DEMI
Kaleb and I spent most of the day out in the snow. I can’t believe how much fun it was.
We made a snowman and made snow angels. My two favorite things to do when in the snow and snowboarding, which was out of the question today as there were no snowboards around and we were on a flat surface for miles.
I knew we didn’t want to leave the house, even though we could probably have gone to locate my car, but there was no use as we knew we wouldn’t be able to move it.
We decided to let Lia and Shadow meet, which was exciting. It was nice, but it did come to the point where I had to block the whole thing out as they went from playing and chasing each other to mating. There is something wrong with watching your wolf mate with her mate, especially when Lia becomes a dirty little slut.
I could hear Lia sneer in my head, which made me look at her.
Her eyes bore into mine, but something about her made me smile, she was happy, which I loved seeing, and I couldn’t help but smile.
Lia looked happy. We both agreed that we would give Kaleb a chance; ever since we were snowed in together, he has been the perfect mate. I know Lia wants to mark Shadow and Kaleb, and I have to admit, so do I, and I might even do it tonight, as we don’t know how long we will be stuck here.
I couldn’t help but watch Kaleb.
Kaleb was placing the last of the firewood into the house. As he came back outside, I picked up some snow and rounded it off; when Kaleb wasn’t looking, I threw it at him, which hit him directly in the face.
Kaleb shook off the snow and stared at me in surprise, which only made me laugh.
Kaleb used his speed and pinned me to the nearby tree, trapping me between him and the tree. His scent engulfed me and sent tingles everywhere along my body.
My core was being a w***e again, but I tried to mask it as I looked up at him and smiled.
Kaleb grinned and leaned into the crook of my neck.
“You’ll pay for that,” he murmured, kissing my neck. “You smell delicious, sweetheart.”
I shuddered as the cold air came, but couldn’t help the slight moan that escaped my lips.
Kaleb moved up and looked back at me with a knowing look. He knew I was turned on.
“I think we should get you inside,” he said, kissing my lips. “I think I need to warm you up and give you a punishment for that snowball you threw.”
I smirked but kissed his lips.
Kaleb moved and placed his hand in mine, pulling me from the tree. I followed him toward the house’s front door, but a branch snapped, which made us both look in that direction.
A faint smell came toward us, making Lia stand in my head and growl as I took in the sight before me.
There stood three wolves. The scents that rolled over them were rotten to the core, and we knew instantly what they were.
Rogues.
Kaleb growled, pulling me behind him and blocking me from their sight as they stepped out of the forest. His hand was in mine.
“Well, what do we have here?” one shouted, “a beta and a she-wolf whore.”
Kaleb growled.
I looked around Kaleb and noticed the man sneer as he stared, but his eyes locked onto mine.
“Have to admit, she is one fine little lass,” he grunted.
I growled.
Kaleb’s hand tightened my hand.
“Back off,” Kaleb growled.
I looked up at him. His eyes were flickering from his to Shadows.
I knew they were itching for a fight, and so were Lia and me. We wanted their heads.
“I don’t think so,” the other growled.
“It seems we are killing the Beta,” the third said smugly, “I hope you guys don’t mind sharing his little whore.”
Lia growled.
I couldn’t help but feel sick to my stomach.
The three wolves moved closer, making Kaleb step back and push me toward the door. I was honored that he wanted to protect me, but I could look after myself.
Kaleb looked over his shoulder, which made me look up at him as he was just about to speak.
“Get in the house,” he whispered.
I stared at him.
He wanted me to let him fight these pricks alone; he had another thing coming.
I growled as his eyes bore into his, as he realized I growled at him.
“There is no time to…” he started to say, but the three rogues took that as an opportunity to strike us, and I pushed Kaleb out of the way as I jumped and let Lia take over. We landed on the third wolf and bit down on its shoulder. He let out a loud howl as he tried to shake us off, but Lia bit down harder on his shoulder, causing more pain.
The wolf stumbled forward as we let go, but he turned around as Lia stuck again, but this time she latched onto his throat and ripped it out.
We watched as the wolf landed on the ground with a thud.
We looked up as Lia let me take over and shift back.
I watched as Kaleb and Shadow fought with the two other wolves. I caught him launching the one who spoke first into a tree and attacking the other. The second was more challenging than the one I fought, but Kaleb managed to kill him.
I was about to celebrate when something shiny caught my eye, and I glanced over to the other wolf, who was now bearing his teeth at Kaleb and Shadow.
The third wolf shifted back into his human form and threw a silver blade at Kaleb.
I used my speed and tried to knock the knife out of the way, but it hit me right in the shoulder. Kaleb turned around. His eyes landed on me and widened when he saw the knife sticking out of my shoulder.
The pain radiated through me as Lia howled. “Silver,” she murmured, “wolfsbane,” was the last word I heard as I fell to the ground, and the other wolf stared, smiling.
I hit the ground hard and could feel my eyes get heavy, but I tried to stay awake as long as I could, but the pain was excruciating.
I heard a loud growl and knew that Shadow had taken over Kaleb.
The sounds that came from Shadow launching at the wolf. I don’t think the wolf knew what hit him, as the sounds I heard were startling, blood and flesh being ripped apart. I knew the wolf was dead when a loud whine and snap followed.
I heard noises coming to the side, like someone was shifting back.
I felt my eyes get heavier as I heard footsteps come straight for me. I felt arms wrap around me and lift me.
I knew it was Kaleb as tingles from our mate bond rocketed through me.
“Please wake up, Demi,” he murmured, close to my ear as my eyes fluttered shut.
“Come back to me, sweetheart,” I heard; the pain in his voice made my heart ache for him.
I tried to open my eyes, but there was no use.
I was sent into the darkness as the pain took over me.
I had no clue where I was, only that I was alone.
