James walked towards the front door as the woman with Gemma rushed past her and towards James. She has blond hair pulled up into a high pony tail, and beautiful brown eyes. They stalked towards eachother until they were inches apart.
James raised his hand right hand up as the woman raised her left. They stared into each other's eyes as they slowly touched hands starting at the finger tips until they’re palms were pushed together. Electricity surged through their bodies, as they intertwined their fingers. A tear fell from the woman's eyes as James pulled her into his body, wrapping both arms around her. "Please don’t cry, what’s wrong?"
She shook her head. "I am just happy I thought I’d never find you."
James smiled. "I thought the same. I am James." He pulled her away to look at her face.
"I am Jade."
"Well." Gemma said as she walked up to them. "That was unexpected. Let's sit." They walked over to join the others at the table.
James smiled. "Jade this is Zeke, who I guess you've already met, and Chase."
Jade reached her hand out and shook Zeke's hand, then Chase's. "Nice to see you again Zeke, and nice to meet you Chase."
Zeke nodded. "Nice to see you again as well. Glad out James has found his mate."
Jade blushed as they took their seats.
Samson looked at James. "James I expect you to treat my daughter with the respect she deserves."
"I wouldn’t dream of doing anything else Alpha." He replied as he reached out and grabbed her hand.
Samson nodded. "What I was saying before all the excitement was why don’t we still have the Decade ball?"
Zeke turned and looked at him. "How would we do that?"
"Well, you guys are still going to be traveling looking for your mates. So I figure you can inform Alpha's of the packs that should have been there if you happen to run into them. I can make you a list of info about the Alpha's in the area so you can know who to trust. Maybe I can arrange to make a trip to your pack discuss this idea with Alpha Wright. It was your packs turn to host."
Zeke nodded. "I think that is a good idea. We could all use something to look forward to. I am sure our Luna and the other women would love to plan a ball. If you don’t mind we will stay tonight, get some rest and then head back out."
Gemma smiled. "Of course you can stay tonight."
Samson nodded. "Well it is settled then." He stood up. "As you can see it is pretty much tents around here, but there are three couches that you guys could use here in the cabin."
Zeke smiled and nodded. "Couches will be perfect."
"Come on I will show you guys around." Samson gestured as he walked towards they door.
Samson took them out and introduced them to some of his pack members. They had tents all over the area where families had been staying. They had a tent set up as a make shift hospital just like back at the Packhouse.
"So I am guessing this is not where you guys were before everything got crazy?" Zeke asked.
Samson shook his head. "During an attack our Packhouse and most of the homes on our pack lands got burned. This is still our pack lands though. This is a cabin we would use when we needed a getaway."
Zeke nodded. "What are you guys planning to do for winter?"
Samson sighed. "I don’t know. We have talked about trying to find a neighborhood or something where we could all at least be in doors. It is just hard to think about leaving our pack lands. My family has been on this land for twoo hundred years."
"I can understand that. I wouldn’t want to leave Shadow pack lands either. Looks like you guys are fairing pretty well though."
"We are lucky." Gemma stated. "We were able to stay together as a pack and saw where things were headed pretty quickly. So we gathered as much supplies as we could from the city and then hunkered down here."
"Have you lost many?" James asked.
Sadness spread across Gemma and Jade's faces. "We lost over three quarters of our pack in the first couple of months. Between the attacks and then wounds sustained form them."
James pulled Jade into a hug. "We lost many too. Samson, Gemma. WOUld you mind if I steal Jade for a little bit?"
Gemma looked over and smiled. "Of course."
James grabbed Jade's hand and ran towards the woods with her.
Zeke smiled. He was glad James had found his mate, but he couldn’t help but be a little sad. "Why don’t we go over that Alpha list and maybe you can take a look at our map. Give us some advice on where we should head next?"
"Yes I’d be happy to." Samson replied.
They made their way back to the Cabin and spent the next couple of hours going over the map, where the Pack's used to be and what Alpha was in charge there.
"I think you guys should head to the Dark Moon pack next. If Alpha Miller is still alive his pack was here. You guys could walk their by nightfall if you left in the morning." Samson said pointing on the map.
Zeke nodded. "That sounds like a plan."
