VIOLET'S POV
"Hey Violet," Anastasia beamed at me as I took my seat near her begrudgingly. I rose my eyebrows in acknowledgement before turning away from her to study the class.
We seemed to be about thirty altogether and I scanned for anyone that could possibly be my person, except Anastasia of course.
Few people in different groups clung together filling the air with the buzz of voices. Occasionally, they would turn to look at me before going on with the obvious gossip and I felt like sinking into my chair. There was no way I would make a genuine friend, at least not yet.
I sighed and turned back to look at Anastasia who smiled again as she caught my eye.
"Ugh, " I groaned.
She was the only one without a friend, I could hear the tapping of her pen on the desk as she slumped into the chair with her hood thrown across her head.
As I studied her intently, her eyes didn't dart in my direction for a second, all she did was fiddle with her pen.
"Maybe I forgive you," I said to her. "But that doesn't mean we're friends, I can tolerate you though."
"Thank you Violet," she smiled again and I noticed her beautiful set of teeth. Not that I hadn't before, I was just too blinded with anger to acknowledge it.
She immediately pulled the hood over her head and sat properly.
"Oh, that was an act?" I stuttered, confused.
Before she had the chance to reply, a clearing of throat drew our attention to the front of the class where a young man in his early thirties stood. His dark hair was like Aaron's own and I shook my head at the thought, I needed Aaron out of my head. At least till I was done with class.
"Yes?" He waved in my direction. "Got something to say?"
"Umm, no sir," I replied sitting upright and adding this to the list of Aaron's offences.
"You're the new student, right?"
I nodded my head trying to stare at him directly and pay no attention to the multitude of eyes that threatened to drown me.
"Might as well introduce yourself."
"Hi, I'm Violet. Done," I glared at him with a deadly look.
He pursed his lips in a not so satisfied manner. "Well that will do for now, I am Mr. Simon," he introduced.
I nodded slightly in response.
"Good, now to the subject of the day Criminology."
I barely heard past this statement before drowning myself in thoughts of Aaron again. It's like he was my shadow, there were traces of him everywhere I went.
He studied Criminology just as I was doing and I wondered if he found it fun or stressful or both, I wished n could ask him but my ego was too high to get myself to talk to him except he apologized.
Would we be friends if he studied the same year as I did? I wondered, thinking about how it would be to see his pretty face everyday.
"I would sit next to him and we would be each other's best friends," I fantasized.
I could literally see his picture in the air, the scenario of our first meet flushing back to my memory only to be intercepted by a picture of his face as he drove out this morning, the one that held pure hate.
I shook my head vigorously in a stupid attempt to get him out of my head.
"Miss Violet , miss Violet," the voice called continuously till I looked up and realised the teacher had been standing right in front of me.
Shit, I had been shaking my head. Could today get any worse?
"Care to share your thoughts?" He asked and I wondered just how long he had been standing there for. Had he seen me almost let our drool at the thought of Aaron's perfect physique and how much I would kill to have him in my arms?
"Umm," I started, well aware of the faces turned in my direction. I sure had attracted a lot of attention for my first day at school. Everyone had an expectant look on their faces, one that threatened to rip me apart if I so much as said a wrong word.
"Go on now, Violet,"
The bell rang just in time, sparing me from full blown embarrassment and I bowed my head on the table waiting for the class to get empty before I made my way to the cafeteria.
"Hi Anastasia, " I heard a voice and lifted my head just enough to see a girl walk out hand in hand with Anastasia. Guess she had a friend after all.
Her friend looked even more shady than she did and I dismissed any thoughts I had about warming up to Anastasia. I had no choice but to navigate through school all alone.
In less than two minutes, the classroom was free and filled with silence, I grabbed my backpack and followed the map to the cafeteria to get lunch.
"Do I get to pick?" I asked the waitress who shot me a nasty glare and dumped pasta into my plate.
"Scoot," the girl behind me almost pushed me over as she set her tray in front of the waitress who now had a huge smile on her face.
Ignoring the obvious bias that just took place, I scanned the hall for an empty spot and took my seat there.
This was a school for ass holes, judging from everyone I had met. I was toying with the pasta when I heard a tiny voice call out to me.
Looking up, there was a girl staring at me with the prettiest smile I had ever seen. She looked my age and looked nothing like a nerd although she had on a pretty pair of glasses that sat pretty on her tiny nose and complemented her freckles.
"Hi..." I trailed off not knowing her name.
