The Packhouse

2031 Words
The pack house was huge, there were people everywhere and they all seemed extremely friendly. My father held my hand as he led me from the car to the main door. Waiting in the entrance hall, there were a bunch of people. The second they caught sight of us they were bowing their heads and I felt a rush of excitement. This must be what it felt like to be a celebrity or royalty. Well I suppose you could say I am important as my father is the Alpha of this pack. It seems he remarried soon after my mother passed away and I was given up for adoption. His wife was short with wide eyes and a big grin on her face but I noticed the bump first. I turned to my father and he put and arm around my shoulder. “You have a lot of family to meet, including a new pup sibling.” He explained, greeting his wife with a kiss and placing his other arm around her. She leaned over to greet me. “Hello Amelia. It’s so good to finally meet you. My name is Luna Amanda and this in here is your brother or sister.” She rubbed her very pregnant belly excitedly and grinned like w Cheshire Cat showing off her perfectly straight and white teeth. I had to admit she really was beautiful and had a vibe about her that made me feel at ease. “Pleased to meet you Luna.” I bowed as I had seen others do unsure if I was supposed to. “This here is my best friend and beta Thomas, the one on the right is my gamma George. The head of omegas is Harriet. Should you need anything she will be there to assist you. Now if you will excuse me for a moment I need to have a word with my beta.” My father said. “But father I ..” I started but he promised he would t be long and we would talk properly then. I didn’t want him to leave me but I was suddenly pulled away by the Luna. She wanted to show me my new bedroom and talk with me. I didn’t have much choice there. We walked down the hall to an elevator which took us up to the floor which i would be sleeping on. “It must be very strange for you to come back after all this time.” Luna Amanda said. I shrugged my shoulders. It was the weirdest thing to happen to me but i kind of liked it. I was away from people who thought it was ok to lie to me and I hoped I would not have to see their faces anytime soon. “I won’t leave your side unless you want me to. I can see you have been hurt. Please trust that you will be happy and safe here.” The Luna said reaching for my hand and squeezing it softly. I smiled across at her and nodded without saying a word. The elevator clicked open to reveal a long but beautiful hallway with red carpet and white painted walls. Photos of the Alpha and probably my ancestors hung from the walls and the doors to the rooms looked posh and like something from an expensive hotel. My eyes almost popped out of my head as the Luna opened the door to my new bedroom. It was huge, a big four poster bed with my own bathroom and huge tv to watch my Netflix on. Oh my word this was amazing. I can’t believe I missed out on all this for the last fifteen years of my life. Andrea would definitely be hating me right now. I chucked quietly to myself at the thought of her seeing all this. “Now I think once your settled your father will call for you and we will then have diner which is at 6pm. Your first shift will most likely be after midnight when you turn sixteen. How exciting.” The Luna exclaimed. I wasn’t sure about exciting. It sounded really scary but I was looking forward to seeing what my wolf would look like. Suddenly a loud alarm sounded and the luna flew around trying to hide her panic but I could see the fear in her eyes. “What is it?” I cried almost to afraid to know the answer. “I just linked your father. We need to get to the bunkers right away. Come let’s go.” She yelled over the alarm. “What do you mean linked?” I frowned unsure what that meant but no time for explaining things. The head omega rushed into the room and hurried us into the elevator down to the bottom of the packhouse through an outdoor and into a massive bunker. It was so packed I felt sick. Where was my father and what the heck was going on. “Rogues probably.” I heard a young voice beside me say quietly. I looked at the girl she was wearing a maid uniform, she looked around my age, with her long black hair nearly plaited down her back and a face of freakles. She bowed at me and I wasn’t sure what to do back so I just sat down and smiled back at her. “What’s that?” Her eyes widened in shock. “Well Mam rogues are wolfs that don’t have a pack, they are dangerous and not allowed on the Alpha’s land. It’s the law.” She whispered to me. “What’s your name?” “I’m Sian and one of the omegas. You must be the Alpha’s daughter.” I nodded. “It would seem that I am the Alpha daughter.” She went bright red with embarrassment at my sacrastic reply which I instantly felt guilty for. “Sorry my name is Amelia. It has been a long and crazy day. First I found out my best friend is a cheat, my