"I met Alpha Miller once when Justin had me accompany him as back-up n an Alpha meeting. He is a nice guy, very stern. Probably why Justin and him get along." Chase laughed.
Zeke chuckled. "At least he's better then he used to be."
"Alright you three." Gemma interupted. "That is enough buisness for the day. We've got a fire going and a hog had been cooking on the spit for hours. Let's go enjoy ourselves."
They headed out and sat around the fire. The smell of the hog on the spit made Zeke's stomach flip flop. The soup had helped, but he just now realized how hungry he was after being on the road the last two weeks. You can only pack so much on you and he was happy they crossed paths with this pack.
James and Jade came walking up to the fire holding hands and grinning ear to ear.
"We are going to head out in the morning." Zeke informed James as he and Jade took a seat around the fire.
James looked at Jade with a worried look. Zeke laughed. "I figured you would be staying here?"
James let out a sigh. "Will you guys be ok without me?"
Zeke smiled. "We can manage. Besides, that was the goal right? Find our mates, which you have."
James kissed the side of Jade's head. "The Moon Goddess definitely blessed me. You guys should see here with a sword."
Jade blushed. "it’s not that big of a deal."
"Yes it is." Ryan interjected. "Pretty sure she's like a Viking reincarnated or something."
Jade laughed. "It was just a hobby, but I'll admit, it comes in pretty handy now. Ammo is getting pretty hard to find these days."
"You're right about that. We should all probably get better at sword fighting." Zeke agreed.
They sat around the campfire and joked, got to know one another and made plans for Zeke and Chase to stop back by whenever they made their way back to the Packhouse. The crowd was getting smaller and smaller, so they decided to head to the cabin and get some rest before getting back on their journey.
Zeke shook Samson's hand. "Thank you for everything."
Samson nodded. "Anytime you guys make sure to check in on your way back."
"We will."
Gemma walked up and gave Zeke and Chase both a package wrapped in cloth. "Here's some food for you both. There is some hog for the next couple days, some jerky and dried fruit. Please be careful and be more alert. You guys are lucky it was us you ran into."
Zeke smiled and nodded. "You are right, we will be more careful."
James walked up and the three of them group hugged. Foreheads together. "James over here breaking up the three musketeers." Chase joked.
"You guys be careful." James stated. "I am going to go with Samson and Ryan back home. I will make sure everyone knows you're ok."
"Give my love to the family." Zeke asked. "Jade, jeep this jokester in line will you?"
Jade walked up and hugged Zeke. "I will."
Zeke pulled away and laughed. "Oh you will get along just fine with Sophie and Ellie. They are going to like you."
Jade smirked. "I hope so, James filled me in about them a little. Not going to lie I am feeling a little intimidated meeting a female Alpha."
Zeke laughed. "They will both love you." He put the package Gemma had given him in his pack, then put it on his back. "We will see you guys on the way back."
They waved as Zeke and Chase walked to the tree line and disappeared.

"We should be getting to their pack grounds any minute." Zeke stated as he looked at the map.
"We've got maybe twenty minutes of light left."
Zeke nodded as he looked towards the horizon.
"HALT! HANDS UP!" They heard a man yell.
Zeke sighed and put his hands up, Chase following suit. "Is this going to happen every time?" Chase shook his head.
"I'm going to say yes."
Five men and one woman walked out of the trees. A man walked up and shoved Zeke knocking him to the ground.
"What the hell?" Chase yelled. "We aren't a threat!" He stepped towards the man who had pushed Zeke down. He looked them over. Only one of them had a gun, the man who seemed to be in charge. The other four had a bat, machete, sword, and a tire iron.
The man stepped towards him, pointing his gun at him. "What are you going to do about it?"
Chase gritted his teeth, his hands still in the air.
"I wouldn’t do that if I were you." Zeke said as he stood up pointing his AR at those around him. "You might get one shot off, but I will have all five of you laying in a pool of blood before you get a second shot off."
"That might be." The man replied staring at Chase. "But I will kill him first." He shoved Chase hard in the chest.
Chase stumbled back, his arms falling to his sides as both hands formed into fists. "Or put that gun down and fight me like a man. Or are you useless without that gun?" He sneered.
The man walked up and put the but of the gun to Chase's forehead. "Keep testing me."
