Chapter 8

{Emily} "What is the meaning of this?" My father, Presley, was not amused as a pissed off aura flew off him in waves. Power and strength radiated from him. Eliza's father, Adam, was the same but his eyes flickered in anger. "I see my little niece has grown an enormous amount since I last saw her," Adam grabbed my chin and stared at me. With a laugh, he let go. "She's more like you each day." "I didn't expect our daughters to reunite," my father's voice was far from happy as his eyes glanced between Eliza and me. He didn't seem to be aware of the student's gaze on us. My coven and Eliza's coven broke into a sweat as they kept their heads bowed down. "They look like each other." "Father-" Eliza tried but Adam gave her a firm stare.  "Why did the two of you promise peace between enemy covens?" Adam snapped.  "If you think about it, both covens will benefit from each other. In this case, it's a win-win," I swallowed hard. I spoke out of turn but hopefully, my reason convinces both of them. My father placed his hand on my head and I couldn't help but flinch a little.  "You have my blessing," he stated. "It's inevitable for you to have the same wits as your mother." "But," Adam said crossly. "I think a minor punishment is fit in this case. Both of you didn't notify us of any pact." My breath caught in my throat as brother's exchanged glances. Adam raised his palm up and Eliza's lips part as a blue stream flowed out of her. "You'll get your voice back tomorrow." "Mortal for a day," my father said as red energy began flowing out of me. My body felt heavy as the overpowering energy from me was confiscated. It's a minor punishment but the best one either. My eyes are no longer red and I'm more vulnerable to attack. My eyes return to what they once were. Blue.  I lowered my head down as I struggled not to sway. My father tilted my face up and Adam gave a surprised smile. "It's been a while since I saw those eyes." I can't handle this pressure. This stress is picking me apart. As soon as they arrived, they left. The heavy air was lifted but not on Eliza and me. She slumped down in a seat silently, feeling picked apart by the stares.  "Do you have a blood pill?" I ask hoarsely to Jasmine. Her eyes were sad as she saw the tips of my hair turning red and my blue eyes.  She handed me a bottle of water and the pill. I swallowed the pill and felt satisfied. My body was shaking and my head is aching. Being turned into a mortal has no benefits for me. This energy is killing my vibe. I scan the eyes star at me. Somehow, my eyes landed on the Alpha-Females who stared at me awkwardly.  I quickly gathered my books and left the cafeteria. *** Later, during football practice, I sought out Orion. Not to apologize but to explain my words form before. If he saw what happened earlier than I hoped he would understand. But it was difficult with how easily he avoided me. My pride wouldn't let me enter the locker room so I ducked under the bleacher seats and waited until he passed nearby. When he did, I used my mortal strength to haul him back and under the bleachers. Since he still had his wolf strength, I ended up slammed onto the grass with him holding my wrists above my head.  "That hurts," I mutter weakly.  "Emily?" His voice was surprised and I saw him remembering that he slammed me on the ground in my mortal state. "Sorry." He let go and I sat up, rubbing my shoulders with a wince. "I didn't think wolves were that strong." "Why are you here?" he said with a bitter tone. He hasn't forgotten about that minor incident.  "Now you know why I referred to you as a mutt." "Actually, I don't know. You haven't been clear on that part," he growled. "I'm scared of him," I whisper. "I'm scared of my father. He'll never allow this to happen." He frowns at me for a moment. Quickly, he glanced at the field. His coach didn't notice that he was gone yet. "Why are you scared of him? Did he do something to you?" "That doesn't matter but just look at me. He got rid of my immortality. Besides, purebloods only mate with purebloods. My father will want to continue the legacy so when I turn eighteen...suitors will start appearing." Orion didn't look happy. His jaw was clenched and his hands were grabbing fistfuls of grass. "I've been wanting to tell you this but you avoided me the whole week." "Right," he breathed and raked a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry, Emily." I glanced back at the field. "That's all I need to say." I began to crawl out from the bleachers but Orion's hand curled around my ankle and tugged me back. His green eyes bore into mine with such intensity that I looked away. "You can't just tell me that we can never be together and leave." "It's the truth and the truth hurts." "I don't give a damn Emily!" he growled, the vibrations traveling throughout my body. "I will fight for you because I can't stand the fact that you're telling me you're going to mate with someone else." "You and what army," I challenge.  He slammed his lips onto mine with ferocity. They fell in sync as he continued to urge the kiss to go deeper as he slid his tongue in my mouth. I felt his teeth and reveled in the knowledge that this man was making me go crazy. I restrained from making any noise when he gently nipped my bottom lip. When he pulled away, his glass-eyes and swollen lips were hard to miss.  "I only need to gain your love first and the rest I still need to figure out," he panted, catching his breath. When he saw my hesitation, his eyes grew dark. "Or do you mean to tell me that you feel nothing for me." "You-Ugh...I don't feel anything for you." His hands tightened around my waist and I could feel his nails sharply digging in. "Come again? Because your lips didn't say the same thing moments ago." "I think it's best if I reject you," my voice was weak. I feared his reaction because the anger flowed off him in tidal waves.  But all I saw in his eyes was hurt. "Fine." "Orion..." "If that's what you want then fine." But I couldn't bring myself to say the words as he ran back into the field, his expression somber. ***