boyfriend a loser and my parents not my parents, to then find out that I’m actually a werewolf that’s about to find her wolf and all that in less than twenty four hours.” I sighed and rested my head in my hands. This was just as crazy as it sounded. “No need to apologise. If I can be of any assistant to you please let me know.” She said and I nodded in response. “Amelia there you are”. The Luna gasped with relief as she appeared in front of me. “I thought I had lost you but here you are it seems you have made a friend in the omega.” I noticed the disgust in the Luna’s voice as she glared at Sian. The omega bowed and hurried off. The Luna turned to me with a smile and I wondered why she had spoke of Sian like she was embarrassed by her. Instead of asking about it I didn’t say a word. Just sat there like a lemon watching everyone else around me and wondering when whatever was going on outside would be over with because a nice hot bath and a good sleep on that new bed sounded so good right now. “What is happening?” I wanted to know. The Luna sat down beside me taking my hands into hers and sighing. “When you have a mate you can mindlink them and that is what happened. Your father, the Alpha along with the beta and all our warrior men are out protecting our land and people from the rogues. They shouldn’t be on our land. That’s what the alarm is for and this place keeps us safe til we can come out.” She explained. A loud cackling sound echoed around the bunker and everyone fell silent as a voice was heard over the intercom. “We were attacked by rogues. The alpha is very hurt. We are taking him to the pack hospital but the rogues are all dead. An announcement over some intercom was heard. “ I guessed that was the Beta talking. The Luna shrieked furiously at the news of the alpha being injured. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I needed to get to my father and make sure he was ok. I rushed to the door of the bunker before anyone could stop me and rushed out into the open air. I had no idea where the hell I was going but then Sian appeared behind me calling my name desperately. I stopped for a second and let her catch me up. I had no idea where I was going anyway. “I’m sorry mam but the Luna wants you to return to the bunker immediately.” “No chance. I need to see my father. NOW!” I growled. She instantly guided me to the place they call the pack hospital. I pushed my way through the doors and into a room which was being guarded by some tall muscly guys. They looked shocked at the sight of me and Sian. “Amelia you shouldn’t be here.” My fathers beta came rushing to me in an attempt to stop me from going into where I assumed my father was. “I command you to move from my way and allow me to see my father.” I insisted. His face fell and he did as I ordered. Much to my suprise. “Is be hurt badly?” I gasped the minute I saw my father hooked up to all these machines and someone who I guessed was the doctor. She was an old looking lady with glasses and a clipboard. She gazed at me for a few seconds before gasping out loud, almost dropping her clipboard. “Oh my goddess. It’s really you. Amelia. You look so much like your.. wow you are the double. “ I frowned confused for a moment. Who was she talking about and how did she even know my name. “What?” “Forgive me for my lack of manners. It’s just you look so much like your mother.” I stepped back at the mention of my real mother. “So you knew my mother?“ I couldn’t help the shaky tone in my voice as the doctor motioned for me to take a seat. “I most certainly did. I was the one who helped her through the childbirth. She loved you every much.” I thought I saw a tear in her eyes as she remembered. “But my father?” I pointed to the man on the bed with his eyes closed. “Is he going to die?” The doctor turned to my father and shook her head causing me to breath a sigh of relief. “The alpha was hurt badly and normally his wolf would be able to heal him quicker but we think he was shot with some kind of poison.” I walked around my fathers bedside and reached for his hand. I didn’t like seeing him in such an awful state. I had only just got to know him and couldn’t lose him already. The second my hand touched his I felt a strange jolt of electricity shoot through me and my father. The doctor saw this and stepped back in shock. “What the hell was that? “ I jumped in fright, afraid I had done something bad. The doctor started examining my father without a word and his eyes flickered open. He sat up and saw me straight away, smiling with happiness. It was like he had just been asleep and woke up. His wound has gone and I could not make any sense of what happened. “This is absolutely amazing. I always knew you were a gifted child. Your mother knew it too.” The doctor exclaimed. My father reached for me and I hugged him. “My dear child. You saved my life. It seems you have found one of your many powers.” Powers? What the heck.
