Acting as a father to my triplets 1

Raziel POV Alexandria and I turned to face the door as our son walked into the room. He hadn't seen us yet, and taking this opportunity, Alexandria attempted to stand up and hit my groin again. "Alexa," I stifled the groan that was about to escape my lips and remained on the ground. "Man up and stop acting like it's painful," Ash, my Lycan, mocked me and laughed. "You wouldn't know how painful it is until you shift," I replied to him and glanced at the entrance, noticing that Cara, the only girl among the triplets, had also walked to the doorway. I watched as Alexandria knelt in front of them, listening to their complaints, and it made me smile. It amazed me that she had been doing it for four years. "What do you say, Raziel? Will you allow our mate to go to that ugly human?" Ash asked, and when I didn't answer him, he growled at me. "You were the one who rejected her years ago, and now you wouldn't even answer me, and yet you are..." "Shut up," I cut him off before he could finish. "Don't tell me what to do," I told him and stood up from the ground. "I am not going to let that stupid human have my mate." Ash laughed. "You are truly foolish, Raziel. Now you admit that she is your mate," he tutted. "I don't care about what you thought of her in the past, but I am not going to let my mate disappear from my sight just like five years ago." "I don't plan on doing that either," I replied to him and looked towards the door, noticing that Alexa was staring at me. She waved her hands and pointed to the children. I blinked, realizing that the children were saying something. I had been so caught up in my conversation with Ash that I hadn't realized they were talking to me. "Hey!" Caden shouted excitedly and rushed towards me. "You're the man from the restaurant," he hugged my leg. "Are you Raziel?" he asked, and I nodded in response. "Oh, okay," he sighed and then looked up at me. "My mom always calls your name all the time." I looked at Alexa and chuckled. She palmed her forehead and shook her head at me in denial. "He's right," Cara agreed and walked towards us. I crouched to their level and placed my hands on both of their shoulders. "And what does Mommy always say?" I asked. Alexa laughed and also walked towards us. "There's no need for that. The children need to get ready because we're all going to visit Cody soon." "Raziel, you abandoned me!" Cara shouted, raising her head to the ceiling. "I hate you so much," she stomped her legs on the ground. "I love you so much, but you left me, and now I'm alone." "Oh goodness, Alexa is such a character, and her daughter is just like her," Ash commented. I ignored him and instead exchanged looks with Alexa, who was looking elsewhere. "Mummy must hate me," I said and pinched Cara's cheek. "Are you here to marry my mommy?" Caden asked, yawning and showing signs of sleepiness. "Daddy Mark might marry my mom soon," he said and then walked out of the room as if he hadn't said something significant. I looked at Alexa again and frowned at her when our eyes met. Before I could say anything, Cara pulled my hand, and we both walked out of the room to the living room where Caden was already in Mark's arms. Seeing them together made me stare at them as Mark threw him up, and the little boy laughed. I should be the one holding him, I thought as I continued watching them. "This human is going to marry Alexa before you know it, and you'll lose her to him, and..." I blocked him out of my head before he could finish and instead focused on Cara, who was speaking to me. "Here," she sat on the couch with a photo album in her hand and started pointing to their pictures. The first pictures were when they were babies. "Have you met Cody?" she asked, and I nodded in response. "Mommy said that he is sick but he'll be coming home soon," she said and pointed to another picture. In the picture, Mark was also there, placing his hand on Alexa's shoulder. Seeing them so close together made my blood boil, and I could feel the heat radiating through my body. To control myself in front of my daughter, I clenched my fist and then I noticed that Alexa was standing behind me. "Cara!" she called and walked over to our daughter. She closed the photo album and carried her in her arms. "Time to take your bath because we're going to visit Cody," she announced. "Your Highness," she cleared her throat and looked up at the ceiling. Watching her do that reminded me of what Cara had told me. "Are you going to say that you hate me again?" I jokingly asked. Alexa lowered her head and shook her head in response. "Whatever the kids say to you is not the truth because..." she stuttered. "Are you saying that