Upon seeing that the wolf was no longer in the establishment, I approached Rebecca's room. I felt a sense of panic creeping in. I knew that this could happen by defying a very important wolf law: "Do not interfere in a mate's relationship." That's exactly what I was doing by not revealing her whereabouts. I also needed to be more discreet and find a way to get her out of there. As I entered the room, she was fast asleep, so I made sure not to make any noise and sat down on a nearby chair. "Tic...toc, the Alpha is coming for you." It was like a horror movie soundtrack playing in my mind. I knew he would do whatever it took to find her, and I knew that, unfortunately, my mate might also be involved. But it was something I couldn't allow. I wasn't going to suffer again; I promised myself that when I ran away. My phone vibrated, notifying me of a message from Rose, giving me the green light to take her with us. However, she warned that if the wolves interfered, the deal between her and me would go down the drain. I left the room and headed to the medical staff quarters, where I saw Amelia and a couple of colleagues sleeping in their chairs. I grabbed a change of clothes and walked over to Amelia, gently shaking her shoulder. "Ugh... Just a little more," she mumbled. "Wake up," I whispered, and she stirred, opening one eye. "What is it, Vic?" she asked. "I need a favor. Follow me," she protested, but a pillow silenced her. "Shut up, Dr. Price," a pediatrician murmured. We left the room while she fixed her hair. "What's going on, Vic? It's three in the morning," she said. "I need you to take Rebecca in the ambulance," I said, and she raised an eyebrow. "Isn't it easier with my car?" she asked, to which I shook my head. "They're waiting for her outside, and if they see her, they might attack you and her. Pretend it's a medical transfer," she nodded, "You know where the town is, right?" She nodded and yawned. "Alright, I'll go talk to Andrés to arrange a ride," she said, walking away. I entered the room and woke up Rebecca. "Here, put this on," I gave her my clothes. While she changed, I grabbed a face mask and a hair cap and handed them to her. "I'll go get a stretcher. I'll be back," I told her, leaving the room. I took the stretcher that would fit in the ambulance and brought it to the room. She lay down, and I covered her. "You're coming, right?" I asked, and she nodded. "I'll come in a separate car to avoid suspicion. When you get to the town, Rose will be waiting, and I'll join you the next day," she nodded. I walked to the ambulance's exit, where Andrés and Amelia were waiting. Amelia took care of getting in and drove away. I saw the guards looking around, unaware that their target had left in the ambulance. As I walked to sign my exit paperwork, I picked up my bag and headed to my car. Before getting in, I heard footsteps. I turned around and found myself cornered by the same wolves from Alpha Borja. He approached slowly, staring at me intently. I looked at the other wolves who didn't take their eyes off me. "This is the last time I ask you nicely... Where is she?" he said, now standing in front of me. I rolled my eyes. "When are you going to give up? The woman you're looking for in this hospital isn't here," I said, already tired. "Do you want to go in and search room by room? That way, you'll leave me alone once and for all," I suggested. "Let's go," he said, looking at me. I sighed and we walked towards the entrance. I showed him the main rooms and some floors. "I told you she's not here," I said, growing tired. "Hey, I want to go to sleep," I told him, and he just glared at me and left. I, on the other hand, got into my car and drove back to my lovely apartment and my beloved bed. The next day, I called the hospital to request my resignation, which they granted without any issues. I packed all my belongings while cleaning the apartment. The doorbell rang... I looked through the peephole, and it was Amelia. I let her in. "Can you tell me why you're resigning?" she asked, offended. "Are you going to the town? "Yes, I'll stay with Rebecca to help her until she can leave the country," I say as I close a box filled with my books. "And then you'll come back?" she asks. "Most likely," I smile. "It will be for a few months, at most a year." "You're so good that you're dropping everything for a girl," she says sarcastically. "I'm not dropping everything; I'll still be working on what I love, and I'll be able to help her. She needs the help." "I understand. It must be terrible to be forced to stay with someone who mistreats you, but that's not your battle, and you're putting yourself in danger," she says, following me to my room. "Why are you doing this? Why not call the police?" "Because the police can't defend her from a werewolf," I look at her. "And you can?" she looks at me incredulously. "Yes, because I know my kind. I know what they're capable of, and I know what some, like the one who hurt Rebecca, can do. Nobody deserves to go through that. If I can help her, I will because I have the resources," I say, taking out the suitcase and leaving it by the door alongside some boxes. "I'm not asking you to understand why I'm doing this, just support me as you always have." "I do. But I'm afraid they'll hurt you. I recognize that it happened to you in the past. Rose said you're capable of all this." "Rose should talk less," I mutter. "Because you never tell me anything about your past. It's as if you want to forget it," she reproaches me. "Yes, I want to forget it. So don't listen to Rose," I tell her, looking at her. "It's not pretty, and I don't feel like talking about it. I have to go," I say, hugging her. "Alright... Tell me about anything you need. I love you," she says. "I love you too," Amelia helps me carry the boxes to my car, and I head straight to the village...
