Raziel POV
"What the hell are you trying to say?" I asked her because her words didn't seem to align with her true intentions.
"We have to save our son," she repeated, and it seemed like she wasn't joking.
"We have pups!" My Lycan, Ash, laughed heartily at the news. "We finally have heirs and-"
"Stop talking!" I interrupted him, blocking out the rest of his conversation. I wasn't in the mood to discuss it with him. "Alexandria!" I yelled her name and grabbed her hand, pulling her closer until our chests touched. "How could you stand in front of me and tell such lies?"
Alexandria blinked, her heart racing against mine. She lowered her head, unable to meet my gaze, but I gently grabbed her chin and raised her head. "You will look at me when you speak, Alexa!" I shouted at her. "Now tell me that what you just said is a lie," I said, impatiently waiting for her answer.
"It is the truth, your highness," she replied. "Those children you saw at the..." I didn't let her finish as I pinned her to the wall.
"How dare you stand there and say such lies!" I shouted at her.
"I am stating the truth. They are your children, and one of them needs your help, which is why I am here," she explained, but I still couldn't believe it. I had met those children in the restaurant, thinking they belonged to the man who was always with her, but they were mine.
It was hard to believe it.
I let go of her hand and heaved a deep sigh. I wanted to believe her, but I couldn't forget what happened five years ago.
"I know you won't believe me, your highness, but it is the truth. If you want a DNA test, I'm ready to take it so you'll believe that those children are yours."
I let out another sigh and walked towards my closet. I put on a brown shirt and black pants, then walked back to her, watching as she paced around my room. "How could you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"I don't know what you mean by that, but I..." she started to say.
"Alexa!" I growled at her, taking a step towards her. She backed away, and I followed. "I don't know where you think you're going or if you're even considering leaving, but you need to understand that you have committed a grave offense by keeping the heirs of Salvador in a foreign land. You made them stay in the human world instead of the Lycans' realm, where they belong!"
Alexandria remained silent, lowering her head. When she finally looked up at me, tears streamed down her face. "I tried to tell you about it five years ago, but you believed that I cheated on you, and I..." she began to say.
"Are you saying that you didn't?" I interrupted.
"Your Highness, I..." she started.
"Stop calling me that, Alexa. You used to call me Raizel when we were together, and even though we've spent five years apart, that doesn't mean you should address me with 'your highness.' Address me by the name you call me when I f**k you every night," I shouted, my breath heavy. I didn't know why I added that last part, but I wanted her to know that I hated the idea of using honorifics for me.
"Please," she begged. "Don't make this harder for me. I just need you to help son and..."
"He is our son," I corrected her, asserting my claim as the father of the child, even though the DNA test hadn't been conducted. I believed she was telling the truth, and since I had met the children, I felt a bond that made me believe they were mine. "What is my son's name?"
"Cody," she replied. "He is..." She paused for a moment, lowering her head. "He has the same heart disease that you had when you were a child"
" heart disease?"
She nodded. "He has had it since he was a child, and now he needs surgery," she explained, and I bit my lower lip, fighting back tears. "I just want to save my... our son," she said, her voice filled with anguish.
I heaved a sigh and let go of her hand, then headed towards the door. "I want to see him," I told her.
"Really?" she sounded hopeful, a glimmer of lost hope returning to her eyes. "Thank you so much, your highness," she said, but as she saw me glaring at her, she corrected herself. "I mean, Raizel. I apologize for addressing you that way," she lowered her head in apology.
I ignored her and walked out of the room. As soon as we left the room, I mind-linked Kylan to prepare the car.
When we entered the elevator, she tried to keep her distance, standing on one side while I stared at her. Each time our eyes met, she quickly looked away, pretending to be interested in her surroundings. It amused me, but at the same time, I couldn't shake the jealousy I felt when I initially referred to the children as someone else's.
"Most times, you tend to act dumb," Ash, my Lycan, teased me once again. "What kind of Lycan king can't even recognize his pups?"
"Shut up!" I yelled at him, not realizing I had spoken aloud, and caught Alexa's attention. I rubbed my forehead, and as the elevator doors opened, I hurriedly stepped out. "Stay hidden like you always do and stop bothering me, Ash," I warned him.
"Alright, Lycan king," he replied, bursting into laughter. I ignored him and blocked him out of my mind instead of replying. When Alexandria and I reached the car, Kylan was already waiting. He opened the door and bowed his head in respect. I got into the car and rested my head on the seat, hoping to clear my mind. But as she sat beside me, her rosemary scent filling my nostrils, I knew I couldn't get her out of my thoughts without physically pushing her away.
