Callahan pov

It's been a week since My mom had asked Chase to find Taylor, she's been pacing and looking at her phone to see if anyone has called. I knew if Chase didn't tell her something, I sent him a link.

“Hey Chase, if you don’t come in here now and tell my mother something, she's going to blow her top. I really don’t feel like hearing her scream at me for something I haven't done.” I heard him laugh in my head, “Plus there is something i’m needing to speak with you about so hurry up with my mom and then come see me.”

“Is it something I need to worry about?”

“Nope, just hurry up.”

Chase pov

Now im worried, today was my day off and all i wanted was to relax enjoy a cold beer watch a few movies than sleep for tomorrow's shift, But instead the king linked me and told me i needed to tell his mother something before he yells at him for no reason, i have forgotten all about it, i drinked down my first beer it was almost gone anyways, i brushed my teeth so the queen wouldn't think i was drunk then i took off to the castle, I went over in my head what i was going to tell her, to be honest, i went to see Taylor, she didn’t know i was there, but the guy that Callahan hired to look after Taylor, i had to wait until she left to talk to him, He told me she's been working with him in the day time and at night, she's been going to night school to be a vet tech. She's been doing well in her studies. Do i tell her about that, he didn't tell me what school she is going to, so i could tell her that, just not the school, I headed to her office she was looking at her computer when i walked inside, she looked up telling me to sit down, So i did, she stood up and stood right in front of me with her arms crossed over her chest, she was wearing Tan slacks and a tan button up shirt, her hair was up in a bun like a school teacher,

‘Chase mind telling me why you haven't been in my office telling me what you heard of that girl. I've been waiting for a week wondering what's going on. i thought for just one second that you couldn’t find her, so tell me what have you found out. I’m tired of waiting on my information.” Dang, I couldn't even say anything first before she started on me, I almost forgot what I was going to say. But i knew i had to tell her something so she wouldn’t keep bugging me, so I made up a few things so she would be happy with it,

“My guys had to come into town to look for her, they found her three days ago following her around, she works at a hotel cleaning rooms in the day, and goes to school at night, when she's done with school she hurries back to the hotel and runs into her room shutting and locking the door like she's scared that someone is after her, Maybe she thinks if we find her we will hurt her again. They didn’t tell me what hotel or school she lives and goes to. but that's all they found out,” I really hope this is enough for her, So she will drop it.” I stood up about to leave when she said,

‘Thank you Chase, at least I know she is doing okay for herself. We are not going after her unless she steps foot on royal ground. That is up to my son if he wants her back here. i can not over rule that he is the king after all, You may go and enjoy the rest of your day off,” i bowed and said

‘Thank you my queen, Your son wants to talk to me as well, but I promise I will not tell him what I had found out about her, he might get pi$$ed. I would rather not be in the way of that,” I left to go to Callahan's office. When I reached his office he was sitting at his desk looking at a photo, i couldn’t tell who it was, but I didn't want to bother asking either. I stood there leaning against the wall until he put it away. Whatever it was, I didn't want any part of it.

‘Alright man. So, since my mom keeps nagging me about naming a beta or a right hand man., you are officially retired from being a guard. I want you to be my right hand man, aka my beta. You will be at all the meetings I go to and take care of the castle if I am away, But you will handle some of the paperwork, you know your way around the castle, So what do you say man.” I thought about it for a few minutes, then answered him,

“Yeah man. i would love to, i know your dad had a beta, but things happened and he left, he wanted his mate or something but she wouldn’t leave her pack, so he went to hers. I already had my mate. She rejected me because I was a guard. good riddance that's what i say, she was from another pack. So i never see her, that's a good thing, So, Yeah i’ll be your right hand man aka Beta, do i need to do any paperwork or something?”

“Its already done. all you need to do is sign it, i have a guard already in your place tomorrow,”He slide the paperwork toward me, i read it over than signed it.” i was officially a beta and no longer a guard,

“So what do I do now?”

“Well, I say go get your stuff from your house, and move into the fourth wing of the house, you have a whole fourth wing to yourself, just like me, i have the top floor to myself mom has the fifth, its at least until you find your second chance mate. Then she will be moving with you, after you move into your floor then you will start work.”

‘Alright man, no problem, I’m going to need some help, I have a whole house full of stuff to move,” I watched as he smirked at me. I wondered what he was up to.”

“Man, do you really think i was going to let you do this all on your own, while we been talking, half of your things are already here in your room they are already going for the last part of your things, all you will to do is arrange everything,”

“Well damn, Thanks dude, You rock for a king,” We both laughed, i went to the elevator to head to the fourth floor that was all for myself, there was stuff i needed to look through anyways, I had a long night ahead of me, I felt very honored being the kings beta, i knew we were bestfriends,

“Hey man. by the way. Not sure what your mom is going to do with the information I gave her, But she seemed happy with it.”

‘Let's just hope she stays that way and doesn't want to go looking for her. herself,”
