Ryan's POV: I got her up into her bed, making sure that her feet were covered, and her feet were separated so there wasn't more damage to her ankle. I went back down, knowing I could not go and lay down in her bed with her. No matter how much my body was telling me how great it would feel to feel her against me. I got the popcorn put away, the last bowl cleaned, and I went to fix up the blankets and stuff on the couch before going right for the laundry. I saw how she laid everything flat and how many hangers were right above everything, so I went to pull everything out, making sure it wasn't wrinkled and put them up and separated. I didn't get why she did this, but I'm sure it had something to do with how it looked when she put it on. I got her delicates out of the washer and tossed them into the dryer before finding a way to dry them with no heat, so they didn't get damaged. I had to look up how to dry those things to make sure I didn't f**k them up. I didn't want her worrying about them. I put them in and went to check my phone. I had asked who wasn't working tomorrow and who would want the day off from the clubs or the shop and when Avery offered, I knew he was just the man to protect Noelle. He was an ex-marine, and still a patch but he had more experience than most of the guys who did respond. I told him where to meet me and when to come. He agreed and that was the end of the night for me. I went right into the living room, kept the TV off as I tried to fit on her couch laying down with the small throw pillow under my head and the blanket to keep me warm. I fell asleep and didn't think about just how early it was. I kept my ears open so I would hear if someone tried to break in and I had my alarm on incase I slept in. I slept enough, but when I heard a far-off alarm, I opened my eyes and sat up to see the time. It was 5:45. I heard Noelle up and about, so I went to see her coffee maker. I didn't do it before I went to sleep so I filled up the water tank, found the grounds, and poured enough so it would be a pot of strong coffee. After about 20 minutes she came down, dressed in a pencil skirt, a deep blue button up and carrying some flats. Her hair was up and damp, but she seemed more relaxed. "I made coffee." I told her when she seemed to head to the door to set the flats down. "I can smell. Thank you." She smiled and moved to get her own cup. She added a s**t ton of sugar and then went for creamer. I watched her as I sat down, and she got a couple eggs out before she even started to drink her coffee. She turned and smiled before she scrambled the eggs and got a pan out. I watched and before the eggs were done, she finally took her first sip. She set a plate in front of me and went to sit beside me. It was a nice touch, but I usually didn't eat breakfast. But not wanting her to waste any food I dug in and had to admit while there was no flavor they were cooked perfectly. She downed her coffee and set everything in the sink before going to get a travel mug and putting the same number of things in there before turning to me and topping off my coffee. "I'm going to go brush my teeth, do you need a toothbrush?" She asked and I nodded. She walked as fast as she could, and I sat there and finished my coffee before getting the dishes clean. I set out a towel for them to dry on since I hadn't had the chance to put the others away and I went to wait for her at the bottom of the stairs. She came back down with a small package of toothbrushes and I grabbed one and she handed over her toothpaste. I went into the little half bath and brushed my teeth, pushing my hair back from my eyes. By the time 6:30 rolled around she had things all set up to go, but she didn't have a car, so I knew that I would have to drive her to work since Avery didn't have a car and only was using a one person bike. But as soon as I was sure we were ready to go she went back upstairs, and I had to go and see about Avery coming in and meeting her. I went out when I heard a bike and I knew she was still upstairs. I nodded to him as he pulled into her empty driveway and he took his helmet off. "How is your morning?" He asked like he knew I still wasn't awake enough. "Early. She's upstairs doing something. I will have to take her to the school since she has all this shit." I started to tell him the plan and after about a minute his focus was somewhere else and when I looked I felt his hands around me, pulling me down to the ground just as gunfire erupted from the car that rolled right up to her house. The spray of bullets was contained to only her house and not the driveway, so Avery kept me down and stopped me from getting up until the f*****g car was taking off down the street. I pushed him off me, my heart wasn't beating as I got to the front door.  The entire outside of her house looked like it was been used for target practice for moving targets. There wasn't a single section that was missed, and I pushed the door open and moved in making sure that she wasn't laying anywhere. "Noelle?" I shouted and looked around the laundry room and then the living room. I took the stairs two at a time and didn't see her anywhere. "Noelle!" I got back down and looked around making sure that I didn't miss her before hearing her crying. I walked into the kitchen and saw her in a little ball near the end of the counter. "Oh baby." I grabbed her, moving her arms up and out to make sure that she wasn't hit anywhere. "You're okay." I grabbed her, pulled her right against me. I took deep breaths as I moved us to lean against the fridge. "Ryan?"  