AARON
"What do you want?" I asked approaching Nathan with clenched fists. His presence made me uneasy as it always smelled trouble, one I was no longer willing to get involved in.
"What do you want Nathan?" I repeated, keeping my eyes on him and monitoring his every movement as I inched forward.
He smirked and kept looking at me without saying a word. Of course, he knew the best ways to get on my nerves; he was my twin brother afterall. We had grown up playing around together until the rift between us was created, but even at that: we knew each other like the back of our palms.
I passed him and walked to the office, he followed not surprisingly. There was a reason why he was here and it definitely was not a good one, the look on his face and his composure had given it all away.
It baffled me how I and Nathan looked exactly the same, it would take months spent together to be able to tell the difference yet we were so different when character was involved. I was the good child and he was quite the opposite.
While I did every other thing right, Nathan did it all wrong. I was entrusted with the company's care while Nathan spent his days all around doing close to nothing and refusing to involve himself with company activity, I was glad I didn't have to see his face - my face - everyday though.
Walking in, I took my rightful place behind the desk with crossed hands waiting for Nathan to waltz in as he usually did and sit in front of me looking like he owned the place.
"This place has become even better than the last time I saw it. "
I was right. The second he walked in, he took his seat and undid the button of the coat I was shocked to see him wear. Usually, he would come dressed like the playboy that he was in an attempt to show off luxury and the tattoo on his arm, but today he looked too presentable in the shiny black tuxedo that hugged every inch of the muscles and abs we both possessed; yes,.we were very much alike.
One minute, he was looking around the place. The next, a huge smile graced his face and I knew whatever he needed, he needed it urgently.
"What is it this time Nathan? Cut to the bull s**t," I was growing impatient already. Tension was rising fast within me wondering what he needed and why he thought to come to me.
"Can't I visit my baby brother anymore?" He asked, placing emphasis on 'baby' to which I frowned and raised a brow.
"You know that's nonsense talk Nathan, you would never come here dressed like this just to visit me. Now tell me, what is it you need?"
His face straightened into a serious one, probably the most serious I've seen him in years.
"Well, the thing is I need some money Aaron. It's sort of huge and it's important, you know I can't ask dad for it," he asked in a pleading tone that satisfied me.
"Well, well, well, who do we have here asking me for money? Nathan, what do you need money for and how much do you need?"
A shrill laughter escaped his throat. " If you didn't ask, I'd probably be surprised. Of course you'd question me about my pressing needs like you don't have yours."
He got me there, I had no business asking him what he needed money for. If I was concerned, I did my best to conceal it and asked "How much do you need?"
"Well, twenty thousand dollars for starters. I might need more, who knows?"
Confusion washed through me and I arched a brow in surprise. Nathan asking me for that amount of money was both weird and shocking, it was really shocking that he came to me. I was glad that he did for some reason although I felt the need to press him more on the uses of the money, but more than that I wanted him out of my face as quickly as potential.
Ironic how we looked the same and I could stare into the mirror all day yet all his face ever did was annoy me and make me sick.
"Is that all?" I asked, pulling out my check book from one of the drawers. His eyes followed my hand before darting away to the ceiling and he moved uneasily in his chair.
"That's all brother, nothing more, " he replied and I looked his way again. Something was really off, we barely addressed each other as brothers so why would he say that?
I shrugged it off and put the checkbook back into the drawer. "Nevermind, I'll make a transfer, is that okay?" I asked and he nodded.
"Nice doing business with you brother," he stretched out a hand which I took reluctantly hoping I wouldn't come to regret my decision later.
Speaking of decisions, Violet was in my head again; she never left really. Y head had been full of her since the morning and I really hoped she would show up at the company in the afternoon.
It would hurt to have to be unkind to her if she did show up, but at least I would get to see her pretty face.
I relaxed in my chair with eyes closed and hands folded across my chest thinking about her as much as I tried not to. My wolf was always excited at the thought of her and I wondered how much longer I would be able to keep myself from touching her, marking her and claiming her as mine.
I wondered how long it would be until I couldn't control the growing desire and the flame she ignited within me with her presence. Until then, I decided to observe and watch her quietly as things progressed.
