VIOLET
The car wheels rolled into the parking lot of my new school and I took in its beauty. The school was huge compared to my previous one and many cars belonging to students were parked at various spots. I tried counting but stopped when I got to thirty.
Turning the car off, I sighed and tried to get Aaron out of my head. I had been trying to do that the entire ride here but it didn't seem to be working. It was annoying how he managed to act like nothing happened between us and couldn't do as much as give me a ride to school.
I pictured the hate on his face as he rode out to God knows where, probably to meet one of the other women in his bed, and anger clouded my senses immediately.
A nerdy girl with a welcome sign stood in front of the car with a huge smile on her face and I guessed this was my guide for the day.
Straightening the pink top I had hauled over my head hurriedly, I checked myself in the mirror to be sure the scowl on my face had disappeared before getting out of the car. It wasn't nice to make a bad impression on the first day.
"Hi, I'm Anastasia, welcome to Williams high," it sounded more like something she had rehearsed over time.
"Hi, I'm Violet," I replied, gripping her outstretched hand firmly.
"Nice to meet you, shall I take you to the principal's office?"
I hadn't replied when she skipped off happily with her extremely long skirt swaying around.
"Uh ok," I muttered, following in her footsteps.
"You just moved here, yes?" She asked, slowing down a bit to match my pace.
"Yes, might I ask where we're going?"
"To the principal's office."
A confused look creased my brows.
"I figured you might not know your way there so I decided to help, wouldn't be bad to make a new friend," she flashed her set of extremely white teeth at me and I did the same, trying to relax my tense muscles.
Perhaps I made a friend already.
The hallways were almost empty as we walked in all thanks to my early arrival, I wasn't ready for the stares and whispers.
We reached what I presumed to be the principal's office and she hit the door with 3 rapid knocks before opening it.
A man who looked to be in his early fifties sat behind the desk in a well tailored suit scribbling something away onto a notepad when we walked in.
He lifted his eyes slightly from the book and adjusted his glasses to take a look at me before clearing his throat and sitting upright.
"You may take your seats. Miss Violet I suppose?"
"Yes sire," my voice came out barely above a whisper. I wasn't yet accustomed to the formalities and rules the upper class followed.
"Welcome to Williams high," he stood up in his chair and wore a smile that was a stark contrast to the expression he had on his face previously.
I took his hand and returned the smile as well as I could.
"So nice of you to show her around Anastasia, I'll be sure to lift your detention this evening," he remarked.
And then I knew I had been used, of course no one had any interest in showing a new student around.
"Here is your class schedule, I do hope you have a lovely time here," Mr. Smith as his plaque stated said to me.
"Thank you, we'll be on our way now," I replied, taking the guidebook from his hand and heading straight for the door with Anastasia right on my heels.
"I'm sorry," she started as soon as we were out of the principal's hearing.
"For using me on my first day of school?" I asked. There was no hurt in my voice because I wasn't hurt, just a tad bit surprised.
"I really needed to get the detention lifted and this was the only way, please forgive me," there was a look of sadness in her eyes that appealed to a part of me.
"Fine," I rolled my eyes.
"Yay," she giggled. "Friends?"
"No," I couldn't stand having a deceitful person as my first friend in this town. Aaron had done enough damage.
"I'll see you later," I muttered and turned away from her.
"You might need help finding the classrooms," she called out after me, but I just kept on walking.
I crossed making friends off my mental to do list for the day and didn't bother to take note of anyone's face. What was the point afterall?
Five minutes later, I was standing in front of the gym for the second time. It felt like I was in a maze and I regretted declining Anastasia's offer to help.
"Such a way to spend my first day," I threw up my hands in the air after realising I might just miss my first and only class today.
The door to the gym opened and I ducked to the side just in time to avoid the long line of guys that strolled out.
Each of them had a towel draped across the neck, but I could make our their biceps and muscles underneath. I would have been lost in a trance like any normal girl, safe for the picture of Aaron's naked body in bed that I couldn't just get out of my head.
"Ugh," I face palmed, watching the last boy leave before I walked quickly determined to get to class before it was too late.
I walked hurriedly trying to make sense of the mini map I found in the book until I arrived at room 2b, my classroom for the day.
"Here goes nothing," I took in a deep breath and pushed the door open.
The previously loud noise that emitted from the class stopped instantly and all eyes fell on me. It took a lot not to tremble and keep my head down as I scanned through the groups of well dressed overfed students to find an empty seat.
My heart did a flip as I spotted the only seat left with Anastasia on the left waving in my direction.
Could today get any worse?
