment. I asked if there was any way Jakob and I could meet with him to find out why he did that to Jakob and elder Todd said he would see what he could do for us. I told him another reason I called him to meet with me was so we could discuss Colette's punishment and Jakob's request to get custody of Kellan. He asked about the custody request and asked what the DNA results showed and I gave him the papers. He said it may be hard for Jakob to get Kellan without being his biological father and I told him we had several people come forward with statements for Jakob and Anna on how they were with Kellan. He read through them and said he didn't see a reason why they would be denied with so many people coming forward and giving nothing but good statements. He told me he would give the papers to the elders and even try to work a little magic on his end on Jakob and Anna's behalf. We then got on to the topic of Colette's punishment. Elder Todd asked what punishment Aspen and I were asking for and I said honestly we didn't know what to ask for and I asked him what he thought we should do. He told me if he were in my shoes he would ask that she be banished from the packlands and have to live as a rogue since she didn't physically hurt anyone. I told him that was somewhat along the lines of what Aspen and I were leaning towards but we also wanted it stated she wouldn't be allowed to take Kellan with her once she was banished. He asked why other than Jakob and Anna wanting Kellan and I said because as parents Aspen and I feel like Kellan would be better off without being drug through life as a rogue with his mother. I told him about Kellan's developmental issues and said he could be fostered by my parents until he and the other elders could decide if Jakob and Anna should get custody if her punishment came before the custody hearing. He nodded and told me he would be in contact and would do everything he could on his end to try and help Jakob and Anna. we said bye and I headed home to fill everyone in on my meeting.  

Jakob's pov

After training this morning I didn't have a class so I went and got Anna up for us to go and enjoy breakfast together downstairs. When we left the dining hall Colette ran into Anna as we were coming around the doorway and she glared at me and Anna. I asked how Kellan was and she said he was fine and then rudely asked when I planned on getting my son and I told her I could come get him before lunch and she said she would have his stuff ready. Once we were away from Colette Anna asked if we should go ahead and get Kellan some more things for when we get custody and I said slow down baby we don't know what is going to happen. She told me she just wanted to be prepared and I kissed the top of her head and said I know baby but we need to wait and see what elder Todd says before we decide to buy anything else for him. I told her whatever we were lacking for him right now I'm sure Hardin and Aspen could help with. We headed out back and went for a walk. We ended up in the greenhouse and Anna picked some flowers to go in our room. I sat in the back of the greenhouse and let Anna do her thing. While we were in there that same kid from the other night with Colette came in and walked up towards Anna I growled and he looked over at me. I stood up and said you were told to stay away from Annalynn by your Beta and Alpha do you have a death wish? He looked at me and said he was there to deliver a message to Annalynn, I asked what the message was and he said he was told to tell Annalynn to stay away from Kellan or she would wish she was never born. I looked at this kid and said you had better tell me who is threatening your Beta female or you will wish you were never born and the kid said some chick told him to tell her. I said would this be the same chick you were screwing in the woods a few nights ago and his eyes got big and he took off out the door. Anna looked at me and said, 

"What in the hell is wrong with Colette? I haven't said anything to her in a few days so why is she coming at me now?" I told her I didn't know but I was going to get to the bottom of it when I went to pick Kellan up. 

After we left the greenhouse I escorted Anna upstairs to our room and I told her I'd be back after I pick Kellan up and Have a word With Colette. She kissed me and said she would be waiting. I sent a mind-link to Evander and asked if he was free to come with me in case I needed him and he said he wasn't busy and would be up in a few minutes. I waited by the stairs on my floor so I could fill him in before we went down to Colette's floor. Once he got there and I told him my reason for needing him we headed down and I knocked on her door. She opened the door and handed me Kellan's bag and then handed Kellan over to me. Before she could close the door I put my foot in it and said Next time you think about sending some punk kid to threaten my mate you better dig your grave because I will not hesitate to put your a** in the ground. She huffed and said, 

"I don't like being threatened when I haven't done anything," I said don't f*cking play stupid with me Colette you sent that kid to find Anna and tell her to stay away from Kellan. No one else in my pack would ever treat Anna that way. Plus who else would want her to stay away from our son?  

She stood there with her eyes glaring and I said glare all you want but you threaten Anna one more time and you won't have to worry about dealing with Alpha Hardin I'll end things myself. She laughed and said,

 she shouldn't have my son calling her mommy. That is my title and she does not deserve to have my son call her that. I busted out laughing and said you think you deserve that title? That's hilarious. You haven't done sh*t to ensure Kellan gets the help he needs but Anna on the other hand has been working with him every chance she gets to help our son. I am going to say this again and you better listen good Colette threaten Anna again and you will be digging your own grave. I moved my foot from her doorway and she screamed as she slammed the door. Evander stood there with a shocked look on his face and I said I forgot you aren't used to this. 

I took Kellan to our room and told Anna what was said between Colette and I and she told me she was going to ignore her because Kellan deserves better and that was what she was going to give him. We played for a while and then we took Kellan down for lunch.
