2. The twin troubles

There was nothing funny about being made a omega sitter, atleast that's what Evan decides to call himself. He had to leave for Brooklyn in three hours but because his brothers thought it would be funny if he spends more time with his sister in law, the hormonal moody omega he was sitting on the couch in front of her.
"And I had to actually forgive her..." Leah sighed while rubbing her belly again to which he nodded his head because that's what he has been doing for past hour and he was scared that she would consider him rude for not saying anything.
"That's... That's really a kind thing to do" He remarked lamely and immediately clenched his eyes shut. What was he thinking? The stuttering definitely gave him away. He took a deep breath and prepared for the worst from his sister in law.
"Thank you Evan... You're a very good listener" She smiled, with crinkle by her eyes and he could see genuine smile so he just nodded his head instead of just going ahead and admitting that he didn't pay attention to the word she said, instead busy thinking about his hospital and how he should have been back by now.
"Leah..." A voice echoed to which Evan turned around and noticed it was Edward. He released a deep breath at that.
"Baby you should be resting. You've heard what Doctor said." He huffed and then he was walking towards them to which Evan noticed that Leah looked a bit sheepish and tried to stand from the couch she was sitting. Trying to escape maybe.
"But I was bored. And besides Evan is a nice company" She said smiling and then turned to look at him who just gave her a close lipped smile because he had no choice whatsoever.
"Evan, a nice company? That's funny" Edward chuckled and then he was by her side with his hand wrapped around her waist.
Evan glared at his brother and then rolled his eyes, "Not everyone can be mudane like you brother. Its hard to accept it I know" He said in a soft voice knowing very much that it irked Edward whenever he did that.
Edward glared, narrowing his eyes at him and just he was about to say something Evan noticed that Leah held his hand and shook her head, "Be nice babe. He really helped me today."
"She saved you" Edward said while looking at Evan to which he rolled his eyes and then they heard footsteps approach them.
"Hi brother had fun today?" Erik chuckled while walking with what Evan assumed was shopping bags. Since when did his brother go shopping without him? Just then he noticed Ethan emerging out with few more bags and he immediately went towards his mate and kissed her lips and her belly. It was awful how they both were whipped by their omega but Evan wasn't complaining because she clearly changed their lives and made them happy and he was happy for that.
"I hate you" Evan snorted and then he sat back on his place, resting his head against the cushion for a while.
"Aw thanks I love you too." Erik answered and then he handed the bags he was holding to Leah.
"What are all of these?" Leah asked to which Evan raised his head and looked at them as they all sat in front of him and started taking out all the things from the bags.
"On our way back we spotted a baby store and we had to go in. It was a new one and they had all these pretty clothes so we bought them" Ethan explained to which Leah let out a sigh and Evan frowned at that. Why didn't she like them? It should have flattered her because most Alphas don't even bother to do that for their mates but his brothers did.
"I don't like how you all are spending so much for babies and they haven't arrived yet. We already have too much things and no room for them" Leah complained as she picked a toy box but didn't unbox it.
Oh. Evan thought. He thought that it was the first time they did this. He should have known because Erik was so excited after finding out the news that the very next day he went to the baby store in Brooklyn and bought a stroller. His first gift but as Evan had accompanied him and also fought to pay they both gifted it on their name.
"Yeah but we cannot have too many. Don't worry" Edward replied to which Evan wanted to laugh because that was so Edward thing to say. He was never shy of spending cash and even though his wardrobe was full he always used to buy things for himself when they were younger.
"Also... Wait for it" Erik said in a deep voice clutching his bag and Evan was done with his twin's over dramatic tactics to care.
"I present you the best onesie you'll ever see" Erik said and then he pushed the box towards her. Leah giggled at that and accepted from his hand.
"Oh wow it actually says, the best onesie." She said holding the sift pastel colour onesie to which Evan chuckled a bit shaking his head because of course his brother would do that, considering he thought of himself as a comedian most of the times.
"Madam I never disappoint." He smugly said wriggling his eyebrows to which Ethan slapped his arm.
"How hard it is to talk without double meaning words?" Edward piped in before anyone could ask to which Erik sighed, exaggerated one and shrugged.
"It's a skill. Not everyone can posses sadly."
"You are never allowed to speak..." Edward said to which Evan bit back his laugh looking at his twin and before Erik could say something Edward interrupted, "Like ever again."
"You're no fun"
"Gee thanks."
"Will you both stop? Erik we need to leave for Brooklyn. Get your s**t from the room." Evan said having to listen to their annoying sounds. Erik glared at his brother, Edward as he was standing up from his seat.
"This is not over"
"It is" Edward rolled his eyes and then went back to talking with Leah to which Erik grudgingly walked towards the stairs.

"I'm having a terrible headache... Ugh" Erik groaned clutching his head between his palms and tugging at his hair to which Evan looked at him for a second and rolled his eyes. Serves him right for partying last night. He had already asked him to stay back.
"I can tell" Evan dryly remarked and then picked the file from the heap.
"You can show some concern atleast. I'm your twin" Erik huffed and turned to face him to which Evan just gave him a look.
"I already told you partying the day before duty is bad but you can't listen so I can't help. Don't expect anything from me"
"You're the worst" Erik yelled and slumped his head down on the glass desk to which Evan rolled his eyes. He really hoped that his brother wouldn't behave this way with the new doctor. They can't ruin their reputation.
"Thanks I try."
"Anyways pick yourself. We have to meet the new doctor, pedeatrician I think. I've asked Angel to call for her"
"Who?" Erik asked blinking his eyes, which was another effect of his hangover. He should have bought his glasses atleast. It would take the attention off him blinking like a maniac.
"Did you not hear a word I said?" Evan asked as he read the file but shut it down as it was the wrong one. He had asked the file for the new doctor, he wanted to check everything before they meet but apparently it was not there.
"I tend you tune you out when you are being mean"
Evan took a deep breath and turned towards his brother, "Listen I know you are hung over but please behave. This is the new doctor and I don't want you to hit on her or say anything inappropriate. Okay?"
"Oh god I'm not a child. I can be professional. Just because I'm hung over doesn't mean you can dictate me like this." Erik huffed and straightened his coat.
Evan just ignored him and tried to look at the file. After the meeting they had to take rounds of wards and then they had surgery scheduled. It was a busy day.
Just then the whiff of strong jasmine hit him and he clenched his fist. The smell was stronger and he could feel the Alpha inside him growl and threatening to come out. He looked over at his brother and he could see the same thing, their eyes were darker. What was happening?
A knock echoed around the room to which they both looked at each other unsure how to respond but finally Erik cleared his throat and mumbled, "Come in"
As the tiny figure stepped inside they both growled at the same time.
"Mate"
