ALEXIS’SPOV

It wasn’t every day that the moon goddess would visit the omegas while they worked in the garden, so seeing her walking around the garden was very unusual. As if I couldn’t be demoted even lower, I had been moved from working in the palace and to the garden. This hurt me a lot because my main mission in life was to work hard to rebuild my family's reputation. I was now the lowest of the lowest omegas and there was no dignity in that, and the worst part was that the gossip that was going around in the palace was that when an omega was demoted to garden duty it was because he had done something horrible to the queen so everyone wanted to know what I had done.

The unfortunate part was that I also had no idea what I had done to deserve this, my only crime had been to love the queen’s daughter unconditionally, and unfortunately, it seemed like my love for her was the reason for my suffering. Aside from the fact that I had fallen hopelessly in love with Selene, I cannot lie and say I had not recognized that being with her represented me with a chance to rebuild my family's reputation

I could see that the goddess was headed straight for me and that scared me even more. If I had been able to see Selene she would have given me the heads up and possibly warned me that her mother was coming for me. However ever since I had been demoted to garden duty Selene had been out of reach for me, I could only imagine how tough things were for her in the palace.

“Alexis….come walk with me,” the goddess said as she passed by me and if you hadnt heard her voice you wouldn't have thought that she spoke at all because her lips barely moved whenever she spoke to me. I couldn't quite understand why she always seemed to be so disgusted by  me,

“How are you settling with your garden duties?” she asked me and I knew I had to lie because telling her I hated where I had been placed was like telling her she had no wisdom, she took it very personally.

“I am settling in just fine your highness, the flowers offer peace of mind for me,” I said

“That's good, I came to deliver a message for you from my daughter,” she said and I was a little confused as to why Selene would send her mother to deliver a message to me when she was well aware that her mother was not very fond of me

“What is the message, your highness?” I asked her with curiosity

“She told me to tell you that she will not be keeping your baby,” she said and I felt my knees jiggling a little bit, I wasn’t even aware that Selene was pregnant, and yet here I was finding out that she was getting rid of my baby.

“Why would she do that?” I asked the queen and she shrugged

“I believe she has come to realize that family is important than anything, and her duties to this realm are very important,” the goddess said

“I can't allow her to do that, I will have to stop her,” I said and she stopped walking as I did the same

“I am only delivering a message but I will have you know that the baby has already been taken out of her womb. She made the right decision for herself and the entire kingdom” she said “my advice to you will be to just move on with your life and forget about my daughter who by the way has already found her mate” she said

"What do you mean the baby has been taken out of her?" I asked her

"I mean she has already terminated it" she said calmly as if the termination of my baby was nothing big or to cry about.

"She had no right..." I whispered

"You had no right, you had no right to impregnant her" she yelled at me and then took a deep breath "anyway, I really think its best if you just move on and forget her" she added, her words piercing straight through my heart.

“There is no moving on without her,” I said “I love her, she is my everything” I added

“Are you willing to stay with her after she has killed your baby and rejected you?” she asked me

“Sadly yes… your highness,” I said and she studied me for a little while in silence as if she was sympathizing with me and finally realizing that I truly did love her daughter but she quickly snapped out of it.

“Either way, it's a lose-lose situation for you and I have the perfect solution,” she said

“What is that?” I asked her

“I think you should allow me to drop you with the regular wolves down on earth, you will live the life of an alpha even though you are just an omega,” she said

“I can't just leave her, especially if she was just pregnant for me then she will need me and I need to be there for her" I said

“Alexis no matter where you are in this lifetime you will never be with her, the two of you are completely different people and you need to accept that,” she said “now I suggest you allow me to send you down there peaceful else I will have to banish you and that will do your family’s reputation no good,” she said as she opened the portal that was supposed to send me to earth

“Neither will be leaving Selene when she is pregnant and you want me to leave now?” I asked her

“Yes, you have to go now I can't allow you to say goodbye to my daughter and hurt her any further. I will take care of her. You just go ahead and live your life as an alpha” she said as she pushed me into the portal and I knew she had immediately closed it when I was suddenly surrounded by nothing but darkness and I felt like I was falling off a cliff.

SELENE’S POV

I was physically feeling fit but emotionally I was unsettled. I felt like there was something wrong but I just couldn’t put my finger on it. My mother had returned ever since she had left me in the morning but I was expecting her to walk into my room at any moment. I still hadnt seen Adonis which was also a good thing because I was not in the mood for his drama and narcissistic ways.

I missed Alexis and even though he was just working elsewhere, I felt like he was miles away and he just felt far from me. As I was lying in my bed my mother did what she normally did and burst into my room.

“Hellos Selene,” she said

“Hi mum,” I said “I guess you have come to tell me what my future with Alexis looks like,” I said

“I have bad news for you my princess,” she said as she dropped her eyes as if trying to figure out a way to break the news to me

“What happened?” I asked her “Is Alexis Okay?” I asked again and my mind instantly went to Elexis because judging by my mother’s reaction I knew that whatever she had to say to me had something to do with Alexis

“I went to him to tell him about the baby, I did that because I wanted to be sure that it was something he wanted before I made any decisions and I didn’t want you to think I was being unfair. I gave him a few options and he chose to leave the moon realm to go to the earthly realm to live like an alpha” she said and I couldn’t believe her, she had to be lying because I knew that Alexis would never do that to me

“You are lying,” I said as tears started welling up in my eyes

“Honey why would I lie to you?” she asked me “he is gone and I want you to think carefully because I know you know him better than I do, what was the most important thing in Alexis life?” she asked me

“He wanted to restore his family’s dignity,” I said

“And being in the earthly realm as an alpha gives him that opportunity now who do you think Alexis loved the most between you and his family?” she asked e and I found myself confronted with a possibility that I had never dared to consider. Alexis had chosen to leave me alone to raise our baby.

“I will talk to the doctor and he will get started with the termination process,” she said and I gasped

“I don’t want to” I sobbed

“Baby you have to, Alexis left you and he will not be coming back for you because there is no way back,” she said

“It's my baby,” I said

“I know that but having a child with no father will not only bring shame to you but to the entire kingdom, this is the part where you have to grow up and make a decision my princess and if you can't make a decision I am here to help you make it. Look at the bigger picture, Adonis has already forgiven you and he is willing to overlook this little bump” my mother said as she put her hand on my stomach and I felt a stabbing pain going straight through my stomach and right to my back then I started bleeding.

“What did you do?” I asked her in tears

“I made things easier for you, now like I said this is not only about you it's about the entire kingdom, and if you don't stay married to Adonis a lot of lives will be lost. I am sorry that I have had to sacrifice your baby for this but it's better to lose one life than a million” she said as she stood up and walked out and the doctor immediately walked in and started assessing my abdomen without saying a word to me.

I knew something was up with the way my mother was behaving and treating me it just wasn't like her to treat me like this and force things on me. It wasn’t like her to be a dictator and I could only imagine what threat was looming over our kingdom for her to be willing to sacrifice my happiness. Whatever the case was, I knew I had to figure out what exactly had happened with Adonis and find out what made him choose to leave because I didn’t believe my mother’s story at all.

There was no way that Alexis would leave me pregnant just to redeem his family's reputation when that very act was going to strip his family of the little dignity we had left.
