The Leopard King!

Chapter one Jennifer, Callahan(s) mothers POV: I wasn’t exactly sure what Callahan wanted to do for his birthday, so I decided to have a cake made for him and invite a few of his friends over to celebrate. Callahan had a ton of friends, so i am sure all of them will be attending; I booked the hall for his music, food, and drinks, so we should have plenty of room for everyone. I should probably mention that we are not human! We are cats… well, technically speaking, we are Leopards. Not many of us are still around. We all scattered through the Cold War. Okay, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way let’s get back to the celebration for Callahan. I was making sure everything was in its place. The cooks will be bringing the cake and food later today. The DJ is already setting up his booth, and the decorations have been placed perfectly! I walked back into the castle just in time to see Callahan and Taylor coming down the stairs together. I have told him time and time again that he needs to leave that girl alone. What will happen when he finds his mate tonight! Poor girl will be heartbroken once she finds out that they are not mates. Callahan, being as stubborn as he is, kept assuring me that they were only friends and nothing has ever happened between them. I was annoyed when she looked up at him, smiling with her big beautiful eyes. Taylor, she is a very pretty girl, she has long dark hair with these beautiful big brown eyes, her smile can always light up a room. I am just not so sure that they are mates. When they got down to the last step, Taylor told him she would see him tonight; she hugged him and walked away. I couldn’t help but shake my head at him, that poor girl. “Callahan, how many times do I have to tell you that you need to leave that poor girl alone! What will happen when you shift tonight and you find out that she is not your mate? Then what!? Her heart will be broken? How is that fair to her!” He turned, with an apple in his mouth chewing slowly so he couldn’t answer right away. He folded his arms at me. “Mother, I have already explained to you that Taylor and I are just friends! I tried, trust me. I have tried everything to get her into bed with me. Last night, I was so close, mom.. I had her in my bed, I was kissing her, but she stopped me. She said the same thing you keep telling me, what will happen if i find my mate tonight, would i leave her high and dry? So we decided to stay friends until then. It's only for tonight, and if i don’t find my mate, then i am in the clear to do whatever i want to do.” I could not believe my ears, Did he just tell me he almost had s*x with Taylor! After all of my warnings? I sighed, shaking my head again. I really didn't want to know this at all, i mean, I knew he had other girls in his room, and i knew they were doing more than just watching tv. I just never wanted to say anything to him about it. The walls are soundproof, so no one could hear anything anyway, but he doesn’t know this, nor does he need to know. “Callahan, just go and check the hall to see if everything is set to go for tonight, and then go and do what you want to do, but be back here later on for your party. Your friends will be here later tonight,” He rolled his eyes playfully at me, and i swatted his butt. He jumped and then walked away to head to the hall or whatever he did. He knew that he was next in line to be king, so he needed to stay out of trouble. Though he gets into plenty of it, he just thinks we don’t know anything about it. I heard footsteps coming down the hall, I know those footsteps from anywhere! Those steps belong to my mate, my husband. He put his arms around my waist, and he held me tightly, leaning in softly kissing me on my lips, i knew something was up when he softly sighed. ‘Alright Randy, what's wrong? What's going on?” “Honey there is nothing going on right at this moment, We have visitors at the border, and i'm taking some warriors and guards with me to check it out. I know it’s our sons birthday, but I need to handle this before anything happens! Please do not worry. I will be back in a few days. He pulled me closer to him; kissing my forehead, then told me he loved me Before walking away. It’s so easy for him to tell me not to worry. I worry about him all the time! I know he goes to meetings, and sometimes i go with him, but this time, i just couldn’t. I tried to get my mind off of things by cleaning around the castle. The cleaners always say to leave it to them, but i knew they were thankful for the help, and soon it would be time for my son’s party! So i rushed to shower, put on jeans and a pullover blue top, my hair in a ponytail then slipped into my shoes, and i was done. If my husband Randy was here, I would dress up, but since he is not able to be here, I just tossed on some comfortable clothes. I hurried outside so I could greet Callahan's friends. Everyone was already inside so I stood there for a moment at the front, looking around to see if I could spot Callahan and what do you know, he was surrounded by females and was eating it up of course. I started looking around for Taylor. As soon as the girls took a step back, I saw her right beside my son. Sighing as I remembered the talk I had with Ryan. He told me to leave the girl alone. You never know, they could be mates. I wasn’t so sure because Callahan was flirting with another girl right in front of Taylor. However, oddly enough she didn’t seem to be bothered by it at all, she had no claim over him, Maybe it was true they were only friends, or maybe she was putting on a strong front for Callahan. Anyway, the celebration was starting and as soon as the music started everyone was dancing and having a good time, thankfully there was no drama. I kept my promise to my son and only had a few drinks, sang him happy birthday, had a slice of cake, and then I left. I wanted him to have fun on his night, I knew he would tell me everything that next morning anyway. Taylor(s) POV: Tonight was the night of Callahan's celebration, and I really was not in the mood to get dressed up when I knew the queen ( his mother ) would be watching me throughout the night. Callahan told me everything she’s been warning him about. I questioned him, “Didn’t you tell her that we are only friends?” He replied, “Yes I did, but you know how mom is, she has to see it for her own eyes, just come to the party have fun and if you feel like going home afterwards then go home, but i want you there Taylor,” My heart skipped a beat when he said that. I liked Callahan. I really do. But i'm not getting my hopes up on him being my mate. I decided to woman up and go to his celebration, I was late, of course, and arrived 20 minutes after the party started. His hazel green eyes lit up when he saw me. He hurried over and grabbed my hand, then led me onto the dance floor. After a while, tons of people came into the hall, and the females started crowding around us. I knew i wasn't the only female that he had had up in his room, and of course, I was jealous! My Kate Kimmie wanted to claw their throats out until i reminded her we had no claim over him. After a while, they parted ways, and I didn’t feel so crowded. I have not yet shifted. My birthday was just around the corner, and I will be shifting in a few weeks. I've been training every day so i can be strong when that time comes. I was looking around at everyone in the hall when I noticed his mom looking over at us, I smiled at her and waved her over. We talked for a few minutes, had cake and a few drinks, then she excused herself, I was also tired, and I really didn’t want to stay here any longer. “I am going to head home Callahan, you enjoy the rest of your night, okay?” He walked me toward the doors, and when I looked into his eyes, I could have sworn i had seen a different color, I wasn't so sure. Maybe I was just really tired. He wasn't supposed to shift for another few hours, and I really didn't want to stay for that and find out some other female was his mate! So I went home, I needed to go shopping tomorrow anyways, I wanted to stay away as long as I could so if he did find his mate tonight, I wouldn’t have to go to the celebration tomorrow. I will be out shopping and act like I didn't know anything. So I went home, took a long hot shower, and went to bed. Maybe tomorrow will come and go, and i won't even know it, but until then, I just hope the night goes by quickly.