As the car started moving, I opened my eyes and faced her. "Tell me, Alexa. How is Cody? Is he different?" I paused, looking away. I didn't know why I was asking these questions, but I was curious. Although I had already met the first two children and knew what they looked like, I wanted to know Cody better since I hadn't met him.
"He is a gentle child, just like you," she said, smiling. "When I first had him, he was so tiny. Then I received the devastating news that he had heart disease. At first, I couldn't believe a Lycan could have such an illness, but then I remembered what you told me years ago about your illness. So, I didn't lose hope and stayed by his side," she said, her gaze drifting out the window.
"He is the only one of your children who never stopped asking about you," she added, her voice trembling as she wiped a tear from her face. I reached out my hand to comfort her on the shoulder, but quickly withdrew it and rubbed my hands together instead.
"If you had told me five years ago that you were pregnant, none of this would have happened."
Alexa chuckled, "Why are you blaming me when you exiled me from the werewolf realm five years ago?"
"Exiled you?" I chuckled back, shifting in my seat. "I believe you should be smart enough to know that I saved your life!" I yelled at her. "If it weren't for me, you would have been killed and long forgotten. But I saved your life and freed you from everything that happened to you."
Alexa didn't back down; she shifted in her seat. "I didn't cheat on you. Can't you, for once, believe that I didn't?"
I was left speechless, unable to say anything because she could be right. If I had trusted her, none of this would have happened. It was all because I chose to believe what I had heard, and those things could also be the truth, considering the clear evidence.
"I don't care if you cheated on me or not, Alexa," I replied, my voice filled with frustration. "The thing now is that you hid the fact that you were pregnant with my children for five years. And if Cody," I paused, mentioning my son's name, "if you hadn't needed me, you wouldn't have told me about them. You would have let that stupid human male who is always around you become their father. You would have allowed that man to take my place! How could you do that, Alexa?" I hit the seat angrily. "You should have at least told me about my children, but instead, you hid it from me!"
Alexa burst into tears, placing her hand on her mouth and sniffling. "It's not my fault that you chose not to believe me. Mark is a great person. He was the one who stood by me when you abandoned me and the only one who took me in when the world turned against me, so..."
"Enough!" I growled at her. Just hearing the name of the human was enough to make my Lycan go crazy. I was jealous at the thought of her being with another man, and it saddened me deeply to know that I had missed witnessing my children's birth. "It's all your fault," I accused her, but before she could reply, Kylan interrupted and announced that we had arrived.
"We are here, Your Highness," he announced.
Alexa hurriedly left the car and walked towards the entrance of the hospital, waiting for me. As I joined her, she rushed again, leaving me behind. I shook my head in disbelief at her attitude and walked behind her, watching her lips sway from left to right. Ever since we met again at the party that night, it was the first time I had the chance to stare at her perfect figure. She looked different than she did five years ago, and even more beautiful.
The question that lingered in my mind was why I had let her go five years ago instead of listening to her side of the story.
"She cheated on you, Raizel!" a voice said in my head, and I reluctantly agreed.
"There he is," Alexa announced after walking down a hallway and stopping in front of a door.
I could feel my heart beating so fast that it felt like it would burst as I stared at the boy. Just like Alexa had said, he was my replica, and just staring at him through the door reminded me of when I was around his age. The pain every night, knowing that you are attached to wires and machines, was unbearable, and I was lucky to be treated early. But the little boy who was my son was still suffering from a disease he inherited from me.
"Would you like to see him?" Alexa asked as she walked into the room.
I remained at the entrance of the door, unable to enter. As if the boy felt our presence, he opened his eyes and called out Alexa's name.
"Mum," he slowly said.
"Cody," Alexa replied, and my heart reacted by racing even faster. I couldn't enter the room, feeling guilty knowing that my son was suffering because of me.
Feeling nervous for the first time in a long while, I turned to walk away. When I got outside, I heaved a deep sigh and placed my hand on my heart.
"Your Highness, are you alright?" Kylan asked.
I shook my head in response. "I saw him, Kylan," my voice broke, and I couldn't even express how I truly felt. I never expected to have a child who would be just like me. Scratch that, I never believed I would have children at all. "He is just like me," I finally managed to say, finding my voice.
"Your Highness, you..."
"Raizel!" Alexa shouted my name as she came out of the hospital. "Why didn't you say hello to Cody?" she asked.
I had no idea what to say to her, so I headed toward my car. "You and the children are coming back to the werewolf realm," That's all I could say, lost for words and still surprised that I was a father to three amazing children.
"What did you say?"She Questioned.
"We are all going back to the werewolf realm," I replied, entering the car. "We are going back," I repeated, rubbing my face in Excitement. "Cody," I whispered my son's name and smiled as if I had won the lottery.
