Chapter 14: Dragon’s Power part 1

2075 Words
(Mia’s POV) I don’t know how much time has gone by since we were placed in this cell. Without a window to see the sun go up and down, it felt like we were here for months. My body was burning up and I could feel a fog start in the back of my mind. As odd as it was, whenever Ghari was near me or touching me, I felt better. I wanted to ask him to stay by me or hold me but I felt that it was too awkward.  He was currently sitting near the door. He sat on the ground with his legs bent and crossed. His face made many expressions even though his eyes were closed. His breathing was even and it almost sounded like he was sleeping. I couldn’t help but take in all his features. I don’t know much about males other than Ciel and a few of the guys at the show but this male was definitely blessed by the gods. He was what Mora and Malise often referred to as perfection. It was like the gods chiseled him out of their clay. He had a strong jaw. Muscular arms and chest. His waist came to his hips in a way that I wanted to know if I could fit in there and his legs were long, muscular, and strong. My mind wondered what he looked like without clothes on. “Did no one ever tell you it’s rude to stare at another?”, his velvety voice invaded my thoughts.  I quickly lowered my eyes to the ground and fidgeted with the hem of the cloak. I did not respond. He must’ve gotten up and walked over to me to reprimand me because shortly after I didn’t respond, I heard his steps. However, he did not reprimand me.  “In your case though, I’ll let it slide.”, he said as he sat in front of me and reached for my chin. Lifting it up so that I could look at him. “Don’t feel ashamed. I know you like what you see.”, he said with a chuckle. I tried to look away again but he wouldn’t let me. I know my cheeks have to be red and I just wanted to hide. I looked into his dark opal eyes and couldn’t help but fall deep into them. It was like looking at a starless night sky but they sparked gold and silver whenever he smiled or chuckled.  “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. Could you let go of me, now?”, I managed out in a whisper. He let go, “It’s ok Mia. Are you feeling better? I know I can’t conjure up anything but are you hungry or thirsty?” As if called forward my belly let out a sound that made me curl up and turn even redder than I already was. I can’t believe it did that. I wasn’t even hungry until he mentioned it. What is he going to think of me now? The thunderous laughter that escaped his mouth took me completely by surprise and had me laughing right along with him. His belly then responded and we both couldn’t hold back our tears of laughter. Once we regained our composure, he spoke softly, “I’m sorry I don’t have even a sliver of bread on me to share with you.” I waved him off. “Don’t worry about me. This isn’t the first time I’ve been without food or drink for days.”, I blurted out without even thinking about what I just let out. He bit his lower lip in anger and my inner core moistened at the jester. I quickly stood and went to the door. “Maybe we should try talking to your friend. Maybe he’s heard from the captors.” I changed the subject so that he wouldn’t pry further. I should’ve kept my mouth shut. He did not respond right away but he too stood and walked to the door.  “I have a different idea. I’m going to try and mind-call my brother. I think he might be outside of this place and be able to help us.”, he said sitting back on the ground. I followed and was grateful he didn’t ask anything about my earlier statement. He sat in the same manner as when I was staring at him but this time he left his eyes open. They clouded over and I recognized it as the look one gets when talking through the mind.  I was never really fond of that way of communicating. It wasn’t long before his eyes were normal black again. I had gotten close to him while he was communicating and now my face was very close to his.  “Mia?” His lips were so inviting, “Yes Ghari?” “Could you maybe move back a bit” OH, MY GODDESSES!!! WHY WAS I SO CLOSE TO HIM! I quickly backed away and slammed myself into the stone wall. I let out a yelp but I didn’t harm myself too badly. At least physically because inside I wanted nothing but to die from embarrassment. “Oh, gods! Are you okay? I didn’t mean to startle you.”, he apologized as he rubbed the back of my head. I flinched a bit from his touch but it was more from the sparks it caused than pain.  “It’s okay. No worries. I shouldn’t have been so on top of you. I guess I was just curious about you and didn’t realize I had moved so up close to your face.” “Are you sure you’re okay?” “Yes, I’m fine. Were you able to reach your brother?”, I quickly changed the subject again and he stopped rubbing my head. I felt sad that I lost his touch but it was for the best. “Oh, Yes. He is unharmed and is outside in the forest nearby. He says we are in the underground dungeon of a cabin. The information he gave me was disheartening and we must find a way out.” I sprung to my feet and began making lots of noise. He caught on to what I was planning and joined in. In no time his friend caught on and joined us as well. I hope this helps.  (Ghari’s POV) I could sense and feel Mia staring at me, although I had my eyes closed. It was so intense, it was like she was committing all parts of me to memory. I honestly loved it. Let her take it all in.   I had been trying to reach Cahir or Mitchell but was not getting through. I pictured her golden-red eyes looking into my soul and touching my body. I need to stop these thoughts. A good thing Thor was in deep sleep, otherwise he would want to claim her. I opened my eyes slowly and found she was right in front of me. Our lips were inches from each other and I really wanted to kiss her. Her eyes were on my lips so she didn’t notice when I reached up to her cheek and touched it lightly. Her skin was soft and perfect. The sparks went off in my hand and went straight to my inner core. I knew then without a doubt, she is my forever but how and what do I do with this knowledge. We need to get out of here.  I spoke up then, “Did no one ever tell you it’s rude to stare at another?” She backed away and sat towards the other side of the cell. She didn’t respond. She just looked down and played with the hem of the cloak. Her cheeks had turned crimson red and made her look so beautiful. Her dark skin made the red appear darker and deeper. I just want to kiss and hold her so badly, but I held back. Thor stirs in me and I know if he was awake he would not have allowed her to be so far from us.  I stand and go to her, “For you, I’ll let it slide.” I sit in front of her again and I lift her chin up to me.  “I’m sorry, Ghari”, she says in a whisper. “No need to apologize, sweetheart. It’s like I said for you it's okay.” Her eyes were glowing and flecks of purple were trying to come through. I think her dragon was trying to come through and engage with me and Thor. I tapped into Thor’s site again and could see her aura was also glowing purple. It was soothing to watch it surround her like a flow of water. Without a doubt she was a high-ranking dragon but who was she. Who was her family? Where was she from? How come she didn’t know of this? She stared back at my eyes for a brief moment then looked away. I wanted to hold her in place but I let go. “Are you feeling okay? I don’t have anything to offer but are you hungry or thirsty.?” As if summoned our stomachs both rumbled loudly and echoed in the cell like thunder. This made both of us laugh uncontrollably. We fought hard to gain our composure and breathe. When we finally did, our sides hurt and we forgot all about hunger.   She walked over to the door and suggested we try making noise again but I had a different idea. “I think I’ll reach out to my brother again” She agreed and we sat on the ground. This time I kept my eyes open.  “Cahir! Cahir!” “Ghari! It’s me. I’m here!” “Oh, Thank the Lords and Ladies of the Heavens” “I’m sorry to have worried you, my brother. Mitchell and I were inside his invisible cloak spell and could not be contacted. We are safe. How are you and Kerwyn?” “We are safe for the time being. Can you give me any information on what’s going on?” I could feel Mia getting close to my face again but I didn’t want to break the mind-call just yet.  “I don’t know the whole picture but I can tell you that we followed Ciel, the warlock. He entered a cabin and there we saw Alincdor and our father’s magic advisor Tre. There’s a torture room upstairs and an underground dungeon. That’s where you are being held. We were about to free you when Alincdor came down the stairwell and unfortunately, he heard your conversation with Kerwyn..” “s**t! s**t! f**k! Do you mean to tell me he knows who we are now?! Are you coming to get us out of here?!” “We sent a raven to our father. We are awaiting his arrival with the royal army. Ghari there’s more to tell you.” More, how much more could he have to tell me. This whole investigation is getting more and more complicated. My connection was failing. Mia must be on top of us causing Thor to awaken. He’s growling in my head and it’s making it hard to concentrate on the mind-call. “Cahir, I have to go now. I will mind-call you when I’m ready to set your plan into motion.” My vision returned to Mia. Her eyes were fixated on my lips again. I reached up and touched her cheek again. This time sparks flew, shocking even me. This time she backed up but she backed into the stone wall and bumped her head. “I’m sorry I startled you.”, I say as I rub the back of her head. “Don’t be, I shouldn’t have been so up close to you. Were you able to reach your brother this time?” “Yes, and what he had to say was not good.” Her face reflected mine. At least I could guess it did because what Cahir had shared with me could change the course of our lives forever. She stood up and started making loud noises. I joined her shortly thereafter and Ker heard us and joined in too.  Not sure if this plan was going to work but something needed to be done.
