Mate!

"Amelia"

I groaned out loudly at the voice and whoever was violently shaking me awake from my peaceful and comfortable sleep.

"Father?" I blinked surprised to see him standing over my bed with a look of thunder on his face.

"Do you have anything you want to tell me?" He demanded to know taking the seat beside the bed as I sat myself up and tried to remember what he would be talking about.

That's when it hit me. Oh yes. Last night.

"I'm sorry but I just needed to get out and the fresh air was... !" I started to say but he put his hand up to motion me into silence.

I could already sense the disappointment in him as he spoke. "You do not leave without any supervision. It is not safe. I do not want to have to repeat myself or keep you locked up." He warned. "Now do you understand? Have I made myself perfectly clear this time?"

I gulped and nodded.

"Good. Then get yourself up and ready, then we can begin your birthday celebrations." He leant across to give me a hug which I accepted.

"Happy birthday my dear." He said before closing the door behind him and leaving me all alone.

I felt so ashamed for not listening to him, yesterday I had saved him from deaths door and now I seemed to be just causing more unnecessary stress.

"We did what was best for the moment. Happy birthday dear Amelia." My wolf told me but I ignored her.

Quickly showering and dressing in a black skirt and white blouse, I pulled my long hair back into a neat ponytail. Staring at my reflection I smiled back at myself and was about to head down to the breakfast hall when there was a loud knock at my bedroom door.

I opened it to see Sian standing there looking a little nervous.

"Sorry to bother you but I just wanted to give you this. I know it isn't much but Happy birthday." She handed me a card and small box of chocolates before hurrying off all red faced and embarrassed.

I didn't understand why she was so weird about giving me a card so I called her back and she immediately did so.

"Thank you so much but what is the rush?" I wanted to know.

"Well I wasn't sure if you would be happy to receive anything from someone like me."

She kept her eyes on the floor and I could tell she was uncomfortable.

"I am very grateful thank you for thinking of me." I smiled and she instantly grinned.

"Wow that's great. Nobody ever thanks me for things. I suppose I better get back to work now." She bounced off happily and I was glad to make at least one person happy today.

I had literally just got down the steps when I bumped into Zoe. She looked annoyed and irritated to see it was me.

"Oh sorry I didn't see you there." I smirked as I kept on walking.

"Aww here she is our birthday princess." Luna Amanda came up to me with her hands out to hug me. She wore a beautiful red dress and was smiling warmly as she kissed my cheeks.

"Happy birthday." Everyone was greeting me and wishing me a happy birthday. It was a really nice feeling but all I wanted was to eat. My stomach was growling like an angry lion in the circus.

"Let's eat now. " my father laughed. "We have a special guest coming today. "

"The Lycan prince Stephen will be coming to visit this afternoon."

"Whose he?" I had no idea who he could be but he was clearly someone of importance the way everyone was suddenly buzzing with excitement. I decided I would find Sian and ask her because nobody was explaining it to me here.

"Do you want to come shopping with us?" A tall red haired girl from across the table asked me which took me by surprise.

"You are?" I raised an eyebrow questioningly.

"Lara. My father is best friends with your father." She said holding out her hand for me to shake.

"Oh your the gammas daughter?" She nodded proudly.

"Oh Yes and that is Zoe. She's my cousin." I wrinkled my nose at the sound of her name and looked over to where Lara had pointed. Zoe was deep in conversation with Luke about something I couldn't care less about.

"Oh yes I've already had the pleasure of meeting her. I'm not sure she would want me tagging along." I laughed.

"Oh don't mind her she's always a miserable cow, that's just our Zoe. You will get used to her."

"So are they mates?" Lara giggled childishly and shook her head.

"No, but they have been going out practically our entire lives. Luke rejected his mate last month for her. Some omega girl, she was so devastated."

I watched them carefully. Luke seemed head over heels for her and I wondered what it would be like to find my own mate. Suddenly I recalled last night being chased and someone saying those words. The smell of chocolate and vanilla had been so powerful.

I needed to find out who that was.

"Thanks for the offer but I think I will stay home. Maybe next time."

"Ok." Lara grinned, gave me a small wave and hurried off.

I knew my father would disapprove of me going out on my own and it's was so frustrating but I needed to go for a run. Ava was desperate to get out again.

I decided to ask Luke to come with me for a run since he was so adamant that he needed to protect me and plus I didn't really know anyone else here yet.

"Fancy a fun?" I practised my mind link skills and smiled to myself when he replied with a yes pretty much straight away.

Zoe had gone off with Lara so we had plenty of time. I was so excited to let my wolf out again. Ava was just so beautiful.

Luke met me outside. “Let’s go.” He offered me his arm and led me down the steps.

We ended up at the lake where I had been only last night. Luke eyed me curiously. I smiled pretending that i wasn’t having second thoughts about this.

I hid behind the tree so I could shift allowing Ava to fully take control. As soon as we had both shifted Luke’s wolf Colton, sniffed me and we took a long drink from the lake before playfully running around each other.

Luke wolf was black with a grey strip across his face. Ava seemed to have taken a liking to him and whimpered with excitement when he nuzzled in.

Then that smell hit me again. and it was stronger than I remembered.

Chocolate and vanilla.

Then I saw him.

A beautiful big black wolf with pure green eyes that were full of lust and fixated in my direction. He kept repeating the word “Mine.”

Ava whimpered screaming “Mate”

I wanted to go to him but suddenly Luke’s wolf jumped in front of me growling so furiously it was quite frightening. I didn’t understand what was going on.

Why was he stopping access to my mate.

“Shift now!” He ordered. I did as he said. Grabbing my clothes and hurrying to dress. I could hear the two of them growling at each other.

“Please stop fighting.” I begged running between the two of them realising that might not have been a good idea because in an instant my mate came charging towards Luke and knocked me straight off my feet.

Letting out a loud shriek I fell to the ground hurting my ankle in the process. Tears streaming down my face as pain took over.

“Amelia”.

“What have you done you shouldn’t be here rogue.” Luke snarled shifting back to his human form.

“It’s ok Amelia your dad is on the way. “ Luke informed me as if that was going to make me feel any better.

I’ve only been here two days and already caused so much problems.

I stared up at the wolf who was my mate. He wouldn’t take his eyes off of me and I just wanted to go to him the mate bond was pulling me to him and I couldn’t hold back. Luke pulled me into his arms, holding me close to his chest.

My mate let out a low warning growl. He didn’t like that Luke was touching me.

“Go to mate!” Ava was screaming in my head.

My ankle has healed now but Luke was strong and refused to let me go no matter how much I kicked and screamed.

“What’s going on here?” My alpha father bellowed as he and some of the warriors appeared in front of us.

Luke pointed to my mate and my dads face fell. He looked so mad and instantly shifted into his big alpha wolf.

“MATE!” I screamed. But stopped the second my father spoke.

“No he’s not your mate. Amelia he is the enemy and over my dead body will you be anything to do with the enemy!”

I was dragged away from the clearing and taken back to the packhouse where the Luna was waiting for me. She wrapped a blanket around me while I was taken to a room and locked in.

“For your own good.” Luke and the Luna said.
