Prologue
(unknown POV)
The Kingdom of Dragonia was in a state of celebration. Our king and queen finally had an heir. She was the most beautiful and perfect dragon to ever be born. It was said she would be the strongest and most powerful as well.
Aziel looked on with disgust and couldn’t bring himself to go to the celebration. He had been banished from the castle the night before and was to be sent to the underworld as punishment for trying to kidnap the queen. He had trusted Ariel, the queen's lady in waiting, his mate. The one that should've stood by him no matter what happened. Instead, she had informed the king and queen of his plans to kidnap the queen and kill the unborn dragon she carried. He thought back to how Ariel used his love for her to capture him.
"Oh, Aziel, again, again." Ariel moaned as Aziel licked his lips after coming up from devouring her inner core.
"I can continue if you'd like to, but I know the Queen is expecting you."
"My love, I would like you to continue but if Queen Ulani finds that I'm gone too long she might think something is wrong. The pregnancy has made her paranoid."
With much on my mind and this gorgeous dragon under me, I decided to make her part of my plan. I should've been king instead of Bryeficent and his child should not have been a thing but the Dragon Lords in the heavens made this so and I need to put an end to it.
I looked down at my lover and asked if she would be my queen. Her sparkling pearl eyes looked up at me and smiled. A smile that would make any male dragon scream and possess her for eternity.
"Yes!!!!" she said as she threw her arms around my neck and passionately kissed me. We remained in the kiss till our lungs no longer could supply us with air.
"Ariel, I need you to do something for me though, before we finish our mating and make this forever."
"What would you like of me, my love," she said with a whisper of lust lingering in her voice.
"I need you to bring Queen Ulani to the lake."
"Why?" she asked as she sat up in bed and stared at me with worry etched into her fine features.
"You know that I should be the King of Dragonia but because the Heavens intervened some centuries ago, Brye was chosen instead. I need to rid Dragonia of them and take the throne. I want you to help me and be my queen. Together we can be the most powerful and rule all the kingdoms."
She starred into my eyes and nodded her head yes. We dressed and she went to the queen's chambers so as to put our plan into motion. Little did I know she was actually planning against me and when the queen arrived at the lake, the dragon that was deceived was me.
His thoughts turned to anger at how he had lost his mate that day and his throne. He had disposed of Ariel, in the best way he could. He rejected her and then made sure her life essence was forever trapped in the hells of the underworld. He was still fuming at the thought of knowing the queen was able to give birth to this child. He knew he needed to do something. The banishment was given as a lighter sentence since he was Ariel's mate but if they ever knew what happened to Ariel, he was sure to see death.
King Byreficent and Queen Ulani were watching over the celebration and smiled at each other. Happy and content that the Dragon Lords had blessed them. After many years of trying they finally had their daughter. Sweet Princess Mia. King Byre was hopeful that one day he would get to see her take the throne and rule all of Dragonia and the surrounding kingdoms The dragons had become low in numbers after years of war with the humans and demons but peace had come and Mia would bring all of Draconia together again.
Draconia was a large continent made up of Dragon’s Garden in the center as the capital and neutral land. No one king or queen ruled there. The council was in charge and ensured all who lived there were safe and cared for. It was probably the only place that allowed all creatures to reside without problems.
The Kingdom of Dragonia was to the north, King Byreficent and Queen Ulani, ruled here. It was the largest kingdom on Draconia and even though the council helped rule from the Garden, the north was head of the council. The northern kingdom held the most dragons and even though all magical creatures and humans resided within its borders, dragons ruled heavily. It was once thought that if the north decided to create another war they could in fact take over all of Draconia.
The East Kingdom of Dragonia, or The East as the locals claimed, was also a dragon kingdom but ruled by its own king and queen. They should've been part of the northern kingdom but after the war that divided the dragon's loyalty, it was said that the heavens created the east to maintain peace.
The Earth Kingdom was to the west. It was once ruled by the elves and dwarves. It is unknown what happened to the rulers after the humans started the Great War but the Royal guards kept them in check for the most part. The humans lived mostly there due to its good climate and fertile land. They did allow other creatures to live there but could be very hostile to the giants and ogres.
The Great Sea Kingdom was to the south. These lands were mostly made up of islands and its people were mostly mermen and mermaids. Sirenes and other water creatures also called the south their home. Very little is known of the south and who rules them but the merpeople on the council assured us that peace would continue.
The underworld and the heavens also tended to keep out of our lives but they would intervene when they saw fit. The heavens housed all Lords and Ladies, Gods and Goddesses. The underworld housed all wicked Lords and Ladies, Gods and Goddesses. The vampires, witches, and demons ruled there which always seemed to be in chaos. The kingdoms and the heavens did their best not to get involved because it usually led to some type of war.
“Byre?” said Queen Lani, bringing him out of his thoughts and he smiled shyly at her.
“What were you thinking about, hun?”
“Our daughter and how perfect she is, just like her mother.”, he said, hugging her and looking down at the beautiful child in her arms.
Little did he know that this night would be the last time he would gaze upon his daughter.
Night came and the castle fell into a deep sleep. Not a sound nor a movement could be heard. Aziel had sought out the darkest witch from the underworld and forced her to work for him. After losing his mate and throne, he was determined to overthrow the king of Hell and take over. She was the king's mate and he threatened to cast her into the fires of Gehenna if she didn't help. She cast a very strong sleeping spell on the castle guards, its people, king, and queen. Some were given peaceful dreams, while others, at the discretion of Aziel, were given nightmares. Aziel then put his full plan into motion.
He knew where the nursery was and quickly ascended the many stairs. He reached the top floor of the castle, where the royal family lived, it had just four rooms. His highness's chambers, his study, the queen's study, and the nursery. He grabbed the sleeping child and handed her to the witch. He then gave her instructions and she left hastily never looking back.
He then went to the chambers of the king and queen and had his minions restrain them. They were placed in a spell-bound cage and sent to a location far from the kingdom. Satisfied with his work, he left the castle as it was.
