NOELLE's POV:  I was still shaking the entire time I was talking to the cops. They recognized me from the news, and they took the report, told me that they would investigate canvassing the neighborhood to see if anyone got a plate or a make and model of the car. They would call if they figured out who it was, and I nodded right away. I turned and saw Ryan, my breath was still coming out choppy, but when he called himself my boyfriend I almost passed out. Then he kept kissing my forehead and holding me, and I felt so at peace. He walked to the guy that showed up, Avery, and then we were in his truck. He carried out my bags of copies and learning plans and I sat in the car, looking around wondering if another car was going to come back and shoot again. Once Ryan got in and started driving I calmed down a bit, my breathing came easier, and I tried to focus on seeing the few cars going around for a bit and when we stopped a block away from school and into a small parking lot behind a building I didn't know I waited to see what he was doing. He looked back when he realized I wasn't getting out and he waved me to follow. I pushed the door open quickly and made sure it shut hard before I walked with him towards the front of the building. It was a small coffee shop and as we walked in, I heard someone shout they would be right there. I looked over the menu and saw some goodies as well and I investigated the little snack and dessert section to see what was fresh. "Ms. Rolland!" I looked up and around when I heard an awfully familiar voice and I saw Cami. She smiled wide and looked back into the kitchen and waved at me. I waved back and Ryan cleared his throat. "Uncle Ry!" She seemed more excited to see him and I watched her take off into the back and then I heard another door open when she was out of sight for a second. She ran around from the back and right to him. Ryan hefted her up as if she were a mere toddler and held her to his chest like she was light. But then he had kind of done the same to me just a little while ago when I was crying on my kitchen floor. "What are you doing here with my teacher?" She asked him and looked at me and waved again. "Well... she got into an accident and I am driving her around until she gets a new car." "Did you bring the truck?" Cami's eyes went wide, and he nodded. "I love the truck! We go camping and fishing in it during the summer sometimes! And when it starts getting cold out and Christmas comes around, he takes me to pick out his tree for his house, and then I get to do it all over again when my dad takes me." She told me and I just nodded along with it and she started to say what else she got to do with her 'uncle' Ryan. "Hey." I looked over at the new voice and saw Jackie, the girlfriend standing behind the counter. "What can I get you guys?" "She left her to go cup at her house so two plain coffees?" Ryan asked and looked over at me. That would be fine, a little cheaper than what I was thinking about getting. "Are you sure?" Jackie asked like she saw that I wasn't 100 percent sure that was what I wanted. "Can I actually try the butterscotch iced coffee?" I asked and she nodded right away before looking to Ryan. She smirked like she knew something and then turned before letting me pay and I just waited so I could pay. I had everything from my debit card to my credit cards on my phone, so it was easy to do if the shop, like this one, had the updated card readers. I didn't know that Jackie was a business owner but when I took the iced coffee and took the first sip I was in heaven. It was delicious. "How much?" I asked when she didn't seem to start ringing me up. "I don't usually charge Ryan... and you are Cami’s favorite person, so I won't charge you either." She waved it off and I felt myself melt since she wasn't the first person to say that about Cami. "If I knew this place is open so early and it was owned by you, I would have started coming in here after we had that parent teacher conference." I told her, wishing I had brought my purse in so I could at least leave a tip, but I had left it in the truck with all the papers. "Don't worry about it. Most of the MC comes in here and they don't pay, and only leave tips that I give to my workers." She told me and I bit my lip. "If I can get Ryan to bring me in here every morning, I will start buying breakfast too." I felt Ryan come closer and he looked at my drink and made a slight face. "What?" "So much sugar in the morning." "I have to be peppy for class. You try being half tired with 32 versions of Cami." My class was over filled, but I didn't mind. I loved teaching, and girls like Cami made it worth teaching every year. I didn't really need the money that every teacher gets. I still had millions saved. The house was paid off, my car had been paid off, and now I had to find time to get a new one between Ryan's schedule and mine. Maybe a weekend coming up if he wasn't busy. We stayed until it was time for me to go to school, and Cami started begging to go with us, so Jackie didn't have to leave the Café as three people came in when we said our goodbyes. "It would help if you would Ry." Jackie said just before taking the first order and I took my large coffee and waited for Ryan to make up his mind. It didn't really take long. We were collecting Cami and her backpack before Jackie even moved on to make the coffee. She ran into the back quickly; gave Jackie and hug and kiss and said she would see her after school, and she jogged around to walk with us out the front door. She got in the middle of me and Ryan for the half black away to school and he walked me to the room I was in, and I could see that he was trying to remember as he looked around the walls, and I was sure that he had never been here before so I repeated my room number as I opened my door up and made sure I used the bungee cord to keep it open. I went and made sure that the papers and things were all set up in order before going to put out the first couple of papers on the front desks so they could pass it back. There was a vocab quiz today so Friday before I left, I made sure that all the desks were in lines and not the usual groups. Cami had taken Ryan around the room, showed him the projects, the writings, and STAR vocab tests, of which she had almost all of them up there. It was just a list of their names and if they got an A on the test, they got stars next to their names. Out of the 7 we have had this entire school year; Cami had gotten 5 A's and 2 B's. She was smart, and thoughtful and she was a giant chatter box. But Ryan seemed to be keeping up and listening like he cared, which I could tell that he did. It wasn't an act that I see some parents putting on when they come in. When the first bell rang Ryan looked up and around before looking right to me. "Time for you to go." I told him and he seemed hesitant, but I knew he had things to do today, and he did not have permission to be in school, let alone a class of someone he had no blood relation to. The school district had been harping on who could watch a class and if it wasn't a parent or specialist evaluating a student they needed to be fingerprinted and have a trustline and background check. "Alright... I will see you later kid... and you? What time should I be outside?" He asked and I bit my lip. "Maybe 4:30?" I asked and he nodded like it was a done deal, no questions asked. Most people didn't know that as teachers we were required for a lot of after school meetings, district meetings, PTA meetings, basically if it was done in the school we needed to be there. Sometimes I would be lucky to get home before 7pm. "Ok, see you then. We will then go and pack up your house so you can go to the compound." "You get to go to the compound tonight?" I heard Cami's excited voice and I shifted my eyes from her to Ryan before nodding. "I love when I get to spend the night. It doesn't happen a lot anymore before Jackie watches me if Daddy needs to be at the meetings... but they have karaoke and the guys helped me learn how to dance and they're all so nice and Uncle Ryan is in charge so they do whatever he tells them." She looked from me, and then up at Ryan and he laughed lightly before he winked at her and then looked at me. "You be good today. If you're bad I will hear about it." Ryan pointed at her as he moved to leave. His MC club emblem on the back of his jacket was the last thing I saw as he walked out, and I had to wonder what it would be like at the compound tonight. Would being a teacher to 32 kids be easier or harder than dealing with a bunch of men?
