Jakob's pov
When I woke up my head was killing me and my hand was sore. The cuts were healed but the pain was still there. Anna was asleep and I knew I needed to get up and shower then get my day going as I normally would. Now that Anna's heat was over with, it was time to get back to work and act like everything was ok until we figured out a way to get around me not being Kellan's biological father so we could still gain custody of him and give him the life he deserves. I have started building a bond with him and I love my son no matter what the DNA paper says, he is mine and I will do whatever I can to protect him. I jumped in the shower and once I got out and got dressed I left Anna a note letting her know I was going to training and then to my class at the gym. When I got to the training field Thomas asked if I was back and I told him I was. He gave me my clipboard and whistle and said,
"Thank goddess dude. I don't see how you do this every week." I laughed and said years and years of doing it you get used to it.
Once everyone showed up I was getting ready to start workouts when Hardin came up to me. He asked if he could talk to me for a minute and I told him yeah. We walked off to the side of the field and he asked how I was this morning. I told him I had a hangover but I would be fine. He said,
"Jak, I know how bad that hurt you last night but I just want you to know you can always talk to me or Aspen when you get like that man. We've been friends our whole lives and I want you to come to me as you used to when sh*t gets bad."
I said I know I can come to you and Aspen but I was in my head after reading that and I wanted time to myself. Anna knew where I was and she was the person I needed with me and I am so grateful to have such an amazing mate. I am grateful for the support system I have here and if it gets bad enough I will come talk to you bro I promise. I told him after my class I needed to have a meeting with him, Anna, and Aspen so we could go over some stuff that Anna and I have decided on. He told me he would make sure to clear anything he had going on and makes sure Aspen was free as well. After our talk, I started training and was able to get through it with no issues. I headed to the gym after training and waited until my students showed up. Brie asked how Anna was and I told her she was fine and she asked how I was. I laughed and said I am fine Anna wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. Brie laughed and said,
"You must be one lucky wolf because everyone I know says we can be awful towards our mates. I'm glad Anna wasn't that bad and I'm glad she didn't kill you." I laughed and said yeah me too.
Once everyone showed up I started class and had a little bit of trouble in class with my head but I pushed through it and as soon as it was over I headed straight to doctor Morris's office to get something for my migraine and for the pain in my hand.
Annalynn's pov
I woke up and Jakob wasn't in the bed. I freaked out but then found his note letting me know where he was. I smiled at the fact he was trying to get back to normal and wasn't wanting to lay around and be depressed. I got up and took a shower. When I got out I got dressed and decided to go down for breakfast. When I got down to the dining hall it was not as full as it usually is which made me wonder if something was going on that I missed. I saw everyone sitting at the ranked table so I went and sat down. I asked Aspen what was going on and where everyone was and she said,
"Anna, Colette is the reason half the pack is missing from the dining hall." I asked what she meant by that and she said "She has pushed pack members to the point of wanting to stay home and eat rather than come sit with all of their friends and family. No one wants to be around her."
I said then let's get rid of her. We all know she is nothing but a piece of trash who needs to be punished for the sh*t she has been doing since arriving here and the biggest thing she needs to be punished for is her lies! Aspen looked at me and then looked at everyone around us and I nodded and said well we will talk about all of that later but I will say this, I am not going to let her push me to eat somewhere else. Brie asked when Colette was going to be leaving because she didn't like how she looks at Evander. I said I don't like how she looks at any of the ranked members including the twins. I said it's not right since she knows they all have mates except Thomas but he hasn't shown her a bit of attention since she got here so he is obviously not interested in her. Aspen said,
"Ok enough about her we all have better things to talk about so let's enjoy the rest of our breakfast and talk about something else." everyone said yes Luna.
After breakfast, I was walking out of the dining hall with Hardin and Aspen when Jakob came in the door. He looked like crap and I asked if he was ok. He said he was fine just hungover but he went and got something for his head and had doctor Morris give him something for his hand. Aspen stepped out from behind Hardin and said,
"You're lucky you aren't having to ask her to sew your member back on Jakob!" Jakob said "I know Asp and I am sorry for taking off like that and not replying to y'all. I won't do it again." Aspen said, "good as long as you are sorry and know not to ever do that again then we are fine."
Jakob said, "Hardin are you ready for that meeting?" I asked what meeting and Jakob told me the one about what we talked about last night and I said oh ok. We all headed upstairs to Hardin's office. Once the door was closed Hardin said,
"Ok, so what is going on? We know that the results came back that you are not but what has changed that we need to know about?"
Jakob said, " Ok so just because the results say I am not Kellan's biological father, it doesn't mean that Anna and I are going to give up on getting custody of Kellan. We want to give Kellan the life he deserves and he won't get that life if he stays with Colette. Anna has been more of a mother to him in the short time he has been here with us than Colette has since he was born. We have been working on getting his eating bad habits changed and we have succeeded so far with that, we have gotten him off of drinking nothing but juice all day and night. We have been working with him on his speech and working on walking. Everyone here knows that Anna and I have been working hard to better Kellan and we feel like we have a good shot with everyone's help to get custody of him. We love our son and don't want him to be put into an orphanage once Colette's crimes come to light." I said Jakob is right.
Everyone looked at me and I told them Jakob is right about all of it. We fell in love with Kellan and we want to give him a happy home and a life he deserves with a family who loves and cares for him and if he goes into an orphanage he is probably going to grow up with hatred in his heart for the people who abandoned him and may end up like Colette or worse.
Aspen said, " I think that the two of you wanting to give that pup a better life is one of the best things for him. The two of you are amazing with him and with our pups and if I can do anything to help make his life better in any way I will do whatever I can to help. I am so proud of you Jakob. it warms my heart to know that you do truly love Kellan and still want him in your life to raise him. Anna, I am proud of you as well because you taking on another woman's child is a tough thing to do but I have seen you with Kellan and it is as if it was meant to be. You are going to be an amazing mom!" I told Aspen thank you.
Hardin said, "Jakob I will do whatever I can to help bro. I have seen how much having Kellan has matured you and I couldn't be more proud of you! I know your parents are even more proud of their son and who is has become. You have our support any way we can help just let us know."
I said now that everyone is up to date on things we need to discuss Colette's punishment. Jakob and I haven't really thought about it but I think it is more on Hardin and Aspen to come up with since they will have to go through the elders. Jakob nodded and I said Aspen I know you were going to give this to Jakob and I but You and Hardin are the head of this pack so whatever the two of you ask for, Jakob and I will be ok with it. Aspen said she was going to talk to Hardin about it later and they would let us know what they decide to ask the elders for.