the kids are lying?" I asked her, but she shook her head in response. "I..." she cleared her throat. "I have to get ready because we're going to meet Cody and..." I stood up from the couch and straightened my shirt. "I am going with you," I told her. "I'll move the departure to tomorrow because I want you to tell the kids about me and..." Alexa sighed and nodded in response. "Then I shall go get the kids ready," she said and turned to leave, but I grabbed her hand, and we both stared at each other for a moment, forgetting that we had something to do. Then she removed her hand from my grip and walked away. I heaved a deep sigh and rubbed my forehead. Even after all these years, I still couldn't stop thinking about her and the place she holds in my heart. Maybe Ash was right about not letting her go again because even though I had rejected her five years ago, the bond was still there. My phone suddenly rang in my pocket, and I walked out of the house to answer the call. It was my mother, and as I picked it up, she greeted me excitedly. "Son," she said, "when are you coming? It's time for the annual ball," she reminded me. "Tomorrow, Mother," I replied. "I'll be done with the business I came here for," I told her and paused for a moment before deciding to break the news to her. "Mother, I have a surprise for you tomorrow, and I'm sure you'll like it. Please inform Father too." "You've agreed to marry Rania?" she asked. "No," I answered sharply because Rania was the girl my parents had forced me to marry after ending the mating bond with Alexa. "The news is greater than that." "Of course," my mother laughed. "I'll be waiting for the great news then. See you tomorrow." We ended the call, and I walked back into the house. When I reached there, I found Cara pacing around the living room, and when she saw me, she rushed towards me. "I thought you left!" she said in her high-pitched voice. "I didn't," I told her, liking that she was already bonding with me. It must be the father-daughter connection, I thought, and just thinking about it made me smile. "I want you to braid my hair just like Daddy Mark always does." "Daddy Mark?" Just hearing that gave me a migraine. I hated that my children were addressing him like that, but there was nothing I could do. Even though Mark was annoying, he was there for them when I couldn't be. "Okay," I said, carrying her and placing her on the couch. I had no idea what to do, but because I wanted to appear cooler than Mark, I agreed. So when she handed me the comb, I gently brushed her hair the best way I could. "So, are you going to live with us just like Daddy Mark?" "No," I replied. "I..." I didn't know what to say because I wanted Alexa to be the one to break the news, not me. "Okay," was her response, and after that, she didn't say anything else. The braiding was harder than I thought. I couldn't do it, and each time I tried, the braid would always come loose on its own. I wondered how Mark did it, and the fact that I didn't know was frustrating. There was nothing that I seemed to be good at when it came to my children. I was a bad father who didn't even know he had children and couldn't even do his daughter's braid. "Cara," Alexa shouted as she walked into the living room. When she saw us, she stared at us, and I looked at her. "What are you doing?" "Raziel is helping me braid my hair just like Daddy Mark always does," she replied and laughed excitedly. "Oh," Alexa said and chuckled as she watched me fail miserably at braiding. "Let me help you," she said, placing her hand on mine and guiding me to braid our daughter's hair. Throughout the braiding process, I couldn't stop staring at her. Her rosemary smell was overwhelming, and it made my Lycan growl in my head. I felt a surge of electricity through my body, and it reacted with my heart, which started beating so fast. Having her close to me made me want to kiss her over and over again until we were both out of breath. Thoughts of what I wanted to do to her at that moment played in my head. I wanted to pin her to the couch and continue kissing her to make up for the years we spent apart. I was going crazy, forgetting that she was the woman who had cheated on me five years ago, but then again, she was also the woman who had given birth to my children. "All done!" Alexa announced as she let go of me. "Your Highness," she snapped her fingers in front of my face, bringing me back from my thoughts. I blinked, and our eyes met. "I..." she tried to move away from me, but I grabbed her hand and smiled at her. "Thank you for your help," I told her, and she smiled back at me. This time, my smile was genuine, not the usual forced smile I always had around her.
