{Emily}
"Rebecca, Renee, look at me," I urged heavily. Their eyes were puffy and awfully dull. They were a bit pale and weak. I didn't manage to convince them to eat over these days. Hell, I didn't even manage to convince myself to eat. "You can't tell anybody about what happened. You can say that mom died but not how. Coven members your age have already been told to protect you."
"Do we really have to go back to school?" Rebecca whispered.
"Yes. You have to and I'm going back as well." The teacher was summoning for all students to come inside. Alexander and Alec, two boys my sister's age were waiting for them. They were from out coven and I told them to protect them. "Go on now."
They attend Middle School. They're both eleven but been through too much at such a young age. Their arms crush me as they embrace me tightly before walking inside with Alexander and Alec. I took my car today since I'll have to drop my little ones at school from now on. Acting like your fine is not easy. My father shot my mother with a bullet because she refused to listen to him. My mother was buried that afternoon and that was the end of that.
I have to become my sister's protectors. I pulled up at school with a dreadful expression. My coven doesn't like my father either but they act like everything is fine. Inside, we're all still mourning my mother's death. She was an angel. But we couldn't control our sad expressions. I am fully aware of my sunken eyes and pale skin. I haven't been able to sleep or eat well over the last three days.
My coven was in a depressed state and that was all the students spoke about. We were naturally aggressive but something shifted inside us. I walked into my accounting class as a zombie. Thankfully, Mr. Cervantes didn't make any comments. It might have been because of my 'I don't want to hear your s**t' look.
I slumped into the seat behind Orion. His presence was calming and relaxing. My eyelids felt droopy immediately as I listened to the sound of his breathing. I wasn't sure if I was dreaming but I felt his fingertips run through my hair and brushed over my eyes.
"Miss Le Doux?" Mr. Cervantes startled me and my eyes flew open.
"Yes?"
"You have to remain awake for my class."
"Okay." I'll try.

Lunch rolled around pretty quickly and I found myself on the roof. I rested my head against the heater but Orion's footsteps interrupted me.
"Why are you here?" I hiss.
"Someone has to feed you," he shrugged and placed a sandwich in my lap. I hesitated. It's not the food I hungered over but blood. I hadn't drunk some since my mom last gave it to me.
"I'm not hungry for that."
"Oh." A realization washes over his features and he sits beside me. "Drink mine."
"It's too intimate to drink for someone," I flushed.
"Aren't you already my mate?" He only stated the obvious. He stated what I didn't want to hear. It was true. He's my beloved.
"You asked for it" He pulls me onto his lap and my body buzzes with energy. My breath hit his neck rapidly as his hold on my hips tightened. I sucked on the spot I was going to bite to numb it.
"It's going to feel like a pinch," I explain and he nods. My hunger explodes and my fangs dig in.
He jerks. "Fuck."
I forgot to mention the pleasure you'll feel when your mate drinks your blood. It's like ecstasy. I swallow vigorously his blood tastes sweet like honey. It's smooth as it glides over my tongue and down my throat. I retract my fangs and pull away from his neck when I finish. His eyes were dark and heavy.
"Orion..." I bite my lip.
"Don't do that," he whispers, and his finger pressed against my bottom lip. "It drives me crazy"
I couldn't help but stare at his inviting lips. A lump rises in my throat and it was impossible to swallow as I press my lips against his. A light yelp escapes me as Orion's arms press me tightly against him. I feel the bulge in his jeans prod my inner thigh. He manages to dominate the kiss as he slides his tongue in my mouth. I tug on his bottom lip gently.
"Emily," he groaned.
It was enough to break the spell. This was more than just a simple kiss. I pulled away hurriedly, aware of my fingers that were in Orion's dark hair. His breathing was laboured as he rests his brow on my chest. He was mumbling incoherent words against my shirt.
"Is it insane to say that this feels right yet so wrong?" he asked. His eyes were glassy as he stared at me. I tried to avoid them. This was impossible. Father would never allow it and if he found out that my beloved is a wolf....The outcome won't be good.
"We can't," my voice was harsher than intended and I shoved myself away and scrambled to my feet. "This can never happen."
"Why not?" He was growling now. An agitated wolf was never a good thing. "Emily, I had my doubts in the beginning but I refuse to let you leave."
"You're a mutt and I'm a pureblood," I snapped. "There's a difference."
I regretted my words instantly. Hurt flashed in his eyes. "Is that all you see? Just a mutt?"
"Orion, I-"
"You know what I see? A self-centred pureblood. You're being driven by the hate your coven has for wolves." His eyes were no longer soft but all sharp edges.
"Don't bring my coven into this."
He ignored me and trudged to the roof exit. I rushed to stand in front of him. "Orion, I'm-"
"What? You're sorry?" Fury was laced in his voice. "Your words were as good as a rejection."
"Orion, I'm not rejecting you!" I called out but he already left. I feel like I messed up big time. The world was once again unstable. The stability that Orion offered was gone and I was most likely never going to receive it again. Maybe it was for the better. I don't think Orion could understand the situation with my father.