She tensed up and started to cry harder and I shushed her and kissed the top of her head.  "That's just Avery. He's with me. He's going to take care of you today while you're at school." I rubbed her back, not wanting to let her go anymore. But with the way her house was shot up, she would have to be somewhere else while I got some f*****g answers about who did it. "Ryan?" Avery called again as I heard his feet crunching glass and probably a whole lot of wood and sheetrock. "In the kitchen. Grab the flats near the door." I still had my boots on, so I wasn't worried about me. I sat up and got Noelle on the counter before looking over her legs and feet since they were exposed. I heard Avery coming so I nodded to her when she looked up at me. She had a s**t ton of makeup on now, and it was all smeared by her crying. "Here you go." He handed them over, his voice soft when he saw Noelle and he gave her a smile. "I'm Avery." "Noelle." She whispered back and he nodded. "I'm guessing you want some makeup, right?" He gestured to his face and she looked like she was panicking, and I glared at him before nodding. "All upstairs?" "Yeah, in my bathroom." I had just gotten her flats on when she moved to stand back up, but I held her tight. "Go make the sure the stairs are ok." I told him and he nodded. He was a good guy, and not subtle enough to just give her the makeup to fix her face. "That was them... the cartel or the other club..." She said looking up at me and I nodded slowly. "Is that all they're going to do?" "No... they're trying to kill you." I told her, and I hated how her breath hitched and I wanted to take away the worry from her, but I knew that I couldn't lie. "My house... is it bad?" I nodded slowly and she took a deep breath. "I know someone who does contract work, he will come over and fix everything." I told her and she started to take deep breath after deep breath. Avery came down with a medium sized box and set it on the counter. "What's that?" "My makeup." She reached for it and I saw her hands shaking and Avery cleared his throat. "I can clean up some of the glass I if you tell me where the broom is." We all paused when we heard sirens and Avery looked at me and nodded slowly before looking to Noelle for an answer. He would handle the cops while she fixed herself up a bit and they would take a statement. "I have a vacuum that goes on its own. Just hit the button on top." She pointed at the far corner where the TV sat, and Avery moved quickly. She scooted to the edge of the counter and I had her in my arms before she could put her toes to the ground. I kept her tight against me, she grabbed her makeup box and I took her to the one in the back of the house so she could fix her face. "Oh, this is bad." She sighed as she saw herself and I watched her wipe everything off before going right in with everything from the box. There was like 4 different liquids she used, and then she added 3 different powders and then she went into her eye with a pen and I just watched her, a little fascinated.  "Done?" I asked, not sure when she started to put everything away in the box. "Almost." She grabbed a little bottle, and it looked like a spray bottle, and I just watched her face as she sprayed herself. "Now I am." She said and waved her hand around to dry everything. I grabbed her hand and set the makeup box on the couch before seeing her things she was taking to work. One bag had been hit and was tipped over and she went over and looked through it. "I can take about half of this to work." She sighed and I walked over and rubbed her one good shoulder before putting my other arm around her waist. "You're coming to the compound tonight." I told her and she looked up and over at me like she didn't get it, but I kissed her temple and she relaxed a bit, "It's where I know you will be completely safe." "Ok. So, I will come back here after school and -" "Nope." I cut her off and moved to the laundry room as a cop came through the door asking who I was and who she was. He had a notepad and not a gun, so it was good to know Avery had some pull when talking to them about what happened. "I'm the boyfriend, and she's the owner." I nodded to Noelle and she stood there, stunned a bit and I went to get the laundry all out and onto the skirts and pants she had laid out last night so all I would have to do it take the basket to the compound when I came back for that, the makeup, another pair of shoes, and probably something she slept in. I tucked all the panties in the middle, making sure no one saw those but me. I came out and saw that she was looking at her little watch and telling the cops that she had to go to work, and she told them where they could find her, her phone number and when she would be available for a phone call. She came closer to me and I saw the cops finish up with his report before nodding to me as well. He walked out, and I pulled her to stand in front of me. "Go get in the truck, I will get everything in the bags into the back." I saw her nod and I saw the question in her eyes, but I wanted her to feel safe before we talked about anything else. She left and I grabbed the bags before following her out. Avery was on his bike, the two cops who showed up were already gone and I just looked back at the house. It looked like swiss cheese, and the thought that Noelle could also look like that had my blood heating. She wasn't going to be hurt, and if she did, I better already be dead.